There's complete sets of Panini Championship cards on ebay if you don't want to order from Panini online.
Also the 1st Palace echo card set on there too, should it interest Palace card collectors;) |

At least you're the one who's taken the initiative and has put them on there - good for you I say - it must be annoying to see other people selling bundles of 2nd hand fanzine back-issues when you've probably got piles of them in your loft!
|
I don't ever begrudge people selling bundles of fanzines. I'd do it myself if they ever went for a decent price, because as you say I have quite a few tucked away here, but more often than not they remain unsold.
That said, I am planning to have a massive ebay clearout of old Palace (and Dr Who) memorabilia over the summer which will include big bundles of cards, not just the Echo ones... just another job I will have time for without the Echo to worry about. |
Neil, any chance yo could do a list nearer the time and send it to me of what you have and we could arrange a price ?
|
The list of cards for sale/swop is no problem, indeed, I've got a feeling you've seen it before.
The list of programmes would take far too long. Once I've extracted what I need from the piles lying around at my mother's house I'm just going to bundle 'em up in season lots and flog 'em (they cover mainly 1988 onwards, although there are a few older/rarer ones which I will list separately) ... but feel free to let me know if you have any specific programme wants. I'm not selling any shirts at this time, but might list some leisurewear (but no I don't have a 98/99 bench coat ;) ) |

new steve kember card on ebay
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PART-2-OF-FOOT...QQcmdZViewItem |
That's been about for quite a while now, wrong kit an' all!
|
a bit of money for just getting that one card
|
I would have thought that the specialist catalogues like David Schollicks' (can't remember the other ones - stopped getting them sent as it was a waste when I only ever ordered about 1 card per catalogue) will sell them individually at a pound a card or something like that, so that you can get just the one that you want
|
Just had an interesting email from Panini
They've launched a new product range called "MyPanini" You can basically create your own sticker collection! If you want just one sticker album with 10 unique stickers, and a personalised cover, it is £23.03 If you are more confident you can sell sets of stickers, they can do the following :- 20 sticker albums, each with 25 different stickers = £9.49 an album 90 sticker albums, each with 75 different stickers = £12.73 an album I would have thought only the very first item an option, ie make your own sticker album of 10 stickers, but it's an interesting development in sticker collecting - if you have a very niche subject (ie CPFC) you no longer have to wait for a set to come out - you can have your own made up! |
yeah, but why aint palace looking at this . a 400 - 500 sticker collection , some stickers free with certain match programmes . 30p a packet of 6 atickers from the club shop. others free with certain things , its a marketing managers dream . also means palace wont be doing anything

Interesting info, Dave. Thanks. I might well have a look at this for next year's Echo cards. |

Looks like my ebay luck is turning...
Last week I won a pre-WWII card that I didn't even know existed - Crescent confectionary - W.A.Morgan. This week, thanks to a tip off for which I am supremely grateful, I scored the rare 1908 Taddy Needham card (see earlier posts), which had been obscurely listed. Four more to go... :lux: |
Glad you got it Neil, and what a bargain price! It was the one that eluded my set for over 10 years, so to have it appear on ebay again within a year is quite strange (but good)
Scored a rare one myself a couple of weeks ago, which I never knew existed... LTA ROBINSON - Football Stars of Today and Tomorrow. Not sure of year of issue, but the fact it features Ronnie Rooke and the biography on the back narrows it down.. http://i5.ebayimg.com/03/i/000/ae/76/0813_2.JPG |
I feel really guilty about the price, mate, given what you ended up paying for yours only a few months back...
That Rooke is a nice one, too. I ended up getting two as one was very badly listed on ebay without picture - I didn't connect it and thought I was getting the Chix card instead. |
Don't feel bad at all - it was worth the extra because it was the final one I needed, and so increases the value of the other 14 by more than just the value of 1 card.

Good work fella!
Now the fun bit, getting them framed (3 rows of 5 works best) so you can enjoy them properly as a complete set |
Hope I've not annoyed anyone but just got a rare 1913/14 Taddy today - Harry Hanger. Paid above 'catalogue price' at £46 but got a Chelsea card with it, which if I get a few quid for will mean the Palace card is a good aquisition.

