Not a flounce alert, unlike others.
You can edit my posts by all means, but why close the thread.
Also, it seems okay for someone to stalk me through the threads insulting my intellect in an Alf style witch-hunt. Yet, when I retort in a direct, and lets face it not untruthful manner, it is my post that gets edited and my thread that gets closed.
I΄m asking for some balance in future, please.
And an explanation in this case. Do you think a comment like this:
¨warning .. any more like this and you may be facing a ban.¨
Is really appropriate for someone who has been on these boards for 8 years? |

And though the title may have been a bit insensitive, Peterh's comment was valid. This was a female artist who thought hitchhiking across Turkey to the Middle East, in a wedding dress, was a great way to protest for World Peace FFS!.
Look at that wally who thought he could hitchhike across Europe using only the "barter system", he got no further than France and was lucky to not get in any other sort of trouble. They need to understand that the world does not conform to their Utopic ideal.
Some of these people need a great big wake up call, unfortunately she got one, in the worse way imaginable.

Peter is also being a little naughty here, it was nothing to do with the his initial posts or questionable titling.
He's not mentioned that he went totally OTT in his abuse of another member, which was why the post was edited. It was then felt it was also right to close the thread as it seemed to be deteriorating into a nasty & personal spat.
However, it appears the mod has reconsidered that position in the light of this thread and reopened it now anyway.
Shall we move on? |

I closed it. Perhaps it was an over reaction (late at night). I closed it because the thread seemed to me to be deteriorating into a nasty (and personal) exchange.
Peter knows why his particular post was deleted. No matter what the provocation you can't call someone a 'See U next Tuesday' on the BBS. Of course I don't expect Peter to be banned - it was just a reminder to observe the rules. |

However, in this case, PeterH already knew the likely cause but failing to mention it in his cry of outrage was, at best, somewhat 'mischievous'. |

I think you are being a bit sensitive Neil (although I do understand why) - lots of people being called Nazi's here - and none of them mods - I only searched GPD as it seemed unlikely there would be a legit use of the word in that section

Looking at the first page of your search, I can see some non-posters being called nazi's, but the only BBS person which there are some inferences about is Dave.
Never heard of Godwin's Law and I suspect neither had the majority of the board.

See Freddy Kutz and others - I'm not going to spend ages trawling but really you are being incredibibly sensitive if you genuinely think only the mods are called nazi's.
Godwin's law is well worth remembering and invoking if you have not come across it before - it is very true. |

Not me though, oh no, no, no...
Of course you get accused more than others no one could deny that - you are the moderators - it goes with the job - I've done moderating on a football board and would never want to do it again - I was regularly called that word which is never allowed to be used - but then I suppose that is only to be expect when I moderated a board that was used equally by MK Dons fans and AFC Wimbledon fans. It was however more fun doing it than not doing it. If it gets to be the other way round then that is when you stop doing it - which is why I stopped at the end of the day. |

Should we just ignore it as a result? - Not in my book. I don't see the problem of the occasional 'word' and, generally, most reasonable people, like wcb here, are quick to offer an apology and move on without bellyaching.
Am I going to get so upset by it that I quit? Unlikely. |

Nice to know I have friends on this site.
My post was insensitive, but as far as I know there are none of her family members or friends on this site (thanks Hoops). I was trying to discuss that the fct that hitchhiking around remote places is not exactly something that is high on the recommended things to do list. I thought it was a bit of an attention seek TBH.
Yet again, I have people on here questioning my intelligence. My thread wasn΄t that bad FFS. |

Although it is a meagre amount these days, I do contribute to this site and have done for most of that 8 years as well. I think that counts for something.
I feel a couple of throwaway insults, not spamming, not a campaign of being nasty, not trolling, or posting up bad links, not slandering, not using racist comments etc., they are more worthy of the post I received.
