After what has seemed a huuuuuuuuuuuuge build up we have finally reached Wrestlemania. And even with long road to Mania I still havent managed to watch more than a couple of RAW's and catching bits of Mayweather :hmph: on SSN. But, even with my heavy work load at the mo, as promised over on the Wrestling thread, this round of predictions is up with ample time for people to get their picks in. Frankly im pretty impressed with myself :D

For the most part, I am looking forward to Mania, and there are a few matches that I seriously cant say I'm too certain about...unless I've missed something recently; On paper Orton vs. Cena vs. Trips obviously has the ability to be a top top match. Normally not a fan of triple threat or Fatal four-ways for the big titles, as they normally are a given to retain, but this one should be good. MITB, now lacking the likely winner in Jeff Hardy, has been left wide open. We've got 24 guys to choose from in a battle royal - though realistically its more like 5 or 6, and the subsecuent ECW title match.....we've got a Belfast Brawl, BunnyMania, an Interbrand match, Title vs. Streak, a Career Threatening match, and finally the $20million Floyd 'Money' Mayweather to look forward to  (Here's hoping he gets squashed....unlikely as it is!!!)

Most of you know the ropes, but for those who don't....this is only Round 2 of 15 in our year comp. The way it goes is simple - predict correctly the matches at each WWE PPV, and then see the tiebreaker questions that follow and answer them accordingly. I will post a table at the after each event, and keep a running total going too. We seemed to be lacking numbers towards the end of the year, so anyone interested get involved!!! As for the event itself, starts at midnight Sunday Night/Monday morning on Sky Box Office, but due to the Battle Royal being shown prior to the main card on WWE.com, you've got til 11pm Sunday night to get your picks in!

The 24 man battle royale is now no longer on the main Wrestlemania card and will be shown before on WWE.com so I suggest that it not be included as an answer for the first match on. Got to say that it is very interesting that Big Daddy V wasn't in the 12 on 12 match on ECW on Tuesday even though he was listed for the match, possibly a run in?

Anyway for the rest of it

1.) Triple H
2.) Undertaker
3.) Battle Royale Winner (Kane)
4.) MVP
5.) Shawn Michaels
6.) Batista by DQ or some other such non-finish
7.) Against my better judgement, I'm going with Ashley and Maria even though it will kill two of the much better female wrestlers
8.) Finlay
9.) Kane
10.) Tough one to call this but I can't see Mayweather being paid to lose so I'm going with him reluctantly

Tiebreakers

1.) Belfast Brawl
2.) Jamie Noble
3.) Mark Henry
4.) Finlay
5.) 25.35
6.) No

I'm going to ponder these for a bit, especially for the first match on. But these will stay for now.
Joeymaz
The main event is a weird one as the WWE will obv want to send fans home happy but they want Cena to win it where as the fans will want Triple H....

1.) John Cena
2.) Undertaker
3.) Battle Royale Winner (Tommy Dreamer)
4.) Jericho
5.) Shawn Michaels
6.) Umaga
7.) Ashley and Maria
8.) Finlay
9.) Tommy Dreamer
10.) Mayweather although its very very wrong

Tiebreakers

1.) Money In the Bank
2.) Shannon Moore
3.) Kane
4.) Finlay
5.) 22.10
6.) Yes
pauldrulez
HHH
Undertaker
Battle Royal Winner (Hopefully someone young like Kingston/Burke)
Personally think Matt Hardy will cost MVP, so Jericho.
Flair. Gotta be different.
Batista
Ashley/Maria
Finlay
Kofi Kingston
Mayweather via DQ or something.

Tiebreakers
1) Money in the Bank
2) Noble (edited from Matt Striker)
3) Burke
4) Kennedy
5) 22.36
6) No.

Would love Orton to win as it would be a huge surprise even though I like HHH. You should have put last match on as a tiebreaker because that would give some different answers.
pete eagle
A word on anyone including Matt Striker, I think he may have been filling in for Big Daddy V on Tuesday as WWE.com still have the big man as down for the event.

Got a bit of catching up to do after missing the last one, so I'm going to go with a couple of unlikely ones.

The Matches - Pick Your Winners!!
1) Randy Orton
2) Undertaker
3) Battle Royal Winner
4) Chris Jericho
5) Ric Flair - it just feels a bit off that they haven't given him a big World title match before he goes if this was it.
6) Umaga - he needs another main event run.
7) Ashley & Maria - they're the babyfaces, right?
8) Finlay

Super-Ste-Cious
Right, what is the consensus on the Battle Royal. Im happy to just not count it, everyone can vote for it but not score points. But then that invalidates two of the tiebreakers too! OR I could pull forward the deadline til 11pm for example so we can score that match too.....im happy to do either.

BTW.....now people know why I dont always get this up too early - case in point!
Sussex Eagle
I'd move the deadline back. What's going on with the first tiebreaker then?
pauldrulez
IMO, First tiebreaker should be for the official show not the pre-show. Also the Battle Royal should only count if entered in time.
Super-Ste-Cious
Yeah, for tiebreaker one, the Battle Royal will not be counted as a valid answer. And i'll move the deadline to 11pm Sunday night, so we can include all questions and tiebreakers.

I will amend this on the original post .

Whatever happens I can see Triple H winning the match and then asking Flair to come out and join him with the whole of the locker room coming out from the back to applaud Flair. It will probably cross the line into cheese but hey, its the WWE yeah?

Really hope Dreamer wins the ECW Title tonight. I don't care if its the world's shortest run but as one of the only originals left him winning the title would be good.

