BP have now got M&S shops in them. I didn't notice until last week.

Now, for one, the prices are M&S prices, so are a bit high. I would hate to see their store wastage.

On the other flip-side, I can see the above becoming a problem during the day.

When the M&S first opened years ago in the BP in Selsdon, I tried to help by moving my car from the petrol pump to a parking space in front on the concourse whilst I did a quick shop.

When I reached the till about 5 mins later, they were about to report my car as having driven off without paying, even though you could still see it 20 feet away from the window!

Won't be doing that again.

There are already fewer petrol stations around here than 20 years ago, so I now take the view that if these little shops help keep the remaining stations profitable, then that's preferable to more closing and then we all have to drive further to fewer sites.

Revisionism.

ie People claiming the Krays were alright as soon as they died, despite the evidence suggesting they were violent mockney twats.

In short, I have a job interview with them.

I was told that fuel is making them money, and the stuff in shops is often seen as pricey so it didn't do so well either, so they approached M&S and a partnership was born.

When I popped in to the one on Godstone Road, Whyteleafe, last week, it was very quiet, although this was at 1am. The stuff they have in there is very supermarket-esque, so they clearly want it to run like a convenience shop, but I wondered how much wastage they must have, and could see that, if people did buy their shopping there, it could indeed cause a problem outside.

Also, I did think, not everyone can afford M&S prices. That being siad, they had some nice stuff in there. I bought some Davidstow Cheddar and bacon topped sausage rolls. They were delicious and very nourish.

I am inclined to know what other people think.

Anyone in the know as we say in this manor could tell you that Jack The Hat ended up brown bread (I couldn't find the correct rhyming slang for stabbed) some other place innit.

He was Doner Kebabed in Stoke Newington.

Admittedly, that was in about 1999, so well after Jack the Hat was stabbed.

Jack wasn't stabbed in the Blind Beggar, George Cornwell was shot in there.
