Dave, the cost of the phone is normally the unsubsidised price. The PAYG version of the phone is available for 399 which would indicate a price half of your (rather clumsy) estimate.

You can't calculate an absolute using a variable. For example using your logic the phone is worth £1350 if you are on the £75 personal tariff and that is the same value on either the 8GB or 16GB. The 8GB version is worth £639 if you take it on the £30 tariff.

Your logic is similar to trying to work out the price of a car by factoring in the cost of the petrol.

Mellers, I am not sure this is an argument worth winning.

Only if the petrol subsidised the price of the car.

Anyways, my apologies for not getting the price exact enough for you.

hoopsmccan 09-09-2008 08:02 PM

Er. Excuse me.

I have got one of these thingies. Why can't you send photos you have taken to other mobile numbers?

Also, my ITunes isn't working. It says I need to connect to a WiFi network first. I thought I was connected to one as the internet and emailing works. ???

James Melody 09-09-2008 09:13 PM

The £800 iPhone doesn't have MMS support.

PalaceMonkey 10-09-2008 09:59 AM

that's a bit shit.

Dave 10-09-2008 10:09 AM

It's dead technology - use email

PalaceMonkey 10-09-2008 10:12 AM

ah I see.
that's probably more useful.

Hmmmmm.

That's a bit arse, isn't it.

cumbrian_eagles 10-09-2008 12:20 PM

Cant say I've missed MMS at all, was a bit worried but tbh email is easier and the people I seem to be sending to pick it up quicker and it's easier for them to send it o. Or whatever.

The iPhone isn't pink?

What is the deal with "jailbreaking" anyway? I don't mean the action, the term. What smug tosser thought that "unlocking" was fine for other phones but not quite up to scratch for the iPhone?

Just to let you know......jailbreaking is not unlocking.
Jailbreaking is breaking to iPhones security and code to make changes, and install a applications that apple either don't support, or don't approve of..

It stems from the Linux/unix world where a user breaks out of a chrooted or restricted environment. It's a bout 30 years old.
