I'm not sure we are even allowed to say who it isn't!

Suffice to say speculating on who it is I'm sure will end up in a swift end to the thread.

Can I say its not "him" ?

Check out who Brighton leave out of their team when they next play. Might narrow it down a bit

Marksf 06-10-2021 10:48 PM

The younger players are following in the foot steps of the club captain.

Will there be at least one more player who joined in? Will bunk beds be required for the accused?

Am I the only one who feels uncomfortable in Palace fans revelling in oneupmanship over the fact that a Brighton player has been accused of sexual assault, perhaps forgetting that at the end of the allegation is a victim?

Jokes about noncing/sexual assault stats really does derogate the possible seriousness of the crime and the impact on the victim.

PauLo 07-10-2021 12:34 PM

I don't understand where the "nonce" insults come from. Was the person in Dunk's case underage?

Nonce means any sex-offender, although it is generally used for paedophiles.

Spindle 07-10-2021 01:15 PM

Not On Normal Courtyard Exercise.

Refers to prisoners segregated for their own safety. Sex offenders and more generally paedophiles.

I’ve only ever seen “nonce” used as slang for paedophile, so was confused why it was used here.

And we learn something every day.

I suppose it could even apply to banged up grasses and ex police officers.

Looking at this purely from the football perspective. He won't be allowed to play for the foreseeable will he. Will probably scupper any big money moves in January. If convicted could he become a worthless asset.

Looking purely at the football side, there are no rules that stop him from playing (yet). But I would be astonished if a club would play him until this has been settled one way or another. Still Brighton previously played someone charged with this sort of thing, and palace played a known rapist, so I expect to be astonished again.

As for being transferred, again you would hope clubs would want to know the outcome before dropping any coin, but see Ronaldo, Cristian

Terrace Bickle 07-10-2021 01:58 PM

Goodwillie had been convicted previously so the case wasn't live as such when he played though.

Not criminally. After he left Palace he was forced to pay £100k compensation in a civil case. But when he was signed everyone knew or should have known he did it. Either they didn’t do the DD or they did they DD and thought “**** it”

With regard the Brighton player, if he is charged you would imagine his season is over. But they played Dunk so who knows

I thought that they might be forced to flog him abroad for a lower fee. In any shape or form it's very bad for the #goodguys in a footballing sense.

eagle mart 07-10-2021 02:47 PM

As funny, as their asset will in all likely be sacked for gross misconduct, and not make the money they deserve. It is slightly worrying that three Prem footballers have been arrested with good reason - different breed. No longer normal people, but pampered pr!cks showered with adulation and money before they have really earnt it. Take a look at the focus on U23's, etc. And kids with agents. Sorry state of affairs.

None of that is an excuse, btw.Just a general whinge. There are plenty of good footballers too. :)

Normally societies elites don’t have to answer for their conduct, but footballers seem to have fallen out of that bracket.

PeterH 07-10-2021 06:23 PM

Whilst I agree with the sentiment of my old mate Tony Montana's post. I think the arrest is useful to us as rival fans.

Yes, we should contain the excesses of our 'glee' that has befallen Brighton. And remember there is potentially a damaged victim in this, as there prorobably was in the previous case.

But it is nice to have something to shut those feckers up. Keep them nicely in their 'superior' boxes. We certainly won't have the usual once a year crowing seagulls that visit our site only during good times. They have been rubbing their hands for a month now.

But Tony Montano is spot on. Palace fans, and certainly BBSers should conduct themselves with a touch of decorum on the issue.

That depends on the nature of the assault, doesn't it.

Given he was arrested in a night club it is unlikely to be planned or
a minor etc. Given the location, my guess is it will be one of the less serious categories of sexual assault and if found guilty may not receive a custodial sentence at all

Don't worry, we will have some kind soul come on and tell us that it is not correct to speculate.

My betting is Adlers..he is good at that..in this case, speculating and then telling others that they shouldn't/can't.

:sunglasses:

It might also depend on how much the 'victim' is paid by the 'interested parties' to not pursue her complaint.
