... when the first choice keeper was sent off.

Everyone knows Johnny Salako had to do the deed but has there anyone else since?

Warnock keeps playing without a sub goalie on the bench so I think it'll happen once next season.

Been thinking about it since the weekend but no names spring to mind?!

I can only remember Salako.

Surely not the last one to do so though!?

It was said that Fletch would be our keeper if it were to happen, and before that everyone said Borrowdale was a handy goalkeeper. But I dont think they ever actually went in.

Ok if salad was last stand in keeper was HH the 1 before him?
Maximus
did Dean Austin ever do it?

I'm pretty sure there's been no one since Salako. Substitute goalies were allowed pretty soon afterwards anyway and most managers have used one.

Before that, Henry Hughton took over from George Wood at home to Shrewsbury in 84/85 and Nicky Chatterton filled in for Tony Burns in the last home match of the season against Lincoln in 76/77.

Since substitute goalkeepers were allowed, we've had ro replace an injured keeper at least 5 times so it's only a matter of time before it happens again. We've been much luckier with keepers getting sent-off considering how common it's become nowadays.

Can never see the point of not having a sub keeper FFS when you can have 5 subs these days, he had Jagielka at Sheff Utd who was a very good keeper, but he was a one off, c'mon Warnock

Looks like Palace's first substitute goalkeeper was Rhys Wlimot for Nigel Martyn at Forest on 2nd January 1995.

Matt Clarke was substituted three times (by Kolinko (twice) and Carasso).

Berthelin by Kolinko, Kolinko by Micopoulos (League Cup v Coventry), Kiraly by Speroni and lastly Iain Turner by Scott Flinders (home to Colchester 9th Dec 2006).

Remember that game but always thought it was against Carlisle.

It was a mideweek fixture and pouring down with rain when mad George gashed his knee IIRC. Pretty sure it was the game that was under 4k attendance as well?

why? its very rare for a keeper to need to be replaced and if it gives us an extra attacking option then im all for it, if warnock believes he has someone who is capable of filling in for a game then game on!

It was Shrewsbury; official attendance was 4,002.

I had blanked that from my mind. Didn't we lose to a 90th minute Gary Bull goal? The Forest fans couldn't believe that lumpen oaf had actually scored. Still, revenge at the end of the month back there in the cup game.

It was part of the Shrews taming of the Palace. H was crap in goal wasn't he? (Didn't he punch when right into the goal that night?) At least the salad made some saves.

I was there with my brother. I think we were 2-0 up? Mr Wood's injury looked very bad, so much we thought it was a broken leg. Henry battled between the sticks, but he made a funny attempt to punch the ball late on, and I think it ended 2-2.
Mad Max
Haven`t I read somewhere that Fletch is very good between the sticks?
