sky have a single server for enabling remote record, it's being totally swamped because of the iphone app, anyone had any success

Definitely. I have a Slingbox and will be first in the queue when this one arrives.

TV Plus for the iPhone has been around since October 2008 and it works perfectly. I have used it many times and it has never let me down.

OK - Dave won't use it because, er, someone might maliciously programme his Sky Plus box if his password is compromised - but for the rest of us, why bother with the definitely inferior Sky+ official release?

Wonder what it will do to the battery life. Need an app to improve that.

eh? That is just a frontend to sky remote record, which is what we are trying to set up.

I downloaded TV Plus a while back, then tried to setup Remote Record on the SKY website. Server down. Tried a few other times in the following days. Fail. Gave up after a while and forgot all about it until this thread.

Sorry, I had assumed that everyone who knew about these things had set up their Sky Remote years ago. I had the Sky + remote record set up on my Nokia.

I have no problem dialling in to connect to the server to register my phone from the tv. I can't activate the service on the website.

Finally bought wundaradio on the recommendation of James. It's excellent.

I've downloaded GPSLite which seems a far more flexible sat nav that the built in one but not tried it in anger. I will report back.

After the National Rail debacle London Underground are having a go but at least are doing the decent thing with an intro price of .59p. Gives you the map, best routes, est journey times etc. 59p well spent

Solitaire is quite addictive and cheap.

Scramble is good and cheap at 59p

Virtual Pool is superb at 59p

If you are into golf video games "Let's Golf" by Gameloft is very good.
Seems to be the best golf app out there. Has killed quite a few hours.
$6 here so I'd imagine it would be 2-3 quid over there.

agree bought this game ages ago and is one of if not the best games I've seen for the iphone and the graphics are top notch and the hard level will keep you playing for ages and price over here for it is £3.49

another good game for the iphone is real football 09 made by the same company as Lets Golf brilliant graphics and easy controls

A heads up for anyone using the sky app to remote record that your sky remote record account is linked to your viewing card, not the box itself so if you get a new box it will still work.

MyHighStreet is a free app which tells you the nearest shop to you. Fast and easy to use with a wide range of shops.

London tube is AWFUL

Put in the journey planner London bridge to Old street. 2 or 3 stops, but instead it takes you the other way round the Northern line!

I did Level 64 almost by accident - however, there is a cheat available on YouTube if you really can't get past it.

i didn't get stuck on 64 but there was a couple in the 70's and 90's i got stuck on for a day or two

ive clocked blocked was stuck for a while on 64 and really tried very hard and suceeded not looking at that cheat:p

has anyone played trace? cool idea for a game basically platform but you draw your own platforms where you think you need them!

CashFinder - Handy application which gives you details of all cash points in your present location and informs you of any nearby which charge you for their use handy to have IMPO

Trace is one of the first games I recommended in this thread. It's an excellent game - although the controls are a little fiddly.

9-Tollbox is a handy group of mini apps including currency conversion, units conversion, worldwide public holidays, spirit level etc etc.

Ive used it enough that it is now on my home bar.

WunderRadio is great, you can listen to 1000's of radio stations from around the world, including Palace radio in digital quality when its broadcasting.

complete blocked after about a week - some were really easy other had me for ages..

Always loved being stuck and coming back to it hours later and finding my way through the level withini about 10 seconds..

I really enjoyed Touch Physics, but you can get around the tricky bits a touch too easily.

The slingbox app is finally here. It's £17.99. I have got it, but it only works over wifi at the moment, so cant use it yet. I’m a bit disappointed they haven't got it for 3G.

Is slingbox the app that allows you to watch freeview channels?

You need the slingbox hardware connected to your tv. The app allows you to watch and control that tv over the net.
If your using the app over wifi then the picture quality should be very good, but as I said, I haven't tested yet.

£18 for the application is ******* ridiculous.

It's also ridiculous that Slingbox isn't supporting the 'old' hardware.

The old hardware isn't officially supported but it does work. Price is steep and lack of 3G is disappointing, but I have a classic and it works fine, other than the aspect ratio having to be letterbox and not as big on the screen as it could be.

I can't believe I got excited about Palace Radio and then had my hopes dashed within 10 seconds. Meh.

I often go to bed listening to crazy shock jocks from across the pond. The other day I listened to some New York radio station ripping into Jaqui Smith. Made me laugh that she was getting both barrels even in the US media. And they use language you'd never hear on radio over here. I was chuckling to myself as they were labelling her a witch and a ******.

Without 3G its pointless. I have had it running fine on my BB Curve even over the Edge network. Anywhere I would use it with 3G, (hotel, airport etc) I have my laptop anyway!

I've been playing with the Slingbox app all night. It's very nice and has no stutter. The Man U Wigan match tonight flowed very nicely without any lag.
If you have a jailbroken phone, you can download Tricker3G to make the iphone believe it is using wifi when you are using a 3g connection.
This makes it really worthwhile in my opinion. The picture quality deteriorates slightly as you might expect, but it is still highly watchable.

The only downside is the long pause between scrolling channels. I have now set up a bunch of favourites to make that much quicker.

£18 is expensive for an app, but for me it is worth it.

That pretty much sums it up for me. 3G is absolutely necessary, and the price is off putting for most.

It is very nice once you've got it going though!

Has anyone else tried the new Print n Share Application? It's not cheap, but so far as I am aware, it's the only really easy to use print application for the IPhone. It works very well - although even if you have a network printer (as I do), you still need your PC (or Mac, or Ubuntu or whatever) switched on to use it. You may print from any source on the IPhone, including web pages, pictures and documents.

Surely this will be in the update later in the year though? Might wait and see if it is

Speaking of Slingbox, I went and got one of these yesterday. Works fine with 3g signal on a jailbreak (broke?), phone with Tricker3g.

It's madness that they haven't (initially), released it to work over 3g. I'm assuming it's more to do with the 'unlimited / fair use' contracts that mobile operators chuck around?