Have to say, the great thing about collecting Place cards is that you can give it up for a bit, then come back to it. It doesn't take up too much space, and you can spend as little time on it as you want to.
Hope Panini do a Championship cards series again this season, but I do wonder if the last series was unprofitable - it came out so late, I can't believe they sold enough. |

Just had what some might call a bit of a result. (Others will just wince and jeer 'saddo')
It's taken nearly a month to complete and get it in my grubby mitts, but now I have I thought I'd share it. On ebay about a month ago there was an auction of 8 cigarette cards. Taddy's. 1913/14 Taddy's Prominent Footballers to be precise. It is unusual for cards from this series to surface in more than 1's and 2's so an auction lot of 8 was nost unusual. Especially as they go for about £40 from dealers catalogues (not that dealers often have any to sell) One of the 8 cards was a Palace Player - J Johnson. Great stuff - well worth a bid. Just have to hope no-one else sees the item, and I could get a bargain if I time it right. Trouble was 7 of the 8 cards were Man United players:( Chances of 'no-one' noticing the lot were slim to nothing, and in no time the lot had exceeded the value of the one Palace card. In the last 10 seconds, loads of bids went in, probably snipes, and the 8 cards went for the best part of £400. However I then thought, what's the chances of the winning bidder being interested in the Palace card? I looked at their bid history and it was Busby Babes this and that and so on. So I contacted him, and sure enough, he was willing to sell me the Palace card for a Bullseye* And sure enough after a few weeks of me wondering if I'd been taken for a ride, the card arrived today! Result! The Card in question is in the bottom right of the scan, and some of you may even realise this is the chap whom there was a couple of articles on a couple of years ago in Palace Echo, when a load of memorabilia relating to him went on auction. Was it worth it? Well I doubt another will surface for a while, and he is in "A Complete Record" as one of our all time greatest players, so maybe in time. http://i8.ebayimg.com/02/i/000/d5/d8/40a1_1.JPG * (By not referring to the actual amount in words but in slang it hurts less) |
in the soccer stars 83-84 album , sticker number 297 for brighton has Neil Smillie wearing a palace shirt from 78 season admiral white home shirt .
http://www.cpfc.org/g2/v/NeilSmillieTradingCard/ someone has also put this in the gallery |
Stu, look closely at the background of the Paul Barron picture in the same collection if you have it, it looks very much like Selhurst to me and not at all like the other WBA team pix.
|
sorry only got a hand full of stickers in the album , hes not one of them
|
Has anyone seen a Panini Championship album for 2009 ?
|
Not yet Stu.
|
hmm , not looking good .
Dont think merlin released the usual ' kick off ' collection this year , they will probably do the big album . Wonder if panini have given up on the idea |

I have seen some Championship stickers for 2009 on ebay.

as above they gone for a sticker album this time some what of a dissapointment the stickers numbers are as follows 179- badge 180- stadium 181- star player julian speroni 182 kits 183 star player victor moses 184 star player nick carle 185 star player ben watson 186/187 shaun derry captain and then these all half the size of the rest of the stickers 188 julian speroni 189 matt kawrence 190 clint hill 191 shaun derry 192 paddy mccarthy 193 jose fonte 194 james scowcroft 195 alan lee 196 nick carle 197 victor moses 198 sean scannell 199 danny butterfield 200 ben watson now the confusing bit for collectors without an album , if you want to send off for the palace only stickers you will have to order the following numbers as the small stickers come as a pair, 188 julian speroni 189 matt kawrence 190 clint hill 191 shaun derry 192 paddy mccarthy 193 jose fonte 194 james scowcroft 195 alan lee 196 nick carle you need to order 174 aron gunnarson 197 victor moses you need to order 170 guillama beuzelin 198 sean scannell you need to order 166 keiren westwood 199 danny buterfield you need to order 152 luke varney 200 ben watson you need to order 147 jonjo shelvey |
It's a pretty confusing numbering system - one wonders why panini couldn't just issue the half sized player stickers in same-club pairs?
One result though - not sure if it's done randomly, but my album already came with 6 stickers, and 3 of them were Palace - the large sized ones of Watson, Speroni and Carle! |
lol mine didnt . I should have gone through the albums in the shop ( already got 2 boxes on order ) so if anyone wants to swap etc etc .
|
give it a few weeks, i'll get the palace stickers straight from the panini web-site,
I gave up many a year ago filling the books |
you could complete the whole album online if you wanted , use different email addresses . ive done it before lol paid with the same credit card and sent to same address
|
just waiting for the stickers to online, as of this afternoon, not yet
|
it will be a while i think
|
i'm in no hurry
|
did you manage to get hold of a ben watson photo from this season from the club ?

