Neil the Eagle 09-10-2006 11:21 AM

No, it's available via e-mail from me, Stu and yes the Perry sticker is on it, although possibly not on very early versions of the list.

Wa-hey! Just scored this off ebay for a tenner - very pleased with myself.

Little things please little minds...

Well done Neil. I don't collect them, but can certainly understand your excitement getting that particular card.

Any chance of seeing a scan when you receive it?

Dorking .Eagle 19-10-2006 08:31 AM

Jeez Neil
You must have been alert to spot that, a real real rarity.
Treasure it, few Palace fans will have anything original in their collection relating to CPFC that is older. (considering we were only formed a year earlier!)

Dorking .Eagle 20-10-2006 08:20 AM

Arrrggghhh!

See today's Croydon Ad, Neil - a complete set of 15 "1908" CPFC Taddys is going up for Auction in London!

I have 14 of them, so it would be daft to bid £200+ for them, just to get the one I need ("Needham" ironically)

Someone must have spent ages building up that set!

I reckon someone could get it and sell the others on ebay, it'd be tempted if I could raise that sort of cash in the first place.

I know you are not offering anything for sale on the BBS (heaven forbid)
but I have a swap of Woodger from the 1908 Taddy series, and would be very keen to swap it for Needham if you ever wish to consider it (it's the only one I need to complete the 15)

(and make a generous cash adjustment for your trouble)

rare palace card - NEEDHAM - has appeared on ebay

one of the rarest palace trading cards have been spotted on ebay.

NEEDHAM

at the moment, one of our beloved bbs members is the highest bidder, but that could change in the next few days:rolleyes: (as i need a spare one)

happy bidding all...

link--needham card

a message to any mods(neiltheeagle),as i'm not the person selling the card, all i'm doing is letting others out there know about this rare palace item,

Neil the Eagle 21-01-2007 12:35 PM

Although I put a bid in, realistically, I know I have absolutely no hope of getting the card.

I don't think I've won an auction for a Palace card that I really wanted on ebay in over a year. Bids have been going crazy, I got seriously stung for one item whilst bidding drunk and my lesson has been learnt.

Now I'm even losing out on small recent card collections, I've been bidding on simply to top up my trading 'stock'.

Very disillusioned with the whole thing at the moment, I'm finding greater reward in doing deals with other collectors at the moment.

Got it!

Have to say, John, seeing as I only said on the previous page that Needham was the one card I need to complete my set, I don't quite understand why you would flag it up to all the Palace card collectors via this forum, especially as you say you wanted it yourself as a swap

Still whatever the motive, completed the set now, so you have one less collector to compete with next time a card from this series appears

it's great to hear from other card collectors( like myself) when rare cards appear on ebay....but...the downside of things.it push's the price up :bash: ,
think in future,i'll keep quiet;)

Neil the Eagle 28-01-2007 10:27 PM

Well done, Dorking.

It all worked out in the end. My own Taddy collection is now one better off as a result of this too. You, sir, are a gentleman and a scholar.

Very good price, considering what you thought you might end up paying. Bet the missus is happy/relieved too!

Neil the Eagle 28-01-2007 10:32 PM

It's fantastic to know that a complete set of Taddy 1908's exists in the hands of one Palace collector.

I know various people have a few of the extremely rare 1913 palace Taddy's, but don't know of anyone with a complete set. Would be good to try and get as many of these scanned as poss.

Dorking .Eagle 29-01-2007 08:25 AM

1913 taddys - extremely rare!

Neil the Eagle 29-01-2007 10:10 AM

Indeed. From speaking to other collectors, I've still yet to come across anyone who has a specimen of the following: Collyer (1913), Davies, Hanger, Hughes, Hunt, Rhodes, Spottiswood.

And I've yet to ask whether the collectors who do possess the others if they would agree to have them scanned.

Dorking .Eagle 29-01-2007 04:52 PM

I've got Hewitt and an appalling specimen of Bright. I reckon some child played all sorts of playground games with it during WW1

BBD scanned most of my early ones onto the eagles100 website

Never seen that one before John

(and it wasn't me - I never even saw it!)

Neil the Eagle 03-02-2007 11:08 AM

Legible aren't true cards as such, though. They are the photo pages pulled out from the annual publication of the time called Soccer Diary.

I've amassed quite a few of these down the years. There are quite nice, but wouldn't pay too much for them. One of these days, I'm going to reorganise the spreadsheet into categories which better reflect this.

There's a Johnny Byrne one on there now.

Dorking .Eagle 04-03-2007 09:48 AM

New card series either out now or coming very soon

(full page advert in Burnley programme)

Panini 2007 Championship Trading Card game

288 in series, therefore 12 for each of the 24 Championship clubs

(there's also 4 checklists)

collectors binder also available

endorsed by the Coca Cola FLC

with any luck some enterprising person will buy boxes of these cards, put together complete team sets and flog them en ebay, without me having to buy a single packet to get every Palace card.

Takes the romance out of collecting them the traditional way, but I've got no desire to buy packet after packet of Southend or Barnsley players

grumble time , their are 288 players cards , 4 checklist cards and a how to play card . only spaces for 288 cards in the folder !!!!!!

Neil the Eagle 05-03-2007 01:48 PM

Back briefly to Taddy.

Just shows you my e-bay luck at the moment. Bidding on two cards, one I needed and one I thought might come in handy for a swop. Bid very high on the one I needed, didn't get near it. Bid under the 'market' value for the 'swop' and won it.

The search goes on... and at least I have another swop in the 'armoury' now.

Dorking .Eagle 05-03-2007 01:58 PM

John1509 needs a 1908 Taddy's "Woodger". good luck in getting a swap though.

I offered him a Woodger for his Needham a while back but he wasn't looking to part with his Needham.

