Just for my own benefit as I'm a bit anxious about this sort of thing ... how did they get to change the Apple id password without the existing password? Did they use a recovery email (to the account that was accessible on the phone)? That might be an important safety mechanism for us all to bear in mind.

(My hurdles are so tricky I sometimes spend ages recovering accounts. Reminds me of Men in Black II)

I have to say, as someone who's moved from the 13 Pro Max to the 15 Pro, the battery life is wank.

Im charging it twice a day just listening to music.

The banking was relatively easy to freeze although took all night - the thief transferred money between his accounts but didn’t get round to spending any. Apple will do nothing to help so unlikely he will ever get his ID, email or photos back. One 4 number passcode was all it took.

This happened to a friend of mine - caused major headaches and they went onto his Whatsapp asking for money, some people actually sent them cash. Changed my passcode to 8 digits now. May or may not help but makes it slightly harder. Need to be very careful with this when you're out now.

Damn sounds scary. Got to be careful. Got 6 digits on mine, but iphone wipes on 10th attempt so still pretty tough to crack still.

Anyone here have an Apple TV?

Any issues with the iPlayer app since upgrading to TvOS 17? I’m not able to access the home page and can only get in via the channels page. And then it buffers into a loop after about 10 minutes requiring me to restart the TV.

It’s causing traumas in this house as my daughter will burn the place down if she goes more than five minutes without Hey Duggee.

It’s been working fine for me - perhaps try uninstalling and reinstalling the app?

Thanks for the tip but that didn’t work.

Turned off the Pi Hole in case it was a deny list issue but still borked. :frown:

The 15 pro max is costing the same as the 14 pro max over here. What do they cost in the UK?

Despite the EXCLAMATION MARKS!!! this appears to be an actual thing. Not sure if it's new, but I've turned mine off:

I noticed something like this over the weekend when I put my work and personal phone together. I have turned it off.

I had a new battery put in my iPhone 8 a few months ago.

£39

Why do people keep upgrading their phones?

I did this with my previous iPhone - an iPhone 6S. It was 3.5 years old at the time.

While it improved the battery life, I ended up upgrading a year later because I still found the battery draining too fast.

Over time the OS and apps all creep up and up in processing requirements, which in turn drains the battery faster. Newer phones have more power efficient CPUs and more capacious batteries. For example the iPhone 6S had a 1715 mAh battery vs the iPhone 11's 3,110 mAh battery.

Tempted to replace the battery in my iPhone 11 now, but not sure if it's possible with the glass back being shattered.
