Well that's the play offs over with. They can produce some exciting moments at times. How is your squad building going? We've nipped in with an early signing, which is always encouraging.
Big Gav
Morning Pikey, you class Hudson as an encouraging signing do you?

You know what they say, the 'early bird catches the worm'. You've caught the worm that turned, slowly.

Wise that Pardew has moved so quickly in the transfer market. Charlton's delapidated house is in need of a complete overhaul, whereas we just need to paint a couple of walls.

you've come on to brag about signing Hudson . look at the other threads no one is really bothered about him going. There is a reason for that . He isnt very good.
Then again its not surprising you think its something to get excited about, you clearly dont know much about football you thought chorlton would go straight back up and we would finish in the bottom half.
Oh please keep your caravan in the inside lane please :clown: :clown: :clown: :clown:

Well 'the fox' I seem to have read quite a few comments on here saying he's class. But of course, now he's useless. Strange how Wanker was trying to re sign him. Fact is, we signed him on a pre contract 3 weeks ago, pre playoffs, and Simes and Col didn't even know.

Ha ha. I recall them crowing over signing Agent Dowie. Agents Pardew and Hudson to carry on the good work.

Hilarious! He would have looked a bit of a div if he had done this, we had gone up and he had said 'Premiership Football, no thanks, I'd like to go with the mattress lovers in the Coca Cola if it's all the same'

Ah, that's made me chuckle, thanks kafka (you t wat)

Hudson was usless, his distribution was poor, was always prone to making errors and the odd own goal.

I cant wait to play these pikies :clown: next season.

So bad he only missed one game (Which was enforced by Warnock for some odd reason) in a defense that was one of, if no the best in the division last season.

He is good in the air, and agree somewhat clumsy, but would throw himself in where no man (or Cort) would, and made a bunch of saving tackles time and time again.

He was the one constant when those around him were rotating… Cort, Lawrence, Fonte and Hill.

Not worth 11K a year, so kudos to him for getting that out of Charlton. My humble opinion is I’m sorry to see him go.

Didn’t he have a friend or relative who posts on the BBS? I would like to hear what he has to say about the whole affair.

It's Hudson's perogative to find himself the best deal he can, good luck to him, he did'nt do a bad job, but then again, he was'nt great either, I think it was his slip in trying to tackle Trundle at Ashton Gate that probably proved costly in our last match - and he made plenty of slip ups over the four year since Dowie bought him - so more of the same for the Haddocks, please Mark!

If Neil Warnock has'nt already lined up somebody at least as good as Mark Hudson, I would be very surprised - centre half must be the least specialised position on the entire pitch - look how often you see full-backs and midfielders called in to cover this position and do a good job at it!

kafka does amuse me :) Standard Charlton inferiority complex. So weird, even if for the first time in years it was justifiable this season.

People bitterness towards Hudson is making me chuckle. Hes a good defender, i wanted him to stay and there would of been loads of these :lux: :lux: :lux: on the BBS had he stayed.

Spot on. Hudson was far better then most will give him credit for, certainly now!

Disappointed to see him go but all the same don't think he will single handedly get you promoted!

You'll probably find far more differing opinions on Hudson among Palace fans than there are differing opinions on Pardew among Charlton fans.
He's that kind of player.
"Is he any good? Or not? Hmmmm."

Personally I think Hudson has improved a great deal over the last year.
He's gone from erratic to above adequate, thats down to NW and possibly better players around him at the end of the season compared to the beginning of the season.
He's now a solid enough Championship player.

But he's a battler and I think its encouraging for you that Super Alan Dewdrop is even thinking about signing this kind of player.
It's as if he's finally realised where you are and wants to put the brakes on.

But he could revert to the old Hudson; struggling to keep up, indecisive, poor distribution, and the heading ability of a 50 pence piece. If he does and you're anywhere near the halfway line you'll want to keep your wits about you.

I will be interested to see how he gets on under Pardew.

Good luck to him.

Hudson is a decent enough player at this level but I would have been furious if we had held on to him at the expense of 11k a week. Paying the Hudson's of this world that sort of money is a fast track to financial ruin.

Also spot on! A very expensive gamble by Charlton, that parachute money won't last forever (certainly not paying out £11k a week on a player who at best will be a decent championship player! - near on £2million over 3 years).

I would have been very worried had we started giving out contracts along those lines when we were relegated let alone a year afterwards! Have a feeling that if Charlton don't get up in the next 2 years they could be heading into very deep trouble.

Being honest about it to call him 'class' would be wrong. He's a decent enough Championship centre half who really came of age under Neil Warnock. However, he is prone to the odd clanger every now and then. I think Palace have lost out a bit because we didn't get a fee for him, and I think Jordan does need to rethink his policy of allowing players contracts to run down. However I also question whether he is really worth the 11k a week you are apparently stumping up for him. I do feel that he improved greatly under Warnock and it will be interesting to see how he fairs at another club, especially one who harbour a hostility to all things Palace.

If he wasnt on a free would he have been offered £11k by Charlton? Good bit of business for them I think.

In response to your original question, our squad building is going terribly.

Out - Captain and centre back in best defence in division

Close to out on a free- Top scorer

Close to out - Striking legend

Close to out for next to nothing - 16 year old prodigy

IN - No-one

More irrevalent outs - Mark Kennedy, and some youngsters.

You clowns just can't help yourselves. Getting one over on us hasn't been a good idea, has it? Do i need to remind you that getting one over on us culminated in your relegation plus the wasting of 2 yrs transfer budget? And agent Pardew is doing a fine job now !!!

I was thinking this the other day. 11k a week may sound a lot, but I guess the way Charlton look at it is that they didn't have to pay a transfer fee. The one flaw with that is that if Hudson doesn't peform there then they are stuck with a player on big wages who will be more than happy to sit out his contract there rather than move on to another club. That's the advantage in paying a fee and paying less in wages to the player. It'll be interesting to see how he does, and it's not often I use the word interesting in relation to the snoozefest that is Charlton Athletic.

Pitcher played for Charlton in about 1993, I doubt Kafka and his fellow nouveux post Euro 96 bussed in chums would even know who he was.

Pesrsonally always liked MH, but fans were 50:50 split on him I think. He is certainly not worth £11k a week, and I don't believe he is getting that.