I think it's a good idea to have some spares, you never know when they will come in handy

Fair play John, if you ever come across a swop of Needham and/or Lewis, then I'm your man. I have two that you need.

I never did bother touching the World Cup stuff. I'm guessing Popovic featured in a few different series - anyone got the details to hand?

Neil the Eagle 05-03-2007 06:15 PM

Panini & Merlin were the only UK ones that Poppa featured in. He featured prominently in several oz collections I'm led to believe, inclusing a set of playing cards.

Dorking .Eagle 05-03-2007 07:38 PM

thanks
I've not subscribed to David Schollicks catalogues for a few issues, and will probably wait till I've got a few new card/sticker issues to catch up with
I got fed up with it when there were loads of modern "1950's" palace cards coming out almost monthly

He is in the Shoot Out set from our recent season in the Premiership.

Is that Merlin/Pannini?
Also, to anyone in the know, how much do people pay for this sort of thing?

Neil the Eagle 06-03-2007 11:33 PM

Neither. Magic Box, a Spanish company, if I remember rightly. You could pick up that card for around 10p from a dealer, so you won't make a fortune on it.

I think DE was asking about World Cup issues featuring Poppa, the numbers are 349: Merlin's England 2006 collection, and 422 for Panini 2006 World Cup, btw.

Neil the Eagle 06-03-2007 11:36 PM

Panini Championship Trading card game

It's Real Football for Real Fans, so if you support a Championship team, you'll be pleased to hear that Panini are launching a brand new trading card game, in support of the 24 clubs that have 'Everything To Play For'.

With Panini's first ever Championship trading card game, you can collect, swap and win your favourite player cards. There are 12 high profile players from each of the 24 clubs featured within the collection, including one goalkeeper, four defenders, four midfielders and three forwards.

Each trading card contains statistical information, as well as player ratings and scores, so as your collection grows you can pick your own dream team and formation like a real manager and play the cards against your friends.

In total, there are 288 full action cards in the collection, four checklist cards and a game rules card. There's also a binder, with 16 special plastic sleeves to store and protect your cards. The binder can also be used to enhance game play by using the playing field game board on cover section.

The collection was launched at the start of this month, with binders priced at £2.99 and trading card packets (containing six trading cards each) at 35p.

So, keep a lookout for them and get your trading hat on for the Championship cards!

A heads-up to all Palace Card collectors.

The Palace Echo card collection series 2 is being given away free with the next Echo due on 14th April. 12 cards this time: 4x3 sets. Either set 1 or 2 will be included in with the next Palace Echo, you can order the one you don't get, but only existing subscribers will get the limited edition set 3.

So pretty much the only way to get the rare 'set 3' is to pre-order issue 78 via the website.

JOHN1509 01-04-2007 04:26 AM

must pull my finger out and the collection series 1

Neil the Eagle 01-04-2007 02:44 PM

Yes congrats, Dave, nice looking card... even though you didn't think either of us would win it ;)

I fear my own 'price limit' for Taddys is too well known now, but that's all I can afford at the moment, so I'm a bit buggered really.

1908 R J Roberts has just made an appearance btw John... at a low starting price. Someone might just get a bargain here, as most of the collectors I know have this card.

Neil the Eagle 01-04-2007 02:47 PM

I'm hoping to get scans of 13 out 16 of the 1913 Taddy's, for the database, through soon.

i'll keep an eye on that one:)

To be fair to John though mate, the game was up as far as your username is concerned, after the Needham episode.

Dorking .Eagle 02-04-2007 02:34 PM

Fair do's - was a bit tongue in cheek to be honest - mine's hardly a cryptic username!

It just feels a bit like everyone's "looking into the contents of my shopping trolley" sometimes, when I get people talk to me about how much I bought a Palace badge or fag card for!

it didn't take a degree in rocket science to work out it was you:) i'm sure anyone who post's on memory lane had already know before hand,

i'm sure fellow bbs members wouldn't bid against you just to make you pay more for palace card's etc,

re-BTW, congrats on buying four fifty pence pieces for £2.49.

two of these 50p's were the soldier issues from last year, which will go up in price ,as these are only issued for 12 months.

last year,i sold a 50p from a couple years back for a large profit:p

i'm surprised you didn't out bid me on the 1969 palace team group card from holland

Dorking .Eagle 02-04-2007 04:06 PM

I agree, I'm sure nobody would bid against me just to make me pay more for palace cards etc.

I just think it a little OTT to start discussing what someone else has bought on ebay and how much they paid for it, especially when I never brought up about that particular card in the first place.

My comment on your 50p collection was merely to illustrate the point (each to their own) - what you buy on ebay and how much you spend is your business and surely not for anyone else to comment on.

I couldn't really be bothered getting into a bidding war for the team group card from Holland - I entered the maximum I was prepared to pay, and was outbid - I'm not too fussed about it to be honest - I'm sure there are plenty of other gaps in my "modern cards" collection, and I'm in no great rush to fill them.

Well done in getting it though:p :p :p

I didn't comment about the card when the bidding was still open,as i know i slipped up last time talking about it:bash:

I can do you a good deal on comic relief red noses:D

stupalace 02-04-2007 08:13 PM

its very easy to have multiple ebay accounts

Dorking .Eagle 02-04-2007 10:36 PM

no worries John, sorry if I was getting a bit touchy. Been getting it in the neck recently from the other half about the extent my tat-collecting what with the wedding looming large.

not your fault for trying to be friendly, just keep getting people want to discuss what I've bought recently, which makes me wonder why people are really that interested in what other people are up to. All a bit too wierd for me really. I can barely keep up with the auctions I'm interested in, let alone other people's

is there a market for old red noses??? (mind you with ebay, I reckon you can find someone who collects just about anything!)
