Need clarification on instant messaging

Brett 08-04-2010 08:05 PM

People on MacRumors complaining because they wanted a new GUI.

Only iPhone 3GS and the latest iPod touch will get multitasking. The 3G and 2nd gen iPod touch will get some stuff. iPhone EDGE is left out.

**** YOU JOBS I'M OUT

Like the sound if being able to create folders, so you can group together apps!

Same - No change on the lockscreen and notifications. Completely underwhelmed by that.

Heb 7:4 08-04-2010 08:26 PM

I think it's all rather good. I dare say it might even be the end of my bothering to jailbreak

I'm happy with the announcements but it is the pricing that'll do it for me. Apple tax is increasing at an unprecedented rate - on all products - and mobile operators will have to replace revenues from somewhere once Ofcom's limit on termination charges comes into force.

It won't be long before we'll have to pay in excess of £100 for the iPhone in addition to a minimum of £40pm for the contract.

That sort of spend is unworkable for me and I earn decent money.

Makes sense, processor would have taken a battering on anything less so I can understand it.

I suspect also there a lot of people on 3G waiting to see what would happen and will now jump to iphone next gen instead of going to android which is doing its best not to appeal to the consumer with the multitude of options and no unifying standard set, still its early days and hopefully the upgrades will help here for the non geeks.

Now this is great news...

Security is another major improvement for the enterprise aspects of iPhone OS 4, with new encryption options and support for forthcoming SSL VPN applications from Juniper and Cisco. Finally, support for multiple Exchange accounts and compatibility with Exchange Server 2010 offers more flexibility for corporate users.

Hopefully they'll enabled some server side control of content too, this will make my life a hell of a lot easier.

Do you have to pay for the update?
