Young Trolley
My youngest son plays toddler football run by the "charlton challenge" Today by the coaches we were handed, as were all the parents, 6 free tickets for the clowns home against stoke on Jan 29th. There were plenty more on offer if you wanted.

I was quite surprised seeing as our resident clown's on here have had me believe they sell out every home game and the ground was due for expansion to cover demand! Or has that little plan now been shelved since relegation ;)

Anyway I won't be wanting them so if any of you bobbin robins fancy them feel free to PM me and I'll happily send them to you :D

rbarmy
amazing really - i know there are some giveaways but you can't really imagine them giving away six tickets per person to a Palace league match
OldPeanutSeller

Young Trolley
For the record they are East Stand, Block B, Row A seats 201-202 & Row B seats 187-190. Face Value £0

What I want to know is why did you pay for your lad to go on 'the Charlton Challenge' YT :p

What did you expect them to give?

I was offered two tckets for your game aginst Bristol City by the way - the qualification was that my mate's son went to school in Croydon :hi: :hi:

You have an ideal discliplinary tool.

Keep them until Friday week and tell him if he doesn't behave you will take him:lux: :lux:
laggin
is free transport also provided?
Oisin
Good idea. We should do it more. I'm a fan because I got a free ticket to Palace in 81.
Addick1
An initiative that doesn't rip off kids and families. How disgusting.

The only sad thing about this is you willingly took the tickets with no intentions of going.
bald-eagle
why is that sad? you don't fill the ground anyway. He took them knowing there'd be people who could use them.

So eaily riled :D It's something most Palace fans would like us to do more of ourselves to really pack the place out and create new fans - yet your small club syndrome insecurities shine through!

I know schools that get tickets from palace and distribute them as they like usually without restriction on the amount you can request.

Edited for accuracy :p
Still I'm sure they threw in a nice bus ride with the tickets so that's something exciting to look forward to.

It was family day, so local schools would of been given tickets.

Anything else probably.

The BT leisure club always have free tickets for Charlton matches

I don't think you can blame Charlton for this at all. They have don't really have that secure a fan base, which is understandable after the years in exile. While they hate to admit it, a lot of season ticket holders at the Valley weren't really fans, but were attracted by the lure of cheap football, free travel, etc. However, these Tottenham and Chelsea fans will bring their kids, who may in time become Charlton fans, so it's a good idea. Yes, it means the atmosphere at the Valley is shocking, and of course it doesn't translate into away support, but it's better to have people in the ground than empty seats.

I did a bit of work on the Kingswood Estate which is near the Palace tower (at the bottom of the hill). The lack of Palace shirts there was shocking. We should be dishing out tickets to the local schools, football clubs, etc, even to my mind if it mean some paying fans were kept away.

100% correct Heb. I have been suggesting for years Palace should follow in this vein. Anything to stop the invasion of Chelsea/Arsenal/Utd shirts in our neck of the woods. There should only be three football shirts you see regularly in South London, (in no particular order) one is Red, one is Blue and the third is Red & Blue.

On our return in 1992, the fans' committees worked hard on getting people to come to The Valley in our 'Target 10,000' campaign - to fill the seats we were creating as the redevelopment of the ground progressed. It was a roaring success which have seen our crowds grow and grow (to a level I never thought I'd see again).

However you can't stand still and any incentive to fill the seats up should be encouraged. Most ST holders would not mind providing subsidised (or even free) seats being made available as long as it is of long term benefit for the Club.

We may not agree on everything but I really do wholly support that statement.
LeeH
Sounds like a day out in Croydon - Man U, Chelsea and Palace tops (or is that a Man U supporter stood next to his Chelsea supporting brother? :D).

but I do get what you're saying Addickted and do agree, even if it'll never happen.
Young Trolley
I'm not having a pop at the initiative as your right in our current plight I'd rather see the empty seats at Selhurst given away to clubs and schools and fill the ground with potential future supporters. What I was surprised about was the number on offer (I did not request 6, that's just what was handed to me). The reason for my surprise is that the charlton fans who visit these boards have constantly banged on about how great their support was, how they fill the ground, nearly all season ticket holders renewed, a year or so ago the ground was going to have an extra tier added to one of the stands to keep up with demand. I was always sceptical that they got the gates they claimed, especially as I had visited the valley through work during the prem years and had regualrly seen empty seats even then. It would appear I was correct and all that bravado was simply yet more bullsh*t from SE7.

Anyway don't be shy, even our clown guests, if you are interested in the tickets by all means let me know!
Maximus Dowieus
Yes don't be fooled into thinking that all their season ticket holders are actually Charlton fans. I know one bloke who has season ticket but supports Chelsea and another one Man U. Don't think either will be renewing again at the end of this season if they dont get promoted.;)

Oi where does that place fans who have stayed loyal to lower league clubs?

Palace, Charlton and Millwall are generally 'lower league clubs' even if the first 2 do get above their station every now and then.
