Have been following this intermittently.

Some excellent batting from Chanderpaul but what on earth is Katich doing back in the Australian side. If he's one of their best batsmen, England shouldn't have too much to worry about next summer...

Indeed, now all they have to do is bring back Jason Gillespie in time for the Ashes next year :D

Katich has scored a record number of runs in the last domestic season so was picked to replace the injured Hayden. Personally I would of preferred to of seen Voges or Marsh given a chance.
Ben H
He's always done well in domestic cricket but so have the likes of Mark Ramprakash and Graeme Hick. Like them, he's never performed at international level, only has 3 centuries in 7 years of playing, 25 tests and averages 36. Not good enough.
Raoul Duke
I think that Katich had suffered the same fate as Darren Lehman as both were picked when not in particularly good form but were viewed as being next in line.

Katich is hopefully only filling in for Hayden while he's out injured and that once Hayden retires (beleived to be after the Ashes) a younger player such as Shaun Marsh will be ready to step in.

Well he's not doing too bad, 113 in the second test.
Currently 109 not out, shared an opening stand of 223 with Jaques.
Ben H
He had to come good at some point;)

Still a crap average.

Katich just had to be picked after the summer he had. Broke the record for the most runs in a Pura Cup season and averaged over one hundred (I think).

Pretty hard to ignore form like that.

After starting this thread he just had to go and score 148no. Unbelievable:rolleyes:

Any danger of having him banned from the slips cordon?
Can't catch a cold.
ozeagle

I saw him drop two in the first innings. The first was fair enough but I did'nt see anyone talk to him after the second went down. :D I guess thats Haydens normal position?

Good catch from Jaques at short-leg to get Marshall.

will be all over by lunch, nothing left after Bravo.
