I think Venables was going to substitute Jerry Murphy but then he scored a worldy and Venables talked about Murphy making him look stupid?

I thought it was the home game that was on, didn’t realise it was the away game, i don’t remember seeing it at all back then or since, not one of our nicer yellow kits.

That's because it wasn't our kit. It was Sheff Utd's.

To be fair, they did reach the quarter finals that season. They were drawn at home to Ipswich and it inevitably ended in a mini riot when it became clear that Millwall were heading for a 1-6 thrashing. I think it was more a case of mindless vandalism born out of frustation that an attack on the visiting fans although I wouldn't have wanted to take my chances as an away fan that afternoon.
