Basically on Monday my Korfball club have a cup match and sods law had its way and drew our 1st and 2nd team against each other.
I play for the 1st's and I am the 2nd team manager, now I have already been declared part of the starting line up for the match for our 1st team so in effect I won't be able to manage during the game anyway and will have to nominate one of the players to be in charge.
My dilemma is thus, I have to select the side and what players should play together in which section. This is the team I will be playing against myself, so do I behave myself and pick what I consider to be the sections that work best together giving myself and my team mates a tougher test or do I consider what might be easier for the 1st team to play against to ensure the right result?!
Unfortunately the decision is mine alone as our 1st team manager decided to resign almost immediately after naming the side.
What would you do? It's very tempting to field a team I am more confident we can beat but at the same time my professionalism is telling me to put out the best team I can. |

Fair enough, just need to make sure they don't beat us or my name will be mud :D
Worst case scenario I guess if they get through to the final I can always drop myself into the seconds ;) |

Pick the side you would pick against any other oppo and tell both teams thats what you have done. Then tell the 1st's it's a big test as the seconds want their places . And the 2nds they have an opportunity to prove they are better than the firsts.
Looks like you could be managing both for a while so play with a straight bat and win the respect of all concerned. |
