first message from the Jesus phone. I am a convert! One question though. How can I find out if I am using 3g, edge or wifi?

Next to the signal bars you will either have a dot (GPRS) an E (Edge) or a 3G (I'll let you guess on that one)

Niceaction 23-12-2008 07:55 PM

Cool. I've turned Location Services off to save battery power, but will I save power by disabling 3G and only switching it on when I am surfing?

I didn't. Mine was left with a neighbour yesterday, and it's brilliant.

If you're happy with the form and capacity of the current 3G then there's no reason to wait. You might only want to wait to see if there is a bigger (32GB capacity) version, or a nano... or maybe just a price reduction in the new year.

anyone know how it works with roaming?

Don't want to accidentally get a huge bill when I go on holiday.

Data roaming is disabled on the phone by default - there's a menu option to turn it on/off.

There's only one place this can go - announcing the iPhone Shuffle.

Has anyone come up with a solution to the delete key sticking? I thought it had been sorted with the software upgrade but it's happening all the time now. Bloody annoying when you have typed a long reply for the BBS only to have to sit there and watch it get deleted word by bloody word.

Dave 29-12-2008 10:09 AM

Does this happen with more than one safari window open?

Blind_Eagle 29-12-2008 10:23 AM

I haven't specifically been checking for that Dave but on the last few occasions I do know that I had at least two Safari sessions open at the time.

Is this the problem then?

Dave 29-12-2008 10:40 AM

It can be if for example you had a page open that uses lots of ram on the iphone.

Just check next time.

Ecalap Latsyrc 29-12-2008 11:23 AM

first post with my iPhone, it's been a relevation so far. My one niggle is the keyboard doesn't go into landscape natively for email and I have to use the easywriter app.

Blind_Eagle 29-12-2008 12:09 PM

That could well be the case as I have had our new website open pretty much permenantly on a tab checking on progress.

Cheers for the workaround Dave. :)

my parents just brought a big i-phone manual apprently tells you everything you need to know

GodstoneEagle 30-12-2008 03:18 PM

Trying to upgrade to 3G today. Bloody system was down when I rang earlier :grrr:

I need a new one cos I've lost my bloody earphones.

Random* 31-12-2008 11:15 PM

I've had mine for a week and a half, and I'm just amazed at how well it all works. How the hell have Nokia/Ericsson/Symbian/Microsoft failed to make anything even close to this with so many years experience? Windows mobile should have been this good years ago.

Android's could be a good competitor if it gets onto some decent hardware.
