Anyone going? I shall be there.

I went to the Surrey v Essex FPT game last year and the crowd was about 6,000. I think Essex won but was a bit too drunk to know or care! (though Cook looked quality for them).

Would be good to see plenty of Palace at the game as Brighton normally big it up at the Sussex home games.

Was going to but have meetings i cannot move that afternoon.

I'm thinking about this one or the Somerset game on the Saturday. Does anyone know what the rules are like for bringing booze in Whitgift, are there the same sort of restrictions as the Oval?
Gollum
I'm hoping to go.....always a good day out at a wonderful setting.

Last year I think it was something like 4 cans or 1 bottle of wine..........then right in front of us on the way in, in clear view of all the stewards, a bloke carried a 24 pack of cans through without a blink of an eye!

There's an offy across the road too for half time (or whatever the cricket term is).

Thought I'd bump this as the game is tomorrow and the weather has improved. Think I might even wear my Palace top!

Couldn't find another thread, so gatecrashing this one - just you warn you guys that tickets for the 20/20 games at the Oval are selling out fast !!

Are you any wiser than me as to why there was no play at all until 3pm? It seemed utterly ridiculous to me. And then when they finally started the light was worse than it had been all day. Then at the first hint of rain they all b*ggered off back into the pavillion. Presumably the players preferred to play cards than play in a "meaningless" match.

I thought the whole shambles made the Palace box office look efficient by comparison. :grrr:

To be fair, with the amount of rain during the night before, it was probably a sodden outfield, then when they get out - it rains more constantly.

Did you keep your ticket? If you look on the back you'll find that because the game was less than 24.5 overs that you can use it for another FTP game.

Was disappointing to see them go off so easily but at least we got to see Afzaal hit all those sixes!

Also bought Stevie Kember a beer in The Woodman afterwards as thanks for Stockport (and Burnley 83).:p

The outfield certainly wasn't sodden ~ hundreds of kids were happily playing on it while we were waiting for the game to start. There really wasn't much water on it at all.

Thanks - but the problem is that Surrey don't have any more FPT games this season, having failed to qualify for the Quater-Finals.

And I'm afraid I missed all those sixes having left when they went off after seven overs! :(

I forgot about that, still it's valid for next season too!

Shame, he really did go mental until he inevitably got caught.
Saying that, Batty hit the best one right into the Brighton Road. Dont think they even bothered looking for it (probably fearing the damage it could've caused!)
