I put this on the hotukdeals thread, but thought it might be good here too, as it's an amazing deal
--------------------------------------------------------------------- I've just signed up for this http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/sim-...228566?aui=425 I was already on the Sim 300, but on a month to month. Am happy with it and happy to commit to a year. Will now be getting 300 mins, 3000 texts and 1Gb a month for only £20 for the whole year!! Hope it benefits some of you. |
My iphone emails will not open anymore, they arrive, I can see them as normal but, cannot open any of them. The screen is frozen it seems yet all other functions of the phone work. I can open on the desktop and they then loose the unread blue dot on the handset...I am a tad thick when it comes to technology. Any suggestions please?

Hold the power button and home button for ten secs, then it should turn off, turn it back on and see if that is any better. |

Another problem I have (one of many) is, I get email attachments which I need to open (perferably on desk top) but can't, no idea how to make them open even after reading all kinds of 'help'. The files arrive as DbMail.tif and try as I might, I cannot convert it to something readable! I can however, on my phone. |
Quote:
.tif are image files, found this. http://windowssecrets.com/forums/sho...en-a-.tif-file I imagine someone more computer technical would be able to help, try one of the other threads. |

Podcasts app released - crowd goes wild
|
Quote:
Nice app though :) |
Podcasts need never go near iTunes again, that is the point
|
Yee ha!

I don't much like iTunes, and there is much that could be improved/done better in a separate App, but finding and downloading podcasts is the one thing that iTunes has always done fine - for me at least. So, perhaps I am missing something. What exactly does this App do which is an improvement on the iTunes version? |
Quote:
Also, podcasts will auto download In summary, podcasts without plugging into iTunes, sort of useful in the post pc age |

I like the app though. It just doesn't resolve my main issue which is about a decent podcast/iTunes U catalog system. |
each to their own, each to their own
I want to be PC free soon |

Hate connecting to iTunes; love that I no longer have to regularly |
Google Drive out now, Chrome later today

Had to disable wifi to sign in, lame
|
Drive works on my iPhone ok, chrome downloading now...
|
Following a reccy from Benzhiyi I've downloaded Pocket Planes.
Jeez - it's already taken over my life. |
Chrome is so much better than safari thus far - recommend it
|
How do you download these different browsers?
|
App store
|
Any ideas on when the new one will be out? I'm due an upgrade but left my iPhone 4 in a cab after one too many sherries at the weekend.

Like the way it syncs across devices, but it isn't as fast as safari on the iPhone. Just isnt.

Silly question but is tethering as easy as just turning on your Personal Hotspot and sticking in a password?
And yes I'm on the one plan. |
Yes

Possible pictures on the new iPhone 5 are available HERE.

Hopefully it is out soon. Have had my 3G S since they came out, it can't make calls, on/off button is broken (and has now fallen off), volume buttons have fallen off, it has a huge crack over half it's length right up the back, battery is woeful, constantly freezes and often needs resetting. I'm coming up to a year since my upgrade was due, and clearly need a new phone - issue is no other phone offers to me what an iPhone can, and having an iMac it has additional uses to me as I can share information across both products, again something a non-Apple product can't offer me. |
Well sEeing as you don't need your phone to make any phone calls, have decent battery life or be aesthetically pleasing, I don't see why you must have an iPhone...

They are almost identicle to the photos that did the rounds a few months back which Apple confirmed as fake. Apparently someone with far too much time on their hands created a 3D model and posted it online labelling it as real.

About time they released a statement re the iphone5 introduction as my 2 year contract on my iphone4 is coming to an end in the next month or so.
|
September 22nd
|
Guess or factual?
|
Dave never guesses. He just knows.
|
Apple iPhone 5 and iPad mini event planned for September 12, iPhone 5 release date for September 21
http://www.imore.com/apple-iphone-5-...e-september-21 |
Cheers Dave. Let's hope this turns out to be correct as will tie in perfectly.
|
Anyone else email push notifications a tardy? I keep having to click on emails for it to then update and show a load of emails that were sent previously.
I've soft rebooted a few times but no difference, except that it will work straight after rebooting before stopping again. I usually always wake up with emails but past few days this hasn't happened. |
This is just guesswork like every other one of the millions of artciles that try and work out what the features will be and when it will be released.
|
It's not going to be called the iPhone 5 either I reckon. Probably the iPhone 6 as it is the 6th iPhone. September ties in perfectly with the confirmed "Autumn" release date of iOS6
|
I got my new 4s and it's screen is kind of yellow. My 4 is nice and white and crisp. Anyone else seen this? Did they take the phone back? I've had mine 10 days
|
No it's bright white
No yellow tinge |
Has anyone had a problem with their camera since the ios6 update? Mine has suddenly gone very blurry.
|
No problems with mine, Dave.

