Thanks for the heads up.

I had read it was the first inductee into the 'podcast hall of fame' and was going to go and find it.

You have saved me the bother.

My 2 cents is that it's funny, topknot has stitched me up a few times with film/TV recommendations so I'm sticking my neck on the block here.

teeth clenchingly unfunny smug student level sniggering. The kind of thing you might get an hour of reasonably amusing content out of, **** knows how they have managed to milk 200+ half hour podcast episodes, books, TV specials, a global live show etc

I just dont understand how anyone watches it and finds it funny sorry.

I read an interview with the people behind it in the Guardian years ago and they came across as the worst sort of smug wankers. They may be lovely, obviously.

Haha have I, sorry about that. It’s all subjective of course but I couldn’t get my head around it. Give it a try though Peter, be interested to hear what you think of it.

The explosion of dog ownership and the belief that they have the right to take their dogs everywhere

Worse than that is the number of people who bought dogs during the pandemic because they thought it would be a "good idea" and as normality was restored, ending up dumping the poor animal at a rescue centre because having a dog interferes with their lifestyle.

Yes indeedy... and use the excuse they are a service dog, which is an insult to guide dogs.

And I'm a dog lover...

Ops... I didn't mean to post on here!

They don't even try to make them different, putting their own spin on the subject.

Who would you like to see present it ?

I suspect he thinks that we could do with a break from 'train journey television' in general.

I really enjoy them, gives me plenty of ideas, most of which sadly never come to fruition. My only gripe is that I wished they spent more time on the actual journey. The ones narrated by Bill Nighy are excellent. For those who don't like them, other channels are available.

Yes. Without going all JFK, a person shouldn’t ask what a dog can do for them, but what they can do for a dog. There’s so many Wankers who buy one despite having insufficient living space or free time to properly take care of them.

LOL.

I have about 10 articles saved about different train journeys, European sleeper train etc.. Add in another 20 about places to visit in The UK, Ireland and Europe.

If I ever get around to doing 5 of them, that will be an achievement.

More likely that I'll end up drinking 10 pints around match day, having a staggering tour of Selhurst's pubs, and walking down Portland Road stuffing pie and chips in my gob.

Maybe they could do a series about trying to get to away games by rail - strikes, cancellations and engineering works and all...

Including costs, overnight stays, and late fixture changes.

A season long fan's (say a group of 4) youtube or somesuch wouldn't be a bad shout.

Good point. I assume Portaloo hasn't got a scooby about what his travel costs, even in this country. He is always waving a ticket about. Did he actually pay for it? And you never see him taking the replacement bus service.

Smoke alarms. Why does replacing the battery have to be such a nightmare job.

Santos-er 02-10-2023 07:50 PM

People living in expensive, high-ceiling houses moaning about the inconvenience of having to reach the smoke alarms to replace the batteries...