Finally got round to ordering all the new Palace Panini ones. When they came, one was missing, but was able to go back to the online order, tick the one that was missing and it was sent about a week later, no quibble at all.
Onto my favourite set - Taddy's, anyone notice a rare 1913 Palace Taddy card appear on ebay recently? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TEN-TADDY-PROM...1%7C240%3A1318 Unfortunately the card was the only Palace one in a lot of 10 cards and went for nearly £250. Didn't get a sniff what with the house move and baby D.E. on the way. Although that is actually a very good price per card for that set, especially as it included 4 Chelsea players. The seller was just selling what he'd inherited - shame he didn't spilt up the lot and sell them in smaller quantities - I reckon overall he'd have come away with a bigger overall return Well done if anyone on here got it. |
I was away when this went on, can you remember which card was it, Dave?
|
Hi Neil,
I think from memory it was Whibley but I could be wrong. I think I had a sensible snipe set up but it didn't even make dent. If it had been a better time for me, I might have paid that for all 10, then taken my chances that I'd have got a good price reselling the other 9. In the end I moved house on 3rd April but it was absolute chaos for a couple of weeks before and after trying to get everything packed and unpacked - as you can imaging, I've got a lot of 'stuff'! To be honest at the moment I'm busier and have less spare time than during the season what with all the DIY and general jobs around the house trying to get everything in a live-able and decent condition ready for the baby. Tonight was grouting kitchen tiles for a couple of hours! And work seems to be getting more and more at the moment what with trying to keep in a job. Anyway, moaning aside, I've got a lovely set of shelves now for my Palace books, cards and badge folders, so there is a good side to it! Looking forward to another quiet mid-table season to be honest, where I won't be too upset that I can't get to all the games by quite some distance! As long as we don't 'do a Charlton', I don't really mind! Should be another Panini set next season I'd say, especially with the added BBC coverage of the Champo! |
Hopefully so.
I've had an up and down few months on the card front. The highpoint was undoubtably scoring a couple of 1913 Taddy's (Smith & Whibley) in excellent condition. My first two of this series after several near misses :) Sadly, although I have an option to buy four more from the same source, these are well out of my price range. :( Tried to sell a couple of 1908 Taddy's to help pay for the 1913 cards I acquired. One didn't sell at all and the other went for £9.99. The bottom seems to have fallen out of the 1908 Taddy market on ebay and in dealer catalogues - I've seen some listed for as low as £20. Oh well. :( On the bright side, I've just been given, by a very generous occassional BBS'r, a job lot of swops of cards from down the ages - whilst I didn't need any myself it's nice to have additional trading armoury. :) So if anyone has any card 'wants' let me know and I'll have a trawl thorugh and see if I can help. |

I had the 69-70 season sticker set (can't remember who produced it) I sold it to a mate in about 1974 to buy "Yessongs"............ what was I thinking ??
:sob: |
There were two 'big' sets that season: issued by AB&C Bubblegum and FKS respectively. Both are still very common, so you could replace them quite easily and cheaply.
PM me for further details, if you are interested. |

