If you have a Hotmail Live Plus account (I think) you can put the settings into your mail settings and it works.
I'm using hotmail now on my iPhone through the mail applet :p
(if this is old news, please excuse me ;))

Baloo 29-01-2009 09:31 AM

The Silent Hill game for the iphone is pretty cool, especially through headphones. Well worth £3.49.

FraserH 30-01-2009 09:37 AM

games i have recently got for my ipod touch:

virtual pool - was 59p when i got it - 9/10
slotz - 1.19p - 10/10
mafia live - 1.79p - 9/10
Flick Fishing - 59p - 8/10
flick bowling - 59p - 7/10
Touch Grind - 2.99p - 10/10

all of the above are recommended

wickham_eagle 30-01-2009 11:40 PM

just downloaded a handy application for contract users called Mobile allowance (£0.59p) which once you've signed in your O2 user and password gives you a update list of remaining monthly minutes and text messages and lets you know when next allowance starts

Works fine again now, very strange.

It's not. Hence the word 'alternative' in my post!

Kevin T 08-02-2009 09:49 PM

FastLane is a pretty good racing game.

Highbury Eagle 08-02-2009 09:56 PM

The ITN news app is quite good, one of the best news apps out there. Free as well.

Highbury Eagle 08-02-2009 10:00 PM

And for a bit of fun, the Mr T app, Ipity is now free!

Dave 08-02-2009 10:01 PM

None of the news apps make sense to me - why wouldn't you just use a bookmark to Itn or BBC?

Baloo 09-02-2009 08:53 AM

I agree, Dave. Bizarre.

Real Football 2009, on the other hand, is the best iPhone game encountered so far.

It's no help to you, I know, but I am so glad I grabbed myrail lite when it was still available. It's still working - it was invaluable a couple of days ago when I needed to be in London for a meeting, and was running late. I thought I had missed the 9:00am train - but myrail showed that it had been delayed by 10 minutes, so I dashed to the platform and just caught it. I wouldn't have bothered without this information and would have had to wait 45 minutes for the next train.

I hope that myrail comes back in some form for those who haven't got it.

A few more for you - spent last last day and a half running over a few apps :)

Scratch Plus for the DJ's amongst is us pretty cool. I could imagine using this alongside decks at a club to add an extra dimension.

Just been hooked on Fieldrunners for the last 2 hours! Tower defence clone but great - controls work just fine.

Real Soccer 09 is a pretty good Fifa clone.

iWik - a wikipedia thing

Newsstand - nice looking RSS aggregator with funky reader.

Dave 15-02-2009 04:42 PM

Isn't an rss reader without offline support pointless?

Anonymous 15-02-2009 05:19 PM

well, there was a good on on the Palm a few years back that supported offline support - thought it was called avantgo. But seeing as I'll mostly get *some* sort of signal on this phone I should imaginge, it's no biggy.

Dave 15-02-2009 05:27 PM

It must be my cold, I don't understand. You could just go to the real website if you have an internet connection.

Anonymous 15-02-2009 05:59 PM

i have found it quicker/convenient in the past - my N95 was crap for inernet, and the BB ain't much better.

Heb 7:4 15-02-2009 06:23 PM

I've just discovered an App for my windows mobile phone called comic book reader. I know this is the iPhone thread, but am enjoying reading sandman/batman on my phone so thought I'd suggest it to those that hadn't considered using their iPhones to do this! Sorry if it's already been mentioned.

Anyway, this appears to be the iPhone app that does the same :)

Anonymous 15-02-2009 06:38 PM

just been reading about Apple iPhone Killswitch. Apparently there is a line of code that can use to delete apps from your iPhone. This may affect those of you in the future who are using the MyRail application if they chose to delete it.

If you have a jailbroken phone you can disable this killswitch using an app called Bossprefs, that also does other stuff too.

It's easier on the eye and less hassle. No sodding about turning your phone on the side, stretching the screen in and out to get the right link. If you just want the latest headlines at a glance, it's cool.

You could say the same about the iFooty app. All the info is available elsewhere on the web, but if you just want a snap shot of the latest Palace news, in match text commentary and previous results, it's just easier.

Getting my itouch tommorow! Do most apps cost?

Highbury Eagle 25-02-2009 05:02 PM

I wish beerintheevening would do an app that tells you the nearest pub and details of it. That would be fab.

Jimbo number 5 25-02-2009 05:23 PM

can you play music while playing any of these games?

Conger 25-02-2009 05:23 PM

Anonymous 25-02-2009 06:18 PM

Have I recommended FriendSync yet? syncs your phone contacts with your facebook friends and adds all the pics from their profiles. Their pictures then pop up when they call you - very cool, and at £0.59, a bargain.

SOme do, some don't. A lot of the good ones are free and a lot of the paid ones are not that good. Best bet is to read threads like this one or similar on other forums.

