Tethering in the UK is the same price as with a data dongle? Are they trying to encourage jailbreaking?

James Melody 09-06-2009 07:49 AM

I'm with Ridcully - looks like a January Android device.

Voldo 09-06-2009 08:20 AM

Oh man, i have been on a simplicity tariff for a few months while i wait for this and its way too expensive...

problem is people will pay it

paf 09-06-2009 08:55 AM

Hilarious stuff.

Looking forward to the brains in this thread joining the android gang.

Voldo 09-06-2009 09:59 AM

Feck it, i might go 24 months on 45 quid tariff and get the phone for free - i will still be on O2 in 24 months anyway....

Can't you change your tariff after 6 months anyway?

I can transfer apps onto it from itunes can't i? my itouch already has a load.....

Heb 7:4 09-06-2009 10:32 AM

How long do O2 have exclusivity for?

Stavros 69 09-06-2009 10:55 AM

Seems a joke price, i'll be waiting and see what happens.
It's a great product but if work give me a crackberry i'll just keep my 3g.

paf 09-06-2009 12:02 PM

a £1000 contract for a 'free' phone.

chortle.

UEAgle 09-06-2009 01:56 PM

best place to insure an iphone?

£10 a month with o2 seems excessive.

if your with Lloyds and have a gold account they offer free mobile insurance which does cover the Iphone,

the new contract prices are steep think i'll wait till march for my upgrade and hoefully get the new Iphone a lot cheaper

kolinkins 09-06-2009 02:33 PM

Those prices are madness!

Why the change?

cos they have realised they could stick an apple logo on a banana and people would sleep outside the store to pay £200 for it on launch day.

Hat's off to them for creating a desirable/must have brand.

kolinkins 09-06-2009 02:43 PM

Which is ironic because their popularity ball began to role when people wanted to get away from a brand dominating a market....

If some one stuck a banana in front of you, i hate to think where you'd stick it.

seriously, loking on hotukdeals, it really does make a LOT more sense to buy one contract free and then take a £20 a month simplicity sim only tarriff that includes unlimited net, would save you hundreds of pounds.

I love the genii on this thread.

Because 02 / apple bump their prices for a new phone that makes existing android phones better than the existing Iphones?

That or some other shit I can't be arsed to decrypt

Android is a much better PHONE, is far more open source and a lot less expensive. It does have less apps, but all of the essential ones have been replicated or ported. It does not have a virtual carlsberg pint taking advantage of the accelerometer, so I guess you win.
