Check out the Greyhound Derby Betting and you'll see Tyrur Kieran has gone 12/1 Favourite for the Greyhound Derby 2008 ahead of 6 others on the 16/1 mark. Surprisingly enough Barnfield on Air is now available at 20/1 for the Wimbledon Classic that gets underway on Friday 2nd May.
Last years Irish Derby winner Tyrur Rhino is available at 25/1 and the 100/1 available on Dilemmas Flight must be worth a second look.
Start studying the form and pick your prices at Greyhound Derby Betting 2008.

Best of luck. :p |

Nick Savva's gone 3 handed this year.
Westmead Lord, Westmead Keawn & Dilemma's Flight.
I thought he was entering Westmead Osprey & Westmead Diver - I think a bit too young for this years derby - Next year :p |

If you take a look at the Greyhound Derby Betting page on my web site you will see Dilemma's Flight a very generous 100/1 and Blue Square offer 1/4 odds each way for the first 6, so all finalists.
They have given me a link and offered a £25 free bet for new accounts, if you bet £25 each way on Dilemma's Flight you could be looking at a great investment if she makes the final again this year.
Take a look at Greyhound Derby Betting
Be lucky. :p |

Well the 20/1 on Barnfield On Air looks a good value now. He showed his liking to Wimbledon last night and this morning Blue Square have cut him to 16/1 afetr his 28.60 display beating Tony Collett's Lenson Joker.
The early exit of Puppy Derby winner Ballymac Under was the shock of the night and the bookies must be happy about being able to bank all that anti post money this early in the competition.
So now that the Greyhound Derby 2008 has got under way and we are half way through the heats we know a little more. Tonight's heats will tell us more and let's hope that all our fancied runners make it through to the second round next weekend.
Westmead Lord at least made it through and keeps his Derby Double hopes alive and with the likes of Rossacredibility and Ballymac Under making early exits Nick Savva must be smiling this morning.
Book your spot for next weekend at Greyhound Derby 2008 and enjoy the fun. |

My two pence worth:
Droopys Maestro - Rails - slowly away in heat but ran on well. Given a better start and a clear will improve. Given that most runners in the latter stages are usually fast up could get the space to queeze though on the rails. May win a few as well as creeping though in 3rd spot. Worth a nibble EW.
Droopys wells - Wide - Fast up and wins from the front. Could go a long way with good draws and consistant starts. Another worth a nibble as an improving dog.
Mustang Garcia - Rails - Another who is fast up but this one is lightly raced. Started racing at 400m and is now staying the 480m trip. Has scope for improvement, But likely to get knock out if missing the break.
Tyrur Rhino - wide - Has a lot of scope for improvement and ran a blinder in the heats. Currently 20-1 and well worth an EW shot.
Barnfield slippy - Wide - Slowly away and runs on. This distance is too short for him but every year at least one dog in this bracket gets to the final. Capable of running a very fast time given a clear as his 28:60 in the qualifiers shows. May pick up another win on the way but I would be happy to see him creep though in 3rd every round. A big price and capable of making the final. An EW value bet.
Toosey Blue - wide - Highly tried but consistant sort. Ran a very fast time from the front in the qualifiers. Recently beat farloe reason 4l at wimbledon before finding trouble at hall green and having the places reversed. Given the difference in price between the two I know which I would prefer to be on. EW chance.
Bubbly totti - Wide - Another for whom 480M is just a bit too short. But this one is as consistant as they come. Seldom outside of the first 3 and with improvement could be the supprise package. I expect him to keep qualifying and may pick up a heat on the way. Good EW bet.
Barnfield on air - rails - Class act in the race with a string of track records to his name. Can do at both ends of the race as well. So why is he not Favourite? Well he has a tendancy to miss the break every now and then. In a knock out compitition that could be his undoing. Expect fireworks from this one for sure. The Missed break tag however puts me off him.
Farloe reason - Rails - usually fast up but sometimes is Moderately away which maybe his undoing. Runs consistantly fast times and wins a lot of them but in a knockout compo one mistake can cost dearly. Expect some big wins before supprisingly going out. Too short
tyrur kieran - rails - has bags of early and scope for improvemnt but his moderate qualifing performance and price puts me off.
I have yet to have a bet as normal I wait for the first round to finish. One for is for sure I wont be doing all of this lot!!!! |

Heat Winner Ronnies Hustle took the scalp of Greyhound Derby hopeful Westmead Keawn last night at Wimbledon in a night that saw some more surprises.
Dilemmas Flight failed to make it through to the second round and Claude Gardener must have been disappointed to see his Spears Tarquynn get checked out of it at the third bend when making his challenge.
Fraser Black was another trainer that will be wanting to forget Wimbledon Derby 2008 quickly and get back to his Rathangan based kennels and start think forward to the Irish Greyhound Derby 2008. 3 runners and no luck, all 3 heading home.
So let's hope that the second round draw will make for some great races and see what matches will be coming our way at Wimbledon. :p |

