Its a week later and I just realised that my shiny new iphone is still sitting on my desk unopened. A few years ago I would have ripped it open with all the delight of a child at Christmas. Now its Meh, doesn't do anything really different. I wonder if that buzz will ever come back or is it all bigger processor, better camera, brighter sceeen that no one REALLY notices.

Processing a maliciously crafted audio file may lead to arbitrary code execution Description: An out-of-bounds read was addressed with improved input validation. CVE-2020-27910: JunDong Xie and XingWei Lin of Ant Security Light-Year Lab No mention of battery life being impacted from what I can see... then again I'm sure they wouldn't admit to that. |
Updated to iOS 15 at the weekend.
Nothing obvious changed visually, but having to answer (or make choices) when opening many of the apps. All appear related to being invisible or visible to contacts... I think that is pretty dumbing down the request, but basically what it means I guess. To be honest I'm not sure what the correct answer is in my case... I just want to get the app open so have been selecting OK, but not sure what I'm agree to. My wife's iPad after updating had a few visual changes, which is a red flag to a bull for her. That and all these questions, has caused quite a bit of friction between us today... we are both frustrated with the changes and the questions we don't know the right answer to. Very annoying. |
Looking at upgrading my second generation iPhone SE.
Not sure whether to bother getting a 13 or just stick to a 12 mini, after all it would be an upgrade on what I have. Then again it’s not that much more for a 13, especially when you consider the storage size is double as a minimum. I guess the right side of me is thinking to just buy the 12 as it’s a few £ a month cheaper, but will I be throwing money away? Is the 13 much better? |

My mrs has the 12, I got a 13 a month ago. Other than the camera there's very little difference. Does the 12 come with the same amount of memory? If so, frankly, I'd probably go with the 12.

I think that it depends how long you intend to keep the phone as the newer model will have a better processor and possibly more RAM so should last you longer. If you tend to upgrade every couple of years then go for the 12, if you hang onto them for several years then I would go for the newer model. last year I went from the 6s plus which I used for six years to the iPhone 12.

I normally change after two years and sell my old phone, as I keep them in a good condition so there is some decent resell value.
Part of me thinks **** it and buy the best one, as I never get the latest phone when they come out, but then I am tight as arseholes! |
They always slooooooowww down as the OS gets more and more bloated. I would go with whichever has the fastest specs esp if it’s only a couple of quid extra will be worth it in the long run if you keep it or more £ if you sell it
|
Think I’ve narrowed it down to the standard iPhone 13 and the iPhone 13 mini.

Depends how urgent you need a new phone, but the Iphone SE 3 looks like it will be released around March/April next year.
Its what im holding out for at the moment at least (as long as it keeps touch id) :) |
