nasluiphone - nice iphone twitter client
|
I am liking baseball superstars and convertbot is useful
spawn is quite fun. |
cancel the twitter recommendation I am now on twitterific which is much better. Got it going on the Mac too with growl notifications nice.
|
Bloody Virgin have still not delivered our new cable modem, hence i've been offline at home for almost a month.
However, I'm now using PDANet to connect by tethering via USB. Works really well. Did have a few teething problems initially as something on Winterboard had b0rked, but deleting and reinstalling Winterboard fixed it and I'm steaming along at a whopping 30KB/s now :) |
Tweetdeck

Downloaded Runkeeper today.
Good app, managed to track my 0.88 mile :D Don't really see the point in the free version right now! |
ibomber is very good.

I'm going to download that if it's good Ben.
|
Today's recommendations
150 Great books from Beam it down - for £3. Genius. It is excellent. MLB at bat 2009 - a must for baseball fans - can (with the upgrade) watch MLB matches live on your phone. Great condensed game highlights. Soon to be upgraded so MLB TV premium users can watch any match live on their phone. |
Backgrounder for version 3 is now available from Cydia (J/B IPhones only).
|
I now have my Ipod touch
What apps should I download for it? And what should I do re: jailbreaking? |
And should I update the software to 3.0?
|
Guitar Rock Tour is a great Guitar Hero clone if you like that sort of thing
|
And qTweeter has finally been upgraded to work on OS3 for those of you who Twitter (and are j/b)
|
iFooty Plus has Push enabled, so you get notified when a goal goes in.
Tempted, only £1.19 or something like, although might wait until the football season to see what options there are |
grinder is meant to be quite good if u watched top gear.. can tell whoevers gay thats nearby
|
iMapmyrun is smashing for runners. Uses the iPhone's GPS system to record the distance you run, average speed and time and all that and enables you to upload it to your account online so you can manage your training.
And it's free. Lovely. (Takes up a bit of battery when using it mind) |
Quote:
Reviews suggest it is slighty better, but will give iMapmyrun a try |
Not even needed to have a run with imapmyrun, not as nice as runkeeper in my opinion.
Website far too clunky, runkeeper gives you exactly what you need and nothing else. Example of runkeeper: http://bit.ly/P8f4w |
I agree about Runkeeper - after trying a few of the running apps out (though not imapmyrun), it is definitely the best one of those I tried.
|
I've used both and I've found Runkeeper to be more reliable and easier to use.
|
Tried Runkeeper this evening for the first time and found it much better than iMapmyrun.
Cheers for the heads up on that one chaps. |
Why have I only just discovered the Google app. Voice activated Googling is too cool for school.
|
Quote:
It's definately my favourite app. It's actualy encouraged me to start running! |
Quote:
The reckon they will have sorted it for 3.0 by August though. |
Worked fine on National Express for me.
|
Currently, I'm well impressed with BeeJive.
|
I'm loving Shakespeare.
Pretty cool to have all his works on my phone. I've been slowly reading some of the plays I never got round to. |

If there is anyone that has not taken advantage of guinness world records for 59p for the last 2 days, you should be ashamed. It is the best game for ipod by far.
|
Have I mentioned scramble yet. Like boggle. Free!
|
Ragdoll Blaster. Get yourselves involved!
|
Touch Cricket for 59 new pence is not too shabby.
|

Became available later, 'modified' to £2.99 :( |
Comic Reader Mobi (not Mobile, just Mobi)
First class comic book reader. You need to install a sync tool from their website too, but reads .cbr files fine (bizarrely some iPhone comic book readers don't) and is a fantastic smooth app. Got the whole sandman and watchmen on my phone now :) Costs £8.99 though iTunes mind. |
Memory Sweep, just downloaded it and instantly impressed
Free iPhone memory manager, frees up iphone memory. Amazing how much difference in speed it makes to the iphone |
Ragdoll Blaster is great.
|
Big Top 10. Addictive and at 59p a bargain.
|
Has anyone mentioned Stanza, it (sort of) turns your i-pod touch or iphone to a e-reader.

Highly recommended:p |
Can't be arsed to read through thread....what are the best ones out ( i know there is them on the OP but that doesn't seem to be updated)
|
Seems hard to find good new apps. My favourite at the moment are bejewelled 2 and 2 Across. Stanza is good for reading books, comic reader mobile for comics. National Rail is used daily. Touch Physics and Fieldrunners are fun.
|
The free Sky (spit) Sports football one looks like it might get some use this season.
|
Does anyone on this thread have Wunder radio? When I tune to hear the palace games all I get is religious songs but it is clearly showing the place logo HELP PLEASE!!
|
|
Flick Cricket im currently addicted to!

