During the crack epidemic in New York in the 80's and early 90's, it was fairly common for grandparents in the most affected areas, to solely bring up the grand kids. The fathers in most cases were either missing or in jail. Mum was out shooting up in the local galleries; unable to care for her children.

Wooden window frames not taken care ofÖ FFS just a bit of care/bit of paint once a year and itís sortedÖ so many left to rot and then need expensive replacement. Madness.

When you move house and find the previous owners have tried to take care of the wooden window frames with a lick of paint but have been unable to not paint the glass as well which looks awful and sloppy.

Switching mortgage under the current situation. Makes me miss the innocence of childhood when I didn't have to think about these things.

**** interest.

The cost of everything annoys me.

We bought a place one time where the windows had been painted so many times that it was impossible to open the bastards.

We once used an absolute cowboy of a decorator to paint a downstairs bathroom just before Christmas. Made such a shit job I had to redo it myself afterwards, but out of many, many ****ups he made in a room of 5 ft x 3 ft, gloss painting the window shut so it couldn't reopen was probably one of the worst.

Waiting for a plumber to give us a quote to refurbish a bathroom - 6 weeks and it still hasn't appeared. He's now on holiday - quelle suprise.
Makes me wonder about how long the job might take.

Surely this is a huge red flag to not engage his services?

Over the years, Iíve come to the conclusion from bitter experiences that ALL plumbers are complete wankers

Seems to be a very thin line these days between a tradesman and a DIY-er you actually have to pay for. I think a lot of people emerged post-pandemic and said "yeah, no more office - I'm a pro decorator now - how hard can it be?"

ALWAYS.

I want to find the instigator every time and find the idea he has joyyed down on paper and stuff it down his throat.

How about one week they do a combined Palace/West Ham or Palace/Brighton one. Ya know, just for a change.

These would be 'journalists' are nothing more than man children.

I have been doing a lot of work on mine. A bt of prep with masking tape is all it takes. If you commit to a job, take your time and do it well.

All the warnings and teaching how to suck eggs advice and news reporters telling you to wear suncream and drink water because of one hot day. Get a grip, it's summer
