Top ten games thread has got me thinking, what games from whenever ago should be revived now? Some great concepts back then (imagination hasn't changed, just the tech) could be done justice with a modern machine.
Some I'd love to see to get the ball rolling:
Carrier Command
Speedball (AFAIK something in the pipeline here - whoop!)
Monkey Island (whatever happened to the puzzle genre?)
How many people need to agree before we can convince a developer to take one on? :p |

I've just done a bit of research and apparently there have been a few sort of semi-remakes and none of them have really worked.
I want speedball! :( |

Never played Oddworld, platformer right? What was the appeal over something like Mario? |

Barbarian I wasn't sure about, what'd make it more special than a 3D hack'n'slash that we do have around today? |

| I'm not really a fan of the idea of reviving old games series. It's good to think of new ideas that suit the capabilities of the new hardware. Although if done well I would like to see a new Road Rash and Streets of Rage. |

It had a little midget troll that kicked your opponent's severed head off the screen after a decapitation. :D |

Think Road Rash had an N64 outing? I'm sure I've played a more recent one than the original, and I'm sure it's translated pretty well. Kapow! :o
I dunno, I quite often think old games were sold short by the hardware, like I said ideas are ideas.
There's got to be a stage in every game's development where things have been hampered by it being too difficult to do with current technology. Add ten years to that process and you could have some stonkers waiting in the wings :) |

| there's been a new Speedball out for a while for the PC, but from what I've read it isn;t quite what it should be. it'd only be worth getting if there was a perfect recreation of the original Speedball 2 bundled in anyway |

Somebody heard me:
quote: Retailer Amazon has listed tentative dates and platforms for Star Wars Battlefront III, long rumored to be in development at Free Radical, developers of Haze and Timesplitters. While we've been under the impression that the UK based dev was hard at work we didn't know how hard at work they are. According to Amazon, Battlefront III is coming to everything — Wii, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, DS, PSP, PlayStation 2. OK, not everything, since it doesn't list a PC version, but if these listings are accurate, anyone and everyone will have access to a version of the game come March 2009. We await more news at E3 next week.
