True but I can't imagine many people wanting to watch that amount of video on a three inch screen, for them I agree that the battery life on the 3GS is significantly better, for everyone else it is a nice minor bump but not worth upgrading for.

However, compared to Mrs Smoz's 3G mine certainly seem quicker (snappier) in operation (opening apps etc). For me the auto focus camera is good, while the video camera and compass are nice things to have but currently seldom used, though this may change if newer apps utilise these functions (sat nav, augmented reality etc).

Well no, there are improvements across the board.

well, after a day of reading reviews and hunting around for deals, have gone with the HTC hero (or gs touch as its on tmobile) seems ipod vs hero.. both have good and bad points and for me the hero had more of the good points i want and less of the bad. so far looks pretty good. a step up from the old faithfull that was my 810i for the last 3 years.

I dont think thats a bad shout. I had a play about on a friends HTC hero at work - a millwall fan but i still valued his judgment - and was very impressed. it is without doubt a competitor and i dont entirely like the fact that so very many people have iphones. as in, people that just dont understand how many things it can do other than stupid games. i am certainly torn between the 3GS and the Hero.

As far as I'm aware, the hero will just have additional software ontop of the clunky Windows mobile OS.
Don't do it :)

Oops!

In actual fact, I knew that as I looked at one last week. Just me being silly.

Not such a bad choice then, although I know pretty much nothing about android

I just don't know whether or not I should jail break my one. Can anybody point me in the direction of a website that shows me the advantages and disadvantages?

Found a few but there doesn't appear to be any balanced articles.

Thoughts and opinions welcome here as well of course :p

GodstoneEagle 08-09-2009 11:28 PM

Don't do it.

David Amsalem 08-09-2009 11:58 PM

Why...?

GodstoneEagle 09-09-2009 12:00 AM

Tainting the sanctity of the iPh.

I also think that there is too much risk attached and I am too much of a scaredycat.

Popester 09-09-2009 12:21 AM

IPhone wins over anything HTC at the mo. IMHO.

Jailbreaking lets you do way cool stuff, biggest issue is that it will slow down your phone and it's a PITA everytime apple do an update

And invalidates your warranty. There's no actual risk involved in breaking the phone though. I've given up on it though.