Quote:

Oh, okay - how weird. Perhaps it will correct itself or perhaps i'll try downloading a camera app to see if it's different. Battery is normal with mine.
|
Have you checked for jam on the lens?
|
Jam?!?!
If you take a pic of a moving object, does yours blur? Mine is an iPhone 4 BTW. |

To still have 60-70%. I have to do a mini charge when I get in for it to last me till I go to bed |
So I had some computer problems earlier this year and I kind of lost the hard drive that had all my iTunes stuff on (apps/podcasts etc...)
I've been using my phone without iTunes and it's generally been fine. Now I want to go back to using iTunes on a PC. How do I get the things off my phone onto the PC so that when I sync from the PC it won't replace the way I've got it on my phone? Does that make sense? |
Quote:
Try that first. If you manage it, you should be ok. Besides that, when you put a CD in the PC and iTunes opens, it automatically asks if you want to copy all the music to your iTunes account anyway. Maybe someone else may be able to confirm, but I would suggest de-synching just in case, and then just plug it in and hope for the best. |
google "senuti for PC"
I have used senuti (itunes backwards) for MAC successfully to transfer my iPod Touch library to iTunes - I think there's a PC version too although I have no experience of using it. |
Just upgraded to an iPhone 5. My wife has inherited my old iPhone 4. How does she go about creating her own 'Apple ID'?
If I remove my ID from her phone, will it also remove it from my Macbook and new iPhone. Also, can she create her own Apple ID just with her phone or does she need to do it on a computer? (she hasn't got her own computer but uses mine). |
Create on computer or phone then just log in on device
|
Quote:
It won't change anything on your MacBook or other phone. I did this when my girlfriend inherited my old phone, it's really easy. |
Heb, thanks. I'm trying to create an Apple ID for her. I get through all the stages and when I click agree terms, it says that this domain (her email address) cannot be used with "mobile me" which I thought was now defunct?
I'll keep trying |
Might be easiest to set the phone up from new. She probably won't want all the apps you have anyway. Do a restore to factory settings, then set her up as a new user. You make an apple ID when you are setting up. Then go into settings, store, and change to your apple ID and password for the store. You can then (either through the phone or via your computer) download for free any apps that she wants that you've already bought.
|
It can get tricky having one iphone with 2 sets of apps as me and my partner did the same, main thing and easiest wa round it if you are going to do it is both have the same password as to update some will need password a and some will need password b
|
Quote:
I have three phones and two iPads set up with two iTunes accounts (both mine, but one UK and one US store). It's no problem really. You just make the passwords the same! |

All of these devices use my apple ID for the app store. |
Ah, I got the wrong end of the stick. I thought you meant you all shared Apple accounts
|
I purchased an iPhone 5 today with 2gb of data usage per month. For some reason when I'm connected to the Wi-Fi its taking it out of my data.. should it be doing this? I've tried tried turning off cellular but its still taking it out of my data for some reason, any ideas anyone?
Thanks. |
Whyphone!
|
No way should wifi use come off ur data allowance
|
Never mind, sorted the problem that was never there haha, cheers anyway!
|
Quote:

What are you on about, there is no such feature I am aware of
|
Maybe he means the cellular data setting? Though why the hell you'd only want your iphone to use WiFi I don't know. Defeats the point.
Purchases have a separate setting altogether. Default setting is download over WiFi, you have to turn cellular on if you want it. |
My iPhone has gone bat shit.
Data is loading so so slowly on 3G. I'm on O2. Anyone else having this problem? |

Loving the phone though, much much better compared to a Blackberry (i know i shouldn't even compare them)! Quote:

If you download something via WiFi and then it drops and you have these set to on then it will continue the download without warning and use your 3G/4G data. |
That's different, that settings pane just determines what apps use cellular data.
Maybe I am missing the point |
Quote:
I can use iTunes and download anything when I touch download but if I start the download on a wifi signal then get cut off it will stop because I don't want it to use the cellular data to carry it on. |
OP has cellular data turned off...

Turns out that when i changed over to my new iphone, the settings were wrong.
I had this personal hotspot thing on all the time. I apprently used "1.7gb" in one day on a sunday. Utter robbing bastards didnt even send me a text saying my data was over it's limit. Managed to get a refund, but it was painful. You all might want to double check. |
I have personal hotspot turned on all the time. Doesn't use data unless I connect something to it.
