The Addison Lee app is pretty cool. It will send you a cab to your location by knowing where you are from your phone location.

You have to have an Addison Lee account but they are pretty easy to get.

Need some help, considering 32gb Ipod Touch for one if not all my kids, are they any good for games? Are they better or worse than a DS lite or two different beasts?

Dave 07-12-2009 09:24 AM

My personal opinion is that the ds lite is much better for gaming, the real keyboard and dual screen as well as better games

CPFC Cheerleader Observer 07-12-2009 11:08 AM

Have to agree. Standard rules apply most of the time.

If you want to play games, buy a games console!

If you want to listen to songs, buy an mp3 player!

It seemed a do it all purchase, email, web, skype, games and music. Looked at games on you tube and the graphics looked better than the DS. but hadn't considered the lack of dpad, which means all games are movement or touch, which I can now see isn't ideal.

She has on her list a DS lite to replace her aged old original DS, and MP3/Ipod.

Ok slightly off topic but I could do with getting a Touch this Christmas. I don't want an iPhone as my Hero sits nicely in my pocket and I don't want an iPhone sized device with me all of the time.

8gb is £139 compared to 32gb at £209. Various relatives seem to be hinting that they are up for getting me the 8gb but I'm wondering whether it's worth throwing another £70 towards it myself for the bigger storage?

Ordinarily I'd take the opinion that you can never have enough storage but the only issue I have is that I never used to fill up my 4gb Mini. I prefer to rotate my music every now and then. As a case in point I have 40 songs on my Hero!

Obviously I didn't have apps or games on my Mini - but are they likely to take up that much space?

Games/Apps on the iphone/ipod touch normally take up about 2-4 meg each so it depends on how many apps you're planning on having

8 gig one is old version (despite being branded as 3rd gen by Amazon etc), only 32 & 64 offer the upgraded hardware.

Is that likely to make a huge difference to `the experience` though?

Dave 07-12-2009 05:52 PM

You won't miss what you have never had but I'd always try and get the latest hardware rev from Apple

No new apps?

CPFC Cheerleader Observer 12-12-2009 09:25 AM

Camera Plus is a rather good FREE app to give 3G iphone users a camera that has a zoom and better focus

BulletEagle 12-12-2009 11:10 AM

Just been looking around the app store, not sure if it has been mentioned, but PandoraBox is a great little app which tells you which apps are on sale, what price they are at, for how long, and then links you to the app store.

All though I agree the ds is probably better overall for games unless you are a torrent junky and know how to get round it you will be paying £20+ for games and its bulkier than the iTouch.

Whereas with the touch you can get games from as little as 59p and also have a decent mp3 player to boot which can also go online to websites etc etc etc