Here's a note I found that George Primarolo wrote in the Racing Post....
However, on a personal note, the story of the night has to be the return of Barnfield On Air. As he showed last year, he comes to hand that little bit later and I'm sure Sam Poots and Darran Keefe will have been delighted with that run. As each week goes by and the more the sun shines, I'm convinced Barney will get better and better. And that can only spell trouble for the rest of the field.
Glad I took the 20/1 that they had on offer. :p |
|

Well I had a bet on these two
Tyrur Rhino 20-1
Barnfield slippy 25-1
And a little tickle on these.
Droopys Maestro
Droopys wells
Mustang Garcia
Toosey Blue
Bubbly totti
Fortunately all of them are in separate heats and they all have a good chance of qualifying. |

| delboy01 |
Anyone else looked at the 2nd round yet?
Some great racing and some good bets.
I'm going to have a bit more on Bubbly totti before friday. Although beaten by the fav twice in the irish was only 1 1/4 lengths and 3 1/4 (crowded) behind and ran a time 0.05 secs off tyrur kierans winning time in the final. totti is 33's with kieran at 8's!!!
I think the best price greyhound with a good chance in the 2nd round is mustang garcia if he starts at 3-1 I will be amazed. Has been backed with several bookies and has a range from 33 to 100's!!!! I fully expect him to lead all the way. Queue a missed break and an exit!!
The other one I like is Droopys wells. Has a great draw in a race lacking early pace. Again should lead all the way.
Can't believe its not on sky. :( |

Not looked too much into round 2. From memory, the 1st few heats looked tough which may have a few surprises.
Melodys Pat looks a shoe in on Saturday. Keep topping up on it hoping to lay a bit off on Sunday. Could do with the cash with the next month I've got. Next 5 weekends are taken up with Poker, girlfriends birthday, playoff final, greyhound derby and then epsom derby. |

Heres the card with form. (edited to add heat prices)
http://www.bluesquaregreyhoundderby...ages/Sat3rd.pdf
I have 3 on their own and only one race with two selections in, and that is now a 5 dog race. So not too bad.
Heat 1 - Tyrur Kieran has a good draw in trap 1 with 2 good starters outside of him. Droppys tobey in 6 is the threat as he has two slow starters inside him. This should be a straight match with kieran coming out best. £rd place. I dunno 1-6-?
Prices: Tyrur Kieran (1/2) , Rio Quando (11/4) , Droopys Tobey (6) , Cyclers Lark (14) , A Million Maid (25) , Cats Whiskers (25)
Heat 2 - Seanis lad has a plumb draw in 1 but doesn't stay. Loyal Honcho in 3 should pick off the leader by half way. Kilkenny lonjack in 5 missed the break last time up and had lots of trouble in running but still ran a good time. one of the remaining runners, who all finish well, picking up trap 1 on the run-in. Which one is anyones guess!!! 3-5-?
Prices: Loyal Honcho (11/10) , Kilkenny Lonjack (2) , Romeo Turbo (9/2) , Seanis Lad (7) , Ronnies Hustle (12) , Monis Pet (50)
Heat 3 - This one should be a gift for toosey blue in trap 5. None of the 4 inside him have shown any early pace at all. With the 6 dog the only other fast starter in the race, and he doesn't stay. Farloe batman in 2 has run two good races despite trouble and I take him to run on for 2nd. With 3rd going to either 6 or 1 who is back in his fav box. Just watched the vidoe's of the heats and have to say that tyrur laurel seems to flatter to decieve. Shows great pace from half way and round the 3rd/4th bends but then just stays on one paced.
5-2-1
Prices: Tyrur Laurel (5/4) , Toosey Blue (7/4) , Annual Scholes (11/2) , Commander Chief (11/2) , Farloe Batman (12) , Barnfield Leo (50)
Heat 4 - If love tigerin 2 hits the lids as he did last time out then its his for the taking. If not then lenson joker may pick up his first race having been runner up twice. Droppys obafemi in 3 ran well last time up and could also be in with a shout. Truth be told this one is a toughy!! 5-2-3
Prices: Love Tiger (7/4) , Lenson Joker (11/4) , Droopys Obafemi (4) , Splanc (5) , Captain Solo (8) , Farley Legend (8)
Heat 5 - This heat is full of ifs and buts. most of them have had good starts and poor starts in the two rounds so far. traps 1 and 2 both showed early pace and led all the way last time up, but both were slowly away before that. farloe reason in 3 has not had his trapping shoes on as yet and may find himself in 4th at the first behind 1, 2 and 4 (melodys pat) who also gets away well. However, if 3 turns untroubled I expect him to take it up on the run in and fight out the finish with the fast finishing 6. Catunda harry in 4 has been slowly away thus far and is still 3rd fav to win the derby dispite not being very impressive at all. He could turn in last place and with 5 of the runners being tagged as railers or middle he could struggle to get though. Barnfield slippy, in 6, is the only wide runner and is another that has shown early pace and missed the break in two heats. however, he ran from last to 2nd last time out and ran wide at the first. With a better start I expect him to pick up the leaders on the run in. The chances of the others depends on the start so whoever gets round in front should hold on for 2nd or 3rd with with 6, 3 and 4 all flying at the finish!!
6-3-?
Prices: Farloe Reason (5/2) , Catunda Harry (3) , Express Ego (7/2) , Barnfield Slippy (9/2) , Blue Jockey (11/2), melodys pat (7)
Heat 6 - Another heat with only one wide seed and again this one should go to that runner. Bubbly totti has been very consistant and runs on strongly from half way. Trap 1 boherna on air has also been consistant but seems to not quite stay the trip. Trap 3 mustang garcia was bumped early last time out but was very poorly drawn in trap 5 and as a railer that is the kiss of death. He was very fast up in the first round and with a slow starter in 2 a repeat of that will see him lead.
6-3-1
5 dog race getmeadoctor in 4 needs one!!!
Prices: Bubbly Totti (4/7) , Boherna On Air (3) , Mustang Garcia (4) , Youllhavetogo (14) , Lenson Express (25)
Heat 7 - A right lottery 5 fast starters. Ain't got a clue!!!
The prices reflects what I said!!
Prices: Machu Picchu (11/4) , Dilemmas Flight (7/2) , Love Mac (7/2) , Seanis Strike (4) , Barnfield Woody (5) , Fabulous Azure (6)
Heat 8 - Why not save the best till last!!! The new fav for the derby barnfield on air is again in trap 1 but with 2 fast starters on his outside in 2 and 3 he could be squeezed for room at the first. Traps 4 and 5 are make weights, if you can have that in the derby!!! In trap 6 we have Droppys maestro who has won by a head and short head in the previous two rounds. Something has to give with 4 of the 6 unbeaten in the event thus far!!!
This one is all about the first bend but with an inside berth Barnfield on air should take the race with trap 6 taking 2nd.
1-6-3
Prices: Barnfield On Air (4/5) , Kryptonite (5/2) , Droopys Maestro (5) , Ullid Conor (10) , Blonde Dino (12) , Side Leg (20
May your anti-post selections get though whatever happens. Especially airport cabby who has a very tasty anti post voucher and who should consider laying some of it off!!!! |

