Anyone got any tips on how I should approach them?

any other network, no problemo. But even 02 should cut you some slack, if it's an 18 month contract I'm sure all networks allow you to change after 15 months. Again, just be careful that they dont try and add 24 months to your 3, making a 27 month contract. Especially if you are a heavy user, that nice shiny bit of kit probably wont be shiny and nice in 2 years time.

You have a lot longer than 3 months to go though.

Look, I've already suggested this. Sell phone to bananagreen, they give top dollar for your existing phone, use cash to buy out remaining contract, get iphone.

My crap N95 they will pay £145.

Newts G 14-05-2009 09:15 AM

Or buy the PAYG iphone, extend your contract with O2 (get £100 credit and half price line rental of £20 per month, 600 mins, 1000 texts unlimited web browsing) you will be quids in over an 18 month contract as you will save £224 in line rental over 18 months, £156 for buying the 16gb on 18 month contract, and you will also get the £100 credit total saving £469. 16gb PAYG iphone £391.45

You would be better off by £77.55

However this is depending on whether or not the iphone tariff offers anything more than mins, text and web browsing.

Thanks for your help.

Just got one. They were proper stubborn about things and made it clear where they stood, but offered me an out on my current contract - had to pay the next two months line rental (at a discounted rate) and gave me an 8GB 3G iPhone on an 18 month contract for nothing at £35 a month.

Huzzah. Now I can play.

I'll take that rather than have to pay to get out of my existing contract which as it stands would cost me about £150.00

minus old handset trade in, you'd be paying the same as Spikey Matt.

Lizzy are you an online 02 person? you should be ablee to upgrade 3months before your contract ends if you are, though it might be waiting to the new phone comes out now!:p

Lizzy 14-05-2009 05:03 PM

Yeah they are letting me upgrade at end of August rather than December when contract ends. Plus isn't there a new iphone model due out sometime soon. Probably better to wait anyway if that is the case.

What's 7 x £35.00

I reckon I have dun me mafs wrong.

I have to pay 7 x £35.00 to get out of my contract.

I really can't be arsed to go and find somewhere to trade a knackered old N95 in.

I'll just wait, patience is a virtue.

kitticat 14-05-2009 05:05 PM

I've just been given a nokia 5800, I have no idea what it even looks like.

Have you tried getting your iPhone on the NHS?
