Using an official iphone contract, or not?
Do you have the App Store on your iphone?

i rang earlier to change my contract to an iPhone one, should come into effect tomorrow? surely that's not related?

yeah i have the app store, i can get onto the internet for weather, stocks, maps, app store but no method of web browsing :(

Settings > General > Reset > Reset Home Screen Layout

resets the icons locations but doesn't provide safari

At a guess, Godstone, if you haven't got the iPhone contract then you haven't got the unlimited web access yet. Re-synching after the contract is in place will probably find the Safari icon and app downloaded.

Because your contract doesn't dictate what software you have on the phone, all the software is there by default.
Even if you didnt have a data bundle, you could still use the net without a bundle.

Godders, right click on your iphone in itunes, and hit restore
