Got one just now will have to give it a proper charge before having a play but can't wait. Had the choice between white and black but opted for black as it looks better.
|
Mine has dropped service again but this time im really worried as it hasn't had a service all morning.
|
airplane mode on then off should fix that
|
|
Huh - what do you need flash and java for other than Youtube which is available?
|
erm, I don't know.
I just don't like being misled |
I think the ruling is harsh especially when there is something a lot more obvious they could and should be pulled up on...
|
it's not that fast either!!
shan't bother with one then |
It's not really a you thing anyways.

I am going to get one when my present contract with T-Mobile expires in October.
Is it easy these days to keep your number when you change providers? |
It's simplicity itself. Make sure you order your PAC code in advance...
|
Going to get the 3G soon :)
|
Does anyone know if themes can be installed without jailbreak?
|
Nope
|

I swapped from T-mobile also, if you didn't realise already, you need to give them 30 days notice of termination unless you are porting your number in which case the switch off coincides with the port. You have to be on the last day of your contract to get the PAC otherwise you will have to pay them for it. |
Quote:
|
Then you'll have to pay, you will also have a temporary O2 number for four or so days, i just diverted all calls to the iphone temp number to get round this.
Key points for me though were - t-mob require 30 days notice to end the contract - if you are in your last month of contract even though you've already paid your line rental in advance, they will charge you for a PAC |
I recently celebrated my 1 monthiversary with my iPhone, I love it and we are very happy together :)

Have any regulators ever had any power?
|
None when they're in bed with the people they're meant to be protecting the public against.
Are the EU still investigating Ofcom for colluding with the mobile operators over price-fixing? |
Anything new worth downloading?
|
iFooty if you haven't got it already and the Movie (top free app) thing are nice.
|
Oh and the 1337pwn xbox thing is free now which is handy for xbox live
|

Got the 1337 xbox live app, great idea and very handy to have.
Got iFooty and Movies both very handy. Downloaded Dactyl last night, a bomb defusing game, really addictive and tough as hell! |
Question for the iPhone users that have upgraded from the 1st generation iPhone to the 3g version?
Has it been worth it? |
Probably not
|
Who knew?
|
OK - cheers Dave.
|
Can i have a review of the battery life please, it's one of my main worries.
|
Charged mine Tuesday night to full, its got about 10% left right now which reminds me, I should put it onto charge. Surfed a bit, used it for about 50 mins of calls altogether, compared to my old WM6 phone (Tytn / Vario 2) I'd say the battery life at the moment is better on the iPhone.

Battery life is a pain in the arse at first, this is my first iPhone and the novelty factor although wearing off now means that im playing games, checking email, chacking facebook etc etc, I literally have to charge mine every night.
|
So i'd have to get a lot of chargers in other words ?
|

I ported with about 2 weeks to go and it was 12.50 |

Before Dave chips in....yes its not technically a smart phone As for chargers, I got myself a in car USB charger and just carry the USB lead around with me, providing you are near something with a USB connection you can charge. I use the main charger at home, the work computer when I'm in the office and the USB cigarette lighter adapter when I'm in the car. Pretty easy really. |

The Stavros does not carry a wire around with him.

he's wearing a wire. i know it.

The roaming problems I experienced when on the cusp of a 2G and 3G signal appears to have been sorted by the last s/w upgrade and it seems pretty stable now especially with regard to Safari which kept dropping out initially. The GPS has actually got me out of trouble twice in the last two days so it got a big tick for that. |
I have an issue.
I have bluetooth preparation in my car (a 2007 BMW 5 series) - and apparently the 3g version will not work properly with it. There is a cradle for the 2g version - but the 3g will not fit it since it has a curved back. No new cradle is likely this year. Should I go for the 'older' model? How much better is the 3g version? Car use is essential for me, so unless I am prepared to switch my sim card in to my old phone when I travel, it looks like the 3g version may not be any use (at least until Apple/BMW sort out the problem). |
You can't buy the 2G version new
|
Pay as you go out in the next few weeks - good deal with free web browsing and wi-fi for some while too:

Quick question.
If I’m listening to some tunes and my phone rings or get a text message, does it notify you and interrupt your music ?? Also what's the vibrate like ?? Thanks |
Jesus wept

It's the little things in life Dave. |
I know you aren't the sharpest Tim but what do you think would happen if you got a call when listening to music. Have a stab at an answer.

I never have a ringtone on my phone, so i want to know what the vibrate is like and what happens if the phone is in my pocket etc.
It's quite important !! |
I reckon it vibrates, whether the phone is in your pocket or not. :p
|
Amazingly a phone that costs over 800 quid does have a vibrate function.
|
Quote:
Do you ever answer a question ?? |
Vibrating is vibrating ffs.
To be blunt, much like PM, I don't really think the Iphone is very 'you'. |
Quote:
what does that mean exactly though Dave? |

I like to be able to feel it in my pocket as my samsung one was crap. much love..goodbye. |
There's a big Samsung Omina launch in the Wharf over the next few days, i might pop in and have a look.
|
I think you would be much happier with a windows mobile device

Where? I didn't pay anything for mine and even the 16GB one on PAYG is only £399

The tariff + cost of phone
|
Very strange logic Dave, even for you.

But shockingly accurate.......

James, just because you have an iphone, it doesn't make you the cool Webb character.

You can't calculate an absolute using a variable. For example using your logic the phone is worth £1350 if you are on the £75 personal tariff and that is the same value on either the 8GB or 16GB. The 8GB version is worth £639 if you take it on the £30 tariff. Your logic is similar to trying to work out the price of a car by factoring in the cost of the petrol. |
Mellers, I am not sure this is an argument worth winning.
|

Anyways, my apologies for not getting the price exact enough for you. |
FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT
|
No need to fight. Dave has apologised.

Er. Excuse me.
I have got one of these thingies. Why can't you send photos you have taken to other mobile numbers? Also, my ITunes isn't working. It says I need to connect to a WiFi network first. I thought I was connected to one as the internet and emailing works. ??? |
The £800 iPhone doesn't have MMS support.
|
that's a bit shit.
|
It's dead technology - use email
|
ah I see.
that's probably more useful. |
Quote:
Hmmmmm. That's a bit arse, isn't it. |
Cant say I've missed MMS at all, was a bit worried but tbh email is easier and the people I seem to be sending to pick it up quicker and it's easier for them to send it o. Or whatever.

There aren't many women contributing to this thread, I've noticed.

What is the deal with "jailbreaking" anyway? I don't mean the action, the term. What smug tosser thought that "unlocking" was fine for other phones but not quite up to scratch for the iPhone?
|
Quote:
Jailbreaking is breaking to iPhones security and code to make changes, and install a applications that apple either don't support, or don't approve of.. |
