Vacuum cleaners. I seem to remember a few years back that a reg, European I think, was introduced that limited the power usage of vacs or something like that. Either that or it was the ‘dirt preservation society’ because I sweat modern vacs don’t have the suction like they used to and ‘hoovering’ is rubbish compared to the gold old days. These days I have to sweep up after vacuuming. Wtf’s that all about!

Not sure if the above explanation is accurate but if this was a green strategy are they sure that we aren’t all vacuuming for longer that is outweighing having a powerful vacuum ? Also what an odd place to start conserving power.

Signed Mrs Mopp.

Needless to say, I won't be returning.

I assume you can still by a Franco keyring at any self-respecting roadside outlet?

Being colour vision deficient and watching football is getting harder. Their keeper wore blue yesterday. Luckily for me we barely got near their goal.

Yeah - can't argue the science of it - but as a consumer - it's a lot harder to vaccum these days and we have a Vaccum cleaner graveyard to prove that we have tried a few. Just seems like an odd thing to focus upon with legislation.

Odd one.

Without really reading the Guardian article in full, maybe it's a Health and Safety thing? Too many small dogs and pets getting sucked into the vacuum, not to mention people who might have been doing themselves mischief performing some sort of sexual act upon themselves or a loved one!

For those who dont know, Vox is a Spanish right wing political party that is somewhat akin to (though not as extreme as) Britain First.

You could have stopped at wristband.

You should have asked him if it was a gay/trans thing. That would have wound him up.

Errrm I am both deeply worried about the health and safety of your loved one and surprised at how small your cat and dog must be …… or how big your vacuum is?

Please seek help from VCAS (vacuum cleaner abuse society) as soon as you can. Probably a good time to change the old bag too………..

P.S. please don’t ever buy a floor polisher

I wasn't being entirely serious... but the EU has form for stuff like that!

Hedgehog 12-03-2023 08:24 PM

Anyway... and I appreciate there are devices out there to counter this - When we first turn the hot water tap on at anytime during the day, we just get cold water for what seems like a minute, wasting what would appear to be at least a gallon of water, before the water gets warm, let alone "hot". Within seconds of getting hot, you have to add the cold water into the mix to be bearable.

If you turn the water off, but need more hot water a minute later, you more or less have to go through the whole process again.

This is particularly annoying as we are supposed to be in a drought (although I think this my be over for a while) and wasting a gallon or two of water waiting for it to get hot is pretty frustrating.

Again, I appreciate this is a third world way of getting hot water, i.e. from a 40 gallon gas fired water heater that is out in the garage, 30 feet from the faucets, but the alternatives would be a pain to get installed.

Probably a bit irrational this one; I find the posters/covers for stand up comedians DVD/show really annoying.

Oh man... I read on here recently that the 20 Premier Club strips (home / away / keeper / 3rd?) are subject to scrutiny by some kind of AI computer code that checks for various types of colour deficiencies???

Anyway... I have just looked at this, and I have learnt something...

Same for me with video games - always some grandiose artwork representation of the game. Be brave and put a screenshot on the front.

Nope. Lots of Ken Follett books though, for some strange reason.

English people living in America who have forgotten that the word for a tap is a tap, not a faucet. :D

What worried me more was that the referee wore blue.

This too. As AWFWW said there is an algorithm, but that algorithm doesn't seem smart enough. It's been an issue this year more than before so something is not right.

A tap is what beer comes out off….

Although some might say American beer is the same as water.