Oh and if Mayweather gets decapitated then that will be the only redeeming feature of the match.

Well, Kane's won the battle royal. Should make a good monster heel champ. Just hope for those who watch ECW's sake they don't go the other way and have him against Khali, Snitsky & Henry for months.

1st match is the Belfast Brawl.

He won't be a heel, ECW is already overloaded with heels, they needed a fresh face champion what with Punk probably moving onto better things after Wrestlemania in the draft. A brothers of destruction Wrestlemania with the new ECW champion keeping the Edgeheads at bay for his brother? Let's find out......

And score one for me, Finlay vs JBL is up first :)

Well I didn't do very well at all :-s
pete eagle
Well well well, Mania certainly was full of surprises.

First up, the Belfast Brawl, I had this down as a certain Finlay victory to cement his face turn but I suppose JBL really needed the PPV victory as he hasn't many at all since returning after Armageddon.
As for the Money in the Bank match, well, CM Punk winning it was a huge shock, John Morrison or Jericho looked the surefire bets throughout the match and just as Jericho looked on for it, Punk got the briefcase. I thought they missed a trick though, more on that in a bit.
Batista beating Umaga wasn't much of a surprise, although I didn't think it would be a clean finish, these two will get better if they are given time.
Kane is the new ECW champion and they made him look like a badass in the process, let's hope he can lead the brand now.
HBK and Ric Flair almost stole the show, it was a very good match but oh my days if Shawn Michaels has no internal injuries then he is the luckiest man alive.
Diva's match was rubbish but at least they put the wrestlers over, I suppose with the inclusion of Ashley who seems to have 2 moves, they really couldn't sell the win for the playmates.
Now for the biggest shock of the night, Randy Orton retaining, I think everyone had this down for Triple H for certs or even John Cena above Orton but this was a smart move by the WWE as it now gives Orton's title reign real credit and makes it almost legendary as one of the few heels to walk in and out of Mania with the strap. I do think that they missed a trick to really send Punk up by not having him cash in straight away and taking out Orton but I suppose that would have not made Orton's case as strong but it really would have propelled Punk up which they want to do.
Mayweather vs Big Show was rubbish, not much more to say about it.
Undertaker vs Edge was a classic, it started slow but then you really started to think Edge could win, when he went for the tombstone, I was like holy shit, he could actually take this but eventually Undertaker won, just. It put Edge over a lot though and made him look really strong.
kolinkins
The matches themselves were good on the whole, but there was no Mania nostalgia, no past stars making an appearance and little by way of real surprises (other than Hardy returning).

Really? Hardly anyone had Orton down for retaining his title and that was a major curveball from WWE and a good one at that.
Also Punk winning the Money in the Bank, can you honestly say that he would have been your first pick? I'd have had MVP, Kennedy, Jericho and Morrison down before him to win it. RVD is the only other face to have won it and in a match loaded with heels, it was certainly a surprise to see Punk emerge with the briefcase. I thought Hardy returning wasn't actually a surprise at all, as soon as he didn't appear on TV a few weeks before mania, it had run-in written all over it seeing as it's an open secret that they want him to have a run with the US title at some point.

Nice to see some great forward planning. I knew as soon as MVP climbed the ladder that Hardy was going to cost him.

And also... Shelton Benjamin. Legend for taking that bump. Could have broke his back and killed a few fans. For that fall alone he should have won it.

Not really IMHO. Hindsight is a great thing, and although I didnt go for him, it was a tight tight call to go for Jericho over him - and thats only cause I bottled it, and went with what most others chose. For me, Punk and Jericho were the ONLY logical choices.

Mr. Kennedy - claimed he was gonna cash it in that night, that was never gonna happen.
MVP - well Matt Hardy returning was not a suprise at all (I nearly put it as a tiebreaker cause I had heard he was returning), and MVP will have his hands busy with him for a while.
Shelton Benjamin - love having him in these matches, as they say, he is the best athlete in the company - but not gonna win it.
Carlito - er.......did anyone think he had a chance.
John Morrison - For me was 3rd choice. Only due to Kennedy's proclaimation.
pauldrulez
Hope Shelton gets in a feud with Punk which could boost Shelton to the next level. He needs to get into and Edge-like group with maybe Teddy Long as a spokesperson. He cannot give promos to save his life. Elijah Burke and maybe Kofi Kingston could be in there as well. Jazz would have made a good ally had she been there.
GJN
I liked this WM, apart from the womens match what I saw was good. Not the best, but not the worst. The ladder matches really ought to be more mid card though - however some good bumbs and nice sequences. Batista/Umaga would have kept the momentum going after the opener if they pushed the ladder match up the card, but thats just a minor logistical complaint.

I loved the way the booked Kane - as someone before said, just made him look monster like.

As usual, the Diva match was trash. At least Beth got a pin.

HHH will get the belt at the next PPV for putting Orton over last night.

I really thought Taker was going to lose the streak - mainly because Edge has been the first credible person to do that for years.. Wouldn't have been bad if that were the case though. Taker is beginning to lose some Edge :P So this should be his last title reign (coming from a big fan of his).
ChiswickEagle
I am taking CE Junior and friends to WWE Raw tonight - can anyone tell me the difference between Raw and Smackdown (which is on tomorrow night). Thanks in advance.
GJN
In my mind Raw is the inferior show at the moment. They have the bigger stars, but Smackdown hes better matches and builds for PPV better. You should still have a good time though. HHH, JBL, Orton, Cena, Marella, Beth Phoenix will be there.
