You don't need third party software to add ringtones

I think I might get one.

Can you do it through Itunes then as everytime I try it says connection error. I googled it and was told that we can not do it in the uk yet

Hasn't this been covered many times?

make a 30 sec mp3 of the ringtone
convert to aac in itunes
rename aac file to m4r
add to itunes
upload to phone
