Thanks James :)

Interesting, albeit messy, read.

Star Walk, for the geek novice astronomers out there. I imagine good to teach kids. If you are using on your iPhone with location services on, point camera towards a clear night sky, and it will tell what star is what or planet or galaxy.

The 12 days of Christmas App 2011 has just sent me a push to say theres a gift today. I opened it and it was a free one called soundhound but for anyone that doesn't already have it, its well worth downloading.

Its basically the same as Shazam where by if you hear a song that you like but you don't know what it is, open the app, tap the main button and it will analysis the music and tell you what is it.

Then why have it over Shazam which is free?

I've personally had better results with Soundhound. I have both on my phone and have tested them both with some fairly obscure stuff and for me SH seems better on the less commercially known stuff.

Soundhound is free as well.

Personally I've found Shazam to be more accurate as it happens. Soundhound failed on four tracks in the pub last night all of which Shazam correctly identified.

Grand theft auto is out now :)

Temple Run is pretty good. Is free too.

I think Soundhound also allows you to sing a song to it and it will try to identify it. Mixed results so far with my singing abilities!

Is Bloom.fm out yet? Have been beta testing it for the last couple of weeks.

Nice little music app.

Sorry, I presumed as it was on the 12 days of Christmas thing you usually have to pay for it.

I've found Shazam to be pretty good, tested it on what was to me some pretty obscure music, including Marks & Spencer music which had lyrics, and also on some background instrumental music in a Radisson hotel bar. Whether they are correct is a different matter.

Apparently not, but there's a new version on TestFlight. Now has playlists :)

I'm confused now, all the downloaded '12 days of christmas' content is free. or at least it has been up till now IIRC.

Me too now, I thought that usually you would have to pay for the apps that are appearing as part of the 12 days of Christmas, but as a christmas present apple are giving them away free.
