Couldn't get the Topps website to work for me today, so ordered todays Topps Now from that ebay seller in the USA - even with postage it worked out cheaper than the UK price.

Received my Topps Chrome cards in the post today from my mate in China. I didn't know what to expect from photos online/ebay etc, but have to say they are quite nice.

There are lots of different colour parallels, but if you can, do try to get either a 'red wave' or 'blue wave' version of a card - these are super fancy shimmery effect cards, whereas all the other colours are just a colour tint on a mirror effect. The red/blue wave ones are really unusual!

I only do the stickers so I don't follow or understand the Topps card thing but I'm enjoying the new PL stickers all the same. I got Wilf shiny last week :)

Anyway, I came across these today at my long deceased grandpa's house in Thornton Heath. Anyone know what year(s)? they are from or what sort of album they would go in? On the back it tells you where to put the glue and says there will be a player bio in the album.

They are a combination of FKS stickers from 1970/71 and 1971/72

Yes to your question, first set they did on Palace was 1969/70 although all the players shown (15 No) were all wearing the 1968/69 strip. Sets were done for all seasons between 1969/70 and 1972/73 inclusive.

Topps came along and produced sets (15 No Players) for seasons 1971/72 and 1972/73

I've received a selection of cards from the Tools Chrome collection.

The gold parallel (/50) and the orange parallel (/25) are virtually identical!

Really was no need to bulk up the collection with so many parallels, but if so they should have done more versions like the red wave and blue wave effects

Has anyone tried to do the 'but your last lot of stickers' thing for the topps PL this season?

I can't find where/ how to buy them online.
The option doesn't seem to be on the website this year although in the album it says you can do it on the website.
I presumed it would be here https://uk.topps.com/sport/missing-s...-football.html but as you can see it doesn't have the option.

I emailed them but haven't had a reply.

Any suggestions welcome. I know I can do it by post too but online is (usually) so much easier.

I just collect Palace cards and stickers, and so found a seller on ebay selling all the Palace ones for a few quid.

Might be that postal (using the form in the book) is the only option since they relaunched their website

Yeah for the stickers. The album says you can get them from the website - as you have been able to for previous seasons - but they don't actually appear to be available on there. More frustrating is that no one replies to their contact form when I have asked on there twice. Never mind.

There's a new card to keep an eye out for in a series by Topps

The series is called "Topps on Demand Premier League inspired by 1977 Footballers"

Basically it is a US exclusive series, and the 5th such series.
Previous series have been Star Wars cards and Garbage Pail Kids cards.

As you might imagine, most of the cards are for players from the 'big 6' clubs, nevertheless there is a Zaha card, which comes in 4 different parallels

The style of the cards is like Topps 1977

Topps Now has mostly been 3 cards per week this season. Last season it was usually 5 cards. Topps prioritise the 'Big 6' clubs as they sell more per card. Burnley and Bournemouth cards for example are not such big sellers.

Presume Panini are taking over the licence next season?

They will probably do Adrenalyn cards for the Match Attax market, and Prism for the premium stuff.

In place of 'Topps Now', for some time Panini have done 'Instant' cards, which is effectively the same thing, but often with very high postage charges as they don't post from the UK, and to have them sent from the US they have only had the option of courier post.

Hopefully Panini do a top grade collection, like their 'National Treasures' and 'Immaculate' collections - really fantastic cards, with great autos and relics. There is always a market for that sort of stuff.

Next up is Panini Immaculate due at end of June all being well, which alongside National Treasures IMO is the main Premium card collection these days - Topps Premier Gold/Chrome/Platinum were all a bit weak on relics and autos recently from a Palace collecting POV. Maybe Topps will hang back for a season or two without the PL license?

Recent editions of Immaculate have been the Hennessey and Benteke collection!

In last years Immaculate collection, amongst the shadowbox signature cards and boot relics, I got a terrific Hennessey/Bale dual auto/jumbo relic book card - it is awesome!

Will be interesting now that Panini have the PL Licence as to whether they stick to players in National kit for Immaculate, or if they feature club kits (because if they did then the Man Utd and Liverpool cards in particular would really be popular)

I tend to initially just go for a set of 'base' cards, and if I can get one of each parallel colour (across all the Palace players) then that is a bonus, with 1/1's excepted of course.

Sometimes even 1/10's are stupidly overvalued and worth swerving.

I learned very quickly from the first (Topps) Premier Gold set after promotion, that chasing rainbows(!) across all the players was just ridiculous, both in terms of time spent, but also of course the ridiculous cost.

We've been very lucky to have such a lengthy run in the top flight to be able to collect so much. Even if it ended soon, I could amuse myself for years filling various gaps and obtaining many parallels

No surprise that Benteke, Hennessey and Ledley are massively over-featured. They have been over used in numerous panini card series over the last 2-3 years (Immaculate, National Treasures, Noir etc)

Could have also done without Ian Wright.

Someone should sell all the 15 base cards as a set for starters. If they are coming from abroad the key is to try and get as much as possible from the same seller and combine postage

Agree re Ian Wright. IMO the best Palace player I ever seen, but FFS, Geoff, Nigel, AJ or even bloody Pardew would be preferable

Not cards/stickers, but another sort of collecting, there will be Soccerstarz (mini figures) for Cahill, Ayew and McCarthy. These usually come out just before Christmas

Having just looked at the prizm cards on ebay, not sure how I would describe them, they are not photographic, more like etchings. Certainly would not pay
£275 for a James Tomkins gold prizm card 3/10, the paralell card are certainly to be avoided at these sort of prices, who buys these at these sort of prices?

Thanks to ebay's 'global shipping programme' , most of the U.S. Sellers are charging the best part of 20 quid for postage.
Any package over 20 Quid (the contents value) should also attract the interest of the customs at this end, with the post office holding it ransom!

I bought a base cards set from an Australian seller and they arrived today. They are nice but a bit 'Plastic'' to be honest.

The cards also come in all sort of prism effect parallel versions. When I was a kid, collecting sticker albums, the 'shinies' were always special, but this is like a whole set of shinies!!!

When we got promoted in 2013, there had never been a collection like Premier Gold, with auto and Jersey cards, and so I chased all the parallels I could. I thought Palace would go straight down, so enjoy it while it lasted, and get as much as possible! 7 seasons on, I take a more laid back approach and just win for one of each card (and nearly always not the rarer parallels!)

I have a contact in China who gets me stuff at sensible prices, he knows loads of collectors and traders over there, and luckily nobody wants Palace cards!

In terms of premium auto and relic cards, I think that collectors of 'big 6' clubs really do pay 3 figure prices. For clubs like Palace, the crazy prices almost never get paid and the cards just gather dust as old stock for years to come.

The other thing about this year's Prizm, is that the stadium and club badge cards are inserted quite frugally (low ratios)compared to usual, so these will logically be dearer if people want them. Personally I am willing to play a long waiting game until the prices come down for some of the cards. Even the rarest stuff eventually surfaces at sensible prices if you keep waiting

Against my better judgement , i have bitten the bullet and got quite a few of the Prizm parallels and the rarer stadium, auto cards, Have sadly paid more than i excepted, The Kaboom luka card costing me an arm & leg,
Yes the postage from the USA is very expensive , have asked sellers to put a very low value on the packet to avoid any customs charges,
