I wonder if his points per game record would have kept us up?

Conscious there was an impact effect - winning the 1st 2 games.

Palace v. the wankers today at Selhurst Park.

Good watch although we lost 0-2.

What year was that, then?

Cheers. Don't remember much about that game without watching it but I think we were just getting a bit tired towards the end of that season, weren't we?

AddoWolz 11-10-2021 10:34 PM

I think there’s a bit of confusion , 1st November 1980 v Man Utd we won the game 1-0 with the goal scored by Peter Nicholas

They're showing the match from 29 March 1980 tomorrow which we lost 2-0.

Indeed.

The season we were half decent, we lost 2-0.
The following season when we were absolute shite, we beat them 1-0.

Go figure :p

Palace all over, it’s how we roll

One thing which I think would be bloody marvellous would be if for some of the games the electronic advertising boards could be used to display all the old adverts around the ground in a sort of 30 second flash..... it would be great to see the likes of Marley homecare, Allders, Visionhire, Tarmac, Everard Ovens etc splashed around the ground.

Loved Brian Moore growing up. Watching the big match revisited I lost count of the times I heard him say "Oh my word what a goal save shot" etc."
Brings back some good memories watching our matches especially the Forest game when we won 1-0. Shame there is no footage of the 4-1 Ipswich game that took us to the top of the division.

Some big old punch ups on the terraces at those games.

How times have changed, Brian Moore disgusted at John Burridge getting booked for deliberately handling the ball outside the penalty area. A crazy decision he said, what is he supposed to do? Well these days it’s a straight red, no questions asked with no complaints from anyone. What would Brian have thought of that?? Because he kept going on about the yellow card ‘crazy decision’ during and after the game

A high proportion of the yellow cards 40 years ago would be red today

True, I think it was just Brian Moore’s disgust that I found amusing.

You forgot to mention that Brian also pointed out that the same thing happened in another match and the goalie wasn't booked.

Perhaps we need a thread to note all the differences between matches played over 40 years apart. First on my list would be passing back to the keeper ....

What a marvellous thread. How quaint to read of your concern about the disappearance of knickers :D