Me no understand. He has a rails tag not middle. Anyhoo he won nicely. |

| They were saying the other day about him being badly drawn in 1 then too. I assumed they meant he was more middle but they probably just mean trap 1 at Wimbledon in the Derby is shit. Who knows. Melodys Pats got a tough one for me to get some cash back |
|
|
| delboy01 |
In barney's reports it says rails to middle and middle to rails. So I would say he moves off slightly when in 1 and across when in 3. So 2 would be perfect but then you have a problem with a fast starter on the inside.
On saturday he has two fast starters on his immediate outside so it could be fun at the first if one of them gets half a length on him.
Pat is 7-1 outsider of the party and will need a best start to be incontention. |

Gutted! All 3 of mine left in are in heat 3. With the fav and 4 of the remaining 5 wide seeds!!!! How unlucky is that. 2 of the heats have no wide runners and the other just 1. That is the toughest heat as well. Could lose all 3 in one go!!! :( |

Well I told you to get on Barnfield at 20's and Dilemma Flight at 100's are they are both there at this stage.
Dilemma's looks like she is coming to hand at the right time for Nick Savva and I know who I would want to be handling my sellection at this stage.
If they both get to the final "soMeone" must owe me a drink...... :p |

If it wins I'll happily buy you a drink :p
Also jumped on the Dilema's flight bandwagon just now at 84/1 |

Just laid a few of mine off to ease the liability (I kept lumping on with any left over change and trying to be sensible!)
Melodys Pat now wins £1400
Tyrur Keiran now wins £5
Barnfield On Air now wins £90
Dilemnas Flight now wins £600
Anything else loses me £45
Tyrur Keirans looking good still, now downs to 3/1. Im writing Dilemna Flight off yet again tomorrow. That should see it in the semis! |

You can't go claiming Barny as one of yours! What is it 3 track records and dog of the year? How you find that one? :-)
As for Dilemnas Flight (last years finalist), I'll give you it but only backed cos of the price and it's record last year, but you can have a few on me if it wins (could have had a crate if I didn't soft cock and lay off) |

Go to this page and scroll down to where I entered the bit about Darran telling me Barnie would be back to himself in Wimbledon after a disappointing Scottish Derby.
http://forums.cpfc.org/showthread.p...;pagenumber=291
At that stage the "Tip" I gave was that he was great value at 20/1 and it should be taken advantage of. That he was always a very fast dog has never been a doubt in my mind.
As for the master of the game "Nick Savva" he will be doing his best tonight to make sure his charge takes another step towards the final.
If both Barnie and Diemma's get to the final I guess we'll all be having a drink in Plough Lane to celebrate. :p |