Is there an easy way to transfer my phone numbers from my old prehistoric phone?
|
Quote:
your best off looking through this thread rather than the app one as several have had this problem but from wahat i remember you can either transfer all your numbers to your sim and put it in your new phone - sometimes works or if you have a mac sync your old phone with your mac and then copy the address book to your iphone when plugged in to your computer |
|
Works a treat :) Slightly annoying in that the app itself shows how many new messages you have, whereas you still go into mail to read them. But then the messages pop up like sms alerts on your screen anyway, so you know you've got them.
Very happy! Just need to get google calendar to sync with the iPhone calendar now, as haven't got round to doing that yet. |

I've been told that there is an app that finds unsecure wifi signals so that you can use the internet aboroad for free ........ does anyone know what its called

http://www.ideaexcursion.com/2009/06...iphone-os-3-0/ Bad news is gpush just doesn't work. Did at first, but now I rarely get pop up notifications, and often don't even have the number of mail messages show up. They are working on it, so hopefully it will all be ok! |
Has anyone tried any of the navigation software? I know TomTom finally came out yesterday, but is £60. Co-pilot is £25 and seems to get fairly good reviews, and then there is Navigon
|
I have discovered the best reason yet to Jailbreak the iPhone. At last - Flashplayer on the iPhone 3g!
Now I can watch TV on the BBC IPlayer in brilliant quality. Why on earth Apple are so opposed to allowing adobe to enable flash on Safari is a mystery, as the technology has been available for some time. However, unless and until Apple changes its collective mind, Jailbreaking is the way to go. You need to install imobile cinema from the Cydia store (free) - following which flash video on the iPlayer becomes available (as does a whole host of other video applications). Have a look HERE for a few more details and some screen shots. |

I've used both tomtom and navigon on the iphone (not extensively but for a few journeys) and honestly wouldn't recommend them. The applications are fine but the GPS on the iphone is to slow and they typically run about 4 seconds behindwhere you are actually travelling which is a pain in the ass. |
Quote:
|
I like Navigon (although it is grossly overpriced) and have found the included maps to be very useful where there is no 3g connection available.
Like all Navigation Applications it really draws on the battery (even when charging from the car's power supply, the battery runs down), but I have found it to be responsive and accurate. |

Sky Sports Live Football is good. Basically SSN's Soccer Saturday but on an iPod or iPhone, it gives you current tables, scores, vidiprinter, line-ups, photos. All live of course.
|

I never think I can be bothered to jailbreak if I need to go trhough it each time there is an update to the OS. IS it really that worthwhile, and hassle free? If I'm really honest, although it'd be noce to have some of the extra stuff, is it really that much of a difference? As for the Sky football score app - agreed, its exceptionally good if you have bets on a few matches, as you can see them all in one go. Goes well in tandem with the iPhone optimised betfair site...... |
Goooal - Push updates for goals as they go in, you choose the teams you want to receive them for and Palace are listed.
|

Any idea if this is safe to do James? |
Has anyone used Copilot Live navigation on the Iphone? At £26 it's a lot cheaper than the TomTom app and seems to have good reviews.
|
Quote:
Should have a few threads comparing them all |
Can't get the Sky + app to work. Have set up on Sky.com and on TV but keeps coming up on iphone with warning saying account not set up for remote recording when I try to log in - any ideas?
|
Just downloaded a pub quiz app, very addictive and it's free for a limited time
Very enjoyable. |
Liking wunder radio
|
Two strong recommendations. The first is GEARED - 80 levels of challenging gameplay. Try the FREE VERSION first if you are not sure.
The other is Ragdoll blast - again there is a free, 'lite', version HERE. |
Flick Cricket
|
Geared is good, though suspicious that the developer's name is Mitchell.
|
I've got some iTunes vouchers, and am looking to purchase some apps.
Any I absolutely must have? Games-wise, I'm eyeing up Sonic, Monkey Ball and Streets of Rage. Unlikely as it seems, is there a decent Football/Championship Manager type game available? |
Gamewise Bejeweled 2 is by far and away the most used on my phone. Touch Physics, Gangstar, and definitely HoldEm (poker) are all well worth it. Oh, and Spider the Secret of something or other, but it's good anyway. Rope and Fly and mini-gore aren't bad either. And Trivial Pursuit and Monopoly are good for long train journeys if you're with someone else. Either Flight Control or Harbour Master too.

For the cooks of the bbs i suggest the All reciepes UK app, Gives you a selection of dishes to cook which have been uploaded, haves all the ingredients to use and how to cook the dish. Quite a handy little app.
|
I got field runners yesterday.
Basically people run across a field and you have to devise ways of stopping them by positioning guns, water cannons, missile launchers and tesla things. Great fun. |
Do not get game of life!
|
Quote:
However, I am rather enjoying KenKen. Kind of like Suduku, only harder. Quite fun Also, not a game but the Trails app is great. You can preload maps from a variety of hiking, running and cycling sites into your iPhone, and it tracks you as you go :) |
Appbox pro. Loads of little gadgets for 59p.
|
What does appbox pro include?
|
I'll check when I get home.
|
Ronnie O'Sulllivan Snooker. Good fun, and pick-up-put-downable

Yeah its really good. Switched on alerts for all prem, championship and world cup qualifier games. Nice little app

Touch Physics- quite fun
|
I'm getting bored with apps and I think I am tiring of the jesus phone. 90% of the apps I want to use are pointless unless they can run in the background. Apple are idiots.
|
Fifa 10 will be out on iPhone soon, if you want it I suggest getting it on release date, which I think is Friday, because they [apple] tend to up the prices after then.
