Heres the problem:
My brother and I can only use Virgin as they already have a line in our house. Plus we are using the BT line with Tiscali but I need the net for the computer in my room to do my things, my music etc...
Setting wireless up has proved fruitless. Virgin insist they can't install two lines!
So is there a device to split the line from the modem, so two PCs can read the broadband line from the modem. Basically is there an ethernet cable that splits into two?
Does this make sense to anyone?
Cheers

Why did the attempt at wireless prove fruitless? I have one BT line, two laptops and a desktop that connect via wireless. It's the simplest solution.

Sorry was having a bit of a panic. I think maybe an ethernet cable splitter jobby shall do the trick...

Not sure what your problem is. Wireless routers normally have Ethernet connections on the back we have three wired and two wireless all running at the same time no problem. why have you got virgin and BT you only need one.

Even if you get an ethernet splitter thing you will still need a router to plug two cables into (basically AFAIK they work by effectively combining 2 CAT5 cables into one) so thats not a solution.
Just to repeat what everyone else has said, get a router (cheap wireless one from ebuyer for £15), plug your cables into it (or connect to it wirelessly), job done! |

Make sure it is a cable router if you are connecting it to your Virgin connection (assuming it's not Virgin ADSL) or an ADSL router if you are connecting it to you BT internet.

Forget virgin and just buy a wireless router for the Tiscali connection on the BT line. They're only cheap.
