Only once had a iPod many moons ago and do not want to jump ship to Apple. I already have enough toys Microsoft and Android based. However I was playing around with a mate's 13 the other day and I'm tempted to the dark side for the first time.

I'm in the market for a new phone and the S22 was in my sights but I'm trying to be open minded.

They operate totally independent of the Apple ecosystem. Everything the Phone needs is done on the phone.

HTH.

Am I missing something, or did the iPhone not used to have an option to send an incoming phone call to voicemail?

I see you can set a toggle to send all incoming calls from numbers that are not in your contacts to voicemail, but that seems a bit drastic.

I would agree it is better than nothing, but seems a bit limiting and forces you to pretty much make a contact for everyone you give your number to if you want to get a call from them. Or just let them leave you a message and then add them as a contact if it is worth it to you.

Go to Settings > Do Not Disturb > Allow Calls From
Select Everyone, No One, or Favorites; alternatively, select a group.

Select everyone, then your phone won’t ring when a call comes in and when you don’t answer the call will go to voicemail.

Thanks, that is pretty much how I have set it up now. All numbers not in my contacts go straight to voicemail.

It was just that I seem to recall there was an option to do this when you got the call (sent to message). Now the only options you have is Accept or Reject.

Progress I guess...

Can I just say that so far I am loving the "Send numbers not in your contacts straight to voicemail" feature I mentioned above, and switched on at that time.

So far I've had about 6 or 7 calls that didn't even ring on the phone and only one so far has left an automated voicemail.

Now just got to figure out how to stop my Fitbit from vibrating when I get these spam calls. I got one at 6:45 this morning which triggered my Fitbit to vibrate, but the phone didn't ring.

Anyone else got or had this problem?
When I am called on the Cellular service I answer and can hear them
But they can’t hear me. If I call back it works fine. If I am called via face time or what’s app etc it works fine. I was told to switch off my blutooth, which fixed the problem but now I’m buggered for my hands free, tile, tracker etc etc any ideas google hasn’t helped

When my dad makes or receives calls all he can hear and the other person is a horrible muffled sound making the call pointless. It’s not the sound on the phone as text tone / what’s app calls work etc. new SIM card didn’t fix the problem.

Is this likely to be an issue with the provider?

Your saying the sound from the same speaker is fine when making calls over Whatsapp, but not when using the mobile network?

Could it be an antenna issue with the phone? I remember when the iPhone 4 first came out, there were issues with the antenna, which was embedded in the stainless steel bezel. Essentially, when you touched it in certain places, the mobile signal dropped out.

Yeah that's what I'm saying. But WiFi calling on the ''phone'' app doesn't work either. It must be a Sky Mobile issue...

I updated phone to iOS 16 yesterday... Why do they have to **** with everything.

A minor annoyance is the font on the lock screen clock has been made bigger. I understand you can customize the screen and use different fonts for the clock, but the size remains the same.

Reading articles on the web, I'm not alone in not liking this, and it also confirms there if no option to return it to what it was other than going back to iOS 15, which seem stupid.

I keep finding other little annoyances also. All chicken shit stuff, so why?

I wish I hadn't, but I guess you have to eventually one way or another, so just get it over with and live with the changes.

Golf Boy 19-11-2022 05:47 PM

And just when you get used to them……

I think there’s some great stuff in ios16. Being able to delete and edit messages - and I think emails - after you’ve sent them is a major improvement. Plenty of other nice improvements across the board as well, I like it.

The size of the Lock Screen clock is I agree utterly hateful. Changing it to a thinner font certainly helps although that doesn’t help with iPads where it’s even more obtrusive but you can’t edit it.

Who the **** signed that off in Apple?

I would agree with all of that.

I just tried out the deleting of a sent message and it came back and said it only works if the person you sent the message to has updated their software (I assume to 16). I think it said something like the person may still be able to see the message on their device if they hadn't.

A week in, and I continue to come across chicken shit changes.

And all with no option to revert to how it was.

Latest discovery is watching a video you used to be able to jump forward of back 15 seconds with the controls along the bottom of the screen. Now it is +/- 10 seconds and the controls are slap bang in the middle of the screen.

El Aguila 22-11-2022 05:58 PM

That certainly does sound like gosh darn cockamammy chicken shit change, old top.

Hedgehog 26-11-2022 10:08 PM

Went to do a FaceTime today, and the format and layout has all changed.

Not sure if this is down to iOS 16 update or not, but I didn’t like it.

More change for change sake.