Up at the Scunny club shop they were selling the brand new "Panini Championship 2010" Sticker album and stickers Didn't get any, but will prob order all the Palace ones online when that opens. If anyone does start colecting these, please can they post up all the Palace sticker numbers - ta |
Got my Championship sticker album
Good news is that whilst most player stickers are 'half size' ie 2 to a sticker, they haven't put two different teams players on a sticker The relevant numbers are as follows 78 Crest 79 Home Kit 80 Away kit 81a Speroni/Clyne 82a Clint Hill/McCarthy 83a Fonte/Butterfield 84a Derry/Ambrose 85 Speroni 86 Ambrose 87 Moses 88 Sears 89a Danns/Carle 90a Moses/N'Diaye 91a John/Scannell 92a Sears/Lee 98 John You can order them already at panini.co.uk |
Crumbs it's quiet on this thread!
Filled a rare gap in my ciggie card collection today via ebay http://i.ebayimg.com/08/!BolMr6g!2k~...8Q3nQ~~_12.JPG Pattreiouex Famous Footballers 1922 Have had "Pattreiouex Palace" on my ebay watch list for a few years now, and finally it appeared! The Palace player in question is Palace and England goalie Jack Alderson Suprisingly the only two bidders were Palace card collectors, I say suprising because the card is a picture from Palace v Man Utd game so I had thought their collectors might have been after it |

An occasional bump for one of my favourite threads, primarily to show off my latest additions. They are from J A Pattroueix/Casket Cigarettes series.
Big up to my partner-in-crime on this thread, DorkingEagle, who alerted me to the F173 on ebay, which I secured for £27 - you will see he got the same card himself back in March last year. Further enquiries with the seller eventually directed me to a very battered copy of F167, which I managed to get for a similar price. It actually features Man Utd players, but is of interest to Palace collectors as its taken at the same match as F173 and has a Palace player (I'm thinking George Whitworth) clearly in shot. |
Hi Neil (don't think anyone else reads this thread!)
Thanks for the bump! Glad you got F173, I haven't got a clue if £27 is a bargain or not to be honest because it's years and years since I last bought a Murrays Catalogue (THE standard price guide reference book for cards) Looking at the book "Half Time (Football and the Cigarette Card 1890-1940)", F167 and F173 are the only two Palace cards in that series (191 in the numbered series) F167 is listed as "Manchester United v Crystal Palace", and F173 is listed as Alderson (C.Palace) & Spence (Man Utd) I've never seen F167 before, so well done there. Nice to see it (I'm printing off your scan and sticking that in my album until I get it one day!) It's hard to keep an eye on the ball cards-wise when there aren't many left to collect - the ones that really have frustrated me more than any are a Casket team card F228 - again by Patreiouex and from 1922 - it came up on ebay years ago and went for close to a hundred quid I seem to remember. Oh and a colour postcard of the Nest, less than a year ago - over £300 - outbid by a foreign football grounds postcard collector - I could have bid a grand and I still reckon he'd have outbid me on it looking at his ebay bid history! |
Quote:
It really is a tatty card - those snaps were from my webcam - I'll do you a proper scan when I next brave the cold office and post front and back here and you'll see how bad it really is. Probably paid slightly over the odds, given it's condition, but hey. The Pattreouix Team photo was up in in the last Dealers catalogue I received back in the summer with a price of £45, sadly I wasn't quick enough off the mark to grab it. My budget was £30 for the card, which I have listed as Dealer Price, although as no examples have come up in cats. I get it's difficult to know, all I know is that I was relieved when the inevitable snipe bid hit just under my limit! |
Quote:
It's fairly common example, Archie - it's not going to make anyone rich, but it's a nice card, all the same. Was given away with a Comic of the era... |
Here's the scans:
http://picasaweb.google.com/neilthee...eat=directlink You can see just how tatty it is here... |
Thanks for that Neil. Yes it's really tatty, but until a better condition example comes along, it's good to have in your collection
|
Indeed - 'Til the next find or Panini Sticker book...
|
Ta!
|
It's that time again.....
The new Panini sticker book is out in WH Smiths - "NPower Championship Official Sticker Collection 2011" Palace numbers as follows:- 78 Badge 79 Kit 80 Team 81a Speroni/Clyne 82a Wright/Davis 83a McCarthy/Barrett 84a Hills/Ambrose 85a Danns/Garvan 86a Dorman/Cadogan 87 Danns 88 Speroni 89a N'Diaye/Scannell 90a Zaha/Dijali 91 and 92 McCarthy (large) 98 Garvan no sticker for managers, which saved them doing one for Burley |
There's lovely...
