... or still do, possibly.
What were/are your faves?
Following on from Baloo's dark secrets regarding Dungeons & Dragons, I was a bit of a Hero Quest addict, although I always had to play the evil wizard being the oldest of four brothers. A real classic.
Football-wise, I used to have one just called Table Soccer or something by Waddingtons, was basically just like tiddywinks with eleven red pieces and eleven blue ones and a goal at each end. Loved it though. :D
Also a game called Emlyn Hughes Team Tactix, which still is probably the only decent football board game in history. I also had Terry Venables Football Manager (ok) and Wembley (shite).
Favourite game of all time though was called Escape From Atlantis. I actually managed to pick up a brand new version on eBay last year and it's the one board game that, even in my mid-twenties, I can still enjoy like a kid. :) |

Still play Balderdash sometimes.
And my niece's Simpsons Cluedo briefly rekindled my enthusiasm for it over the Christmas holiday.
Used to play Risk, Totopoly and The Game of Life in my younger days.
Never much liked Monopoly - too long-winded. |

Risk. Any similarities between me and Hitler are purely co-incidental.
It was also the only way I ever retained any geographic knowledge and I still think that the world starts f America and ends East of Asia. |

Travel Go was always the family favourite.
Personally I liked Risk and Stratego... |

Was Mouse Trap the biggest waste of time or what?
Great board games included Wembley, Totopoly (Horse No.10 always seemed to win when I played it) loved Monopoly ( so much so that I failed my mocks as I was playing it non-stop in 19991 when I should have been revising) and a brilliant game that my mate got from a charity shop called The Bottom Line. Similar to Monopoly but much more flowing in that once you got a set of anything you were encouraged to sell it for megabucks and then open the game back up and allow other people to start buying stuff, unlike Monopoly where once a property is sold it stays sold for the rest of the game. If you see it, buy it. :p |

| It would have to be Totopoly for me. Shortly followed by Grand Prix, which was a very similar game with cars (In my case Grim, the number 6 car always seemed to win to the point that my brother and I would fight over it) |
|
|
| Gooders |
Grand Prix? I thought it was called Formula 1?
Used to play that all the time - "tyre wear 1, brake wear 1". :) |
|

| Risk was an all time favourite; Buccaneer was popular for a while; Wembley; the Waddington's one that Ben referred to; Cluedo. |

| My aunt used to work for MB/Hasbro so we used to get loads of freebies and the cupboards at home are stuffed full of them - used to love Game Of Life. I had the original Hero Quest as well but could never get my head round it and only took it all out of the box once. |

| Good lord - Careers - had forgotten that. |

| Formula 1, what a great game that was. Thanks for reminding me. Colditz was good as well but agree with Gosling, chess was by far and away my favourite. One day I promise myself I will start playing it again. For 10 years I played for the school and county and entered many individual competitions but sadly have hardly played for 20 years. |

Totopoly was ok as were Buccaneer and Cluedo, Monopoly always went on for too long. I played one more recently which involved stealing the Crown Jewels from the Tower of London and that was ok for a wet Sunday.
I also had Wembley, which was boring and didn't feature Palace (surprisingly enough), just a card and dice game.
There's very little to beat Scrabble, however, unless you're playing my wife, who knows every word featuring X, Q or Z in every language in the world and sometimes I think Martian and Venusian too. |

Formula 1...classic.....and as for Colditz...majot controversy c1975 when my brother (the Germans) let me get out of the inner castle and then played his 'Shoot to Kill' card...just becaise it was my 'David McCallum'...still complain about it to this day (he's a typical Spurs fan) |

This is a half-decent Totopoly reminder site:
http://www.cix.co.uk/~morven/toto.html
Walroy Stables
Stevedon Stables
Black, cost 60 each: (1) Dark Warrior, (2) Flamenco, (3) Dorigen.
Red, cost 45 each: (4) Marmaduke Jinks, (5) Leonidas II, (6) Overcoat.
Yellow, cost 30 each: (7) Play On, (8) Priory Park, (9) Knight Error.
Blue, cost 20 each: (10) King of Clubs, (11) Jerome Fandor, (12) Elton.
The horses names "are the winners of the Lincolnshire Handicap run at Lincoln (now long since closed down) in the 12 years before the game was produced", and that the names of the stables "apparently are based on the inventors of the game". |

We used to play Pit when I was a kid - it's a game where you have to corner the market in stuff like Flax, Wheat and Oats by shouting a lot. Anyway, I bought it to play with the family at Christmas and they've now added modern products like Coffee and Soya Beans - a move which produced an excellent drunken anti-PC rant from my mum.
Maz - the square of no return was Burst Blood Vessel, I think. |

From Sunny's Totopoly site:
"The 36-inch remix - This is a greatly expanded version of the game I created partly in response to the perception that the normal game is sometimes a bit small and too quickly finished."

Pit is a timeless classic. The shouting and screaming, snatching of cards, yelling 'TWO' into yer grannie's face.... ah, happy days.

I readily admit to also playing 'Mah Jong' in the East in the 70s, but alas I have totally forgotten the rules and would require a 'Refresher Course' to play once again. |

off the subject a bit , but can any one help on this
in the 80's i had like an INTERNATIONAL sticker book , They wernt stickers though , they were like Plastic Cards that fastened into the book by the 4 corners .
on the middle pages they were like SUPERSTARS or something , with players such as Zico , Socrates , Schifo ( belgium player ) gracing this area amongst others
i remeber the cards being expensive as a kid , as the normal stickers were 10p a pack for 5 and these were 20 p a pack of 3
does any one recall what this album was called and who made it ?
thanks