If you just can't wait til tomorrow why not download the latest iTunes now - you can browse the iTunes store and look at the different apps and the reviews on there

richdeniro 27-02-2009 10:00 AM

For Jailbroken Phones:

NES, SNES, Megadrive & PSX Emulators are quality. (You'll also need to download a program called OpenSSH).

Adblock - anyone familiar with Firefox will know.

Clippy - allows copy/paste.

Cycorder - records video.

Emoji - Smiley pack for text messages.

Quickgold - Finds anything on your iphone through a search facility, lets you launch apps quicker as well.

SBSettings - Quick access to turn things like bluetooth and wifi on/off.

Status Notifier - Notifications for e-mail, sms, etc in the status bar.

Talk Me - Will read out text messages for you.

My new favourite game is the highly addictive puzzle game BLOCKED.

At 59p it's a steal.

I have worked my way to level 50 - but it's now getting very tough.

The game involves sliding blocks, to release a blue block in the middle. Some of the levels seem impossible at first sight, and it is very satisfying when you discover the solution.

James, off topic on this thread but get Braid on your 360 from Xbox Live. Its only cheap at the moment its a platformer and it has some real cerebal teases. Blocks, sounds good, I'm gonna give it a go.

Ridcully 01-03-2009 11:01 PM

bought blocked an hour ago, can't put it down. Thanks James best game I've played on it so far, completely recommended here too.

Tiki Towers is a good game for 59p! Can get the lite version for free to try it out.

jonesy101 08-03-2009 03:57 PM

Bought blocked last night, very good for 59p :p

James 14-03-2009 09:47 AM

For those who have installed the full version of Labyrinth (in my view still the best game in the ITunes armoury) - there are a lot more levels available, including a couple I have submitted (designed mainly by my Son).

Start the game, press 'play' and then the + sign (top right). It's the two Mitchell Family Packs that are our contribution.

Obviously any flattering comments on those levels would be greatly appreciated!

Kevin T 14-03-2009 03:37 PM

Getting stuck on blocked around about level 50 though

Kevin T 20-03-2009 08:44 AM

I've been stuck on level 6 of the first Mitchell pack for a week now. It's driving me MENTAL

Kevin T 22-03-2009 09:08 AM

On to pack 2

Highbury Eagle 22-03-2009 11:31 AM

Niceaction 29-03-2009 03:27 AM

Flight Control is a brilliant game where you are a flight control agent landing planes.

Also, National Rail have put a timetable up for £5. It's quite steep for an app, but it is very good.

thehound 29-03-2009 11:27 AM

Just on recommendations from here i have bought:
Blocked
Flight Control
Mafia Live

Will try them out and report back.

Beatmaker - its £11.99 but it bring hours of entertainment creating your own tracks. its like reason in your pocket
http://www.intua.net/products.html

Technobox - its a and tr 808 and a tb 303 in your pocket

Measures - will convert anything

Wunder raidio - best radio app i can find

Correct. It's a shame. MyRailLite is a very good application.

Stavros 69 29-03-2009 08:15 PM

Total bastards.

£5 is a rip off

Highbury Eagle 29-03-2009 08:24 PM

Wankers. Myrail was such a good app as well. £5 is just wrong.

Niceaction 29-03-2009 10:11 PM

I got my Iphone a couple of days after MyRail was taken down, so cannot comment on how good it is/was. However, the National Rail application is very good, and in my opinion is worth £5.

Also, i'll say it again, Flight Control is stupidly addictive even if I am rubbish. Top score of 65 so far.

have to agree as a regular commuter this is a essential application for me and works the same as Myrail and the bonus feature on this version is the planned journey times and is worth the £4.99

Kevin T 30-03-2009 01:38 PM

I use iRail and that's not giving me any error message. Not sure if it was free or I paid for it.

Ralph - How long left on your contract and what's your average monthly bill. I got o2 to upgrade me a couple of months early.

fang 30-03-2009 01:49 PM

You take a photo. You can add silly bits (voice bubbles, moustaches etc. ) if you want, and then upload from the phone direct to your facebook/myspace etc. Page.

Finbar 30-03-2009 01:52 PM

Well for anyone using Southern rail into London this website is great for updates on train time arrivals, which platform and you can click and see the what times the trains called previous stations (so even though it might say it's on time you can see if it called other stations late so is likely to be late again)

I have just bookmarked each station I use

For East Croydon:
http://www.livedepartureboards.co.uk...dep.aspx?T=ECR

Not sure it's as good as the one that's going but it's free so might be a good alternative

It's a remake of the old Amiga classic and it's fab.

Random* 30-03-2009 11:56 PM

I slightly begrudge them the £5 for the national rail app, but it seems good - I wish it had platform numbers though.

That thing that's supposed to tune into a 'free' FM radio station is useless and annoying but I'm assuming there must be a better way?
