There are a few if you search the App store. I'm downloading a couple right now so I'll let you know what there like when I've had a play. Although, TBH, I can't imagine ever having a practical need to see my friends list unless I'm actually playing the xbox. Something fun to play with for a short while I guess.

Just installed Cycorder which works great, giving your iphone a video camera facility. I'm not yet sure if you can lift these videos off the iphone and watch them elsewhere as I'm not connected to itunes.

Also installed Backgrounder which seems to work perfectly, allowing you to run apps in the background. I'm finding this particularly useful with Internet radio stations etc.

I've jsut got my bill for my iphone usage for the month! £69! surely this is a mistake. I've hardly made any calls. Could it be that I'm being charged for internet usage?? I will be calling to confirm, but what the hell is going on?

PalaceMonkey 18-02-2009 01:23 PM

you on a proper iPhone contract?
or did you just put another sim in the phone from an existing contract?

EagleSE24 18-02-2009 01:26 PM

Proper iphone contract. Or so I was assured!

Kevin T 18-02-2009 01:28 PM

on 02?

EagleSE24 18-02-2009 01:35 PM

yep

Syph1979 18-02-2009 01:45 PM

This happened to me. I got billed for the first days of internet usuage before my account was recognised as unlimited. I called and complained and the billed amount was deducted from the next bill. Bummer, but sortable.

Kevin T 18-02-2009 01:48 PM

Hopefully this won't happen to me. My contract swapped over a couple of days before my iPhone arrived. I know this, becuase my voicemail delivery changed and I had to set a new greeting.

EagleSE24 18-02-2009 01:52 PM

Got some spiel about swapping contracts in the middle of a billable month. considering my old contract was only £25pcm I'm faily convinced the same thing has happened to me as Syph1979 so will be trying to get a discount next month.

Probably a partial month and then the next month also?

Check out Snapture also - it's cool

It will be for a partial month and a full month, nothing to do with old contract prices.

"A new report compiled by iPhone analytics firm Pinch Media finds the majority of people stop using apps the day after they download them, and only 1 percent develop a long-term relationship with any given app. Instead, most tend to lose interest after a few minutes, according to this article. Paid apps fare slightly better. 30% of the people downloading a paid app return the next day compared to 20% who download a free app. No surprises that the survey found that apps that focused on games and entertainment seem to outlast other categories when it comes to long-term love."
so true

Kevin T 22-02-2009 01:47 PM

I guess it depends on the app. Some apps are truly useful so will get used. I was just checking the TV Listings using the TV Plus app because, quite frankly it's easier than getting off my arse to find the Sky Remote.

I also play Virtual Pool whenever I have time to kill - especially if I don't have a decent Internet Connection. I also use Facebook, Twitterific and Fring on a daily basis.

Kevin T 22-02-2009 01:48 PM

And in contrast to the report, it's the games and entertainment downloads that I don't bother going back to.

Dave 22-02-2009 01:53 PM

I am struggling to think of any app I use daily other than twitterific and last.fm

patch 22-02-2009 03:00 PM

The only app I use regularly is tictac basic but good :)
