I can't stand the England band either. I used to quite like watching the England women's team play on the BBC, until - you guessed it - the ******* official England band started turning up.

I really feel affronted that shops are already playing Christmas music. It just feels so wrong and yesterday whilst looking at clothes I actually wanted to go and complain to someone working in the store...which of course I didn't...which in itself annoyed me because I probably didn't want to come across as the kind of petty, anal person who would get annoyed by such a trivial thing as a particular tune being played while I'm shopping.

The whole Christmas thing is feckin madness.

It might not be so bad if they weren't all so horribly twee.

(Well OK yes it would)

The use of average as a negative, or to mean not good enough

I thought it was only negative if you put “bang” in front of it? I used to have a Standard 8 car - when they were being made in the 50s standard meant high quality, now put “bog” in front of it and it means rubbish. Mind you not sure superb has quite the same meaning it once had now it s used for a Skoda!

I think you’ll find it’s in the dictionary as an adjective, meaning amongst other things, ‘not very good’.

Surely it also means "not very bad"? In fact, "average".

The piece of fluff attached to the pert bottom of the woman in front of me on the up escalator in Victoria station.

You should have done a Sepp Blatter and brushed it off.

People who come into work when they're ill and then moan about said illness. Either stay at home or shut up.
