windows mobile is shit but symbian takes shitness to new, yet undiscovered levels.

If Nokia don't make some of their new phones work in 2009, we will be talking about them like now talk about palm...

As justification for buying a new iPhone "I've lost my bloody earphones" has got to take the biscuit. :D

Just check next time.

OK I followed the path of iDave and have closed all Safari sessions other than one running the BBS. Thrice I have had mad delete key syndrome when I had no other tabs open.

This is the Judas of the Jesus phone :(

Sucks, can't see anything on google other than what I suggested.

Could anyone please explain what cellular network data means?

Dave 02-01-2009 12:05 AM

Internet access on a mobile phone

Oliver V 02-01-2009 12:08 AM

And can that include access from the wi-fi in our house?

Dave 02-01-2009 12:11 AM

No.

This is accessing the internet via 3G or gprs NOT wifi

Oliver V 02-01-2009 12:13 AM

And can I at all prevent the phone from accessing the internet by any other means but wifi?
I was under the impression that I was only using wifi for browsing and certain applications but now I'm not so sure.

If you have a UK phone and have cellular data off (roaming) then the only way you will be using applications or the internet is via wifi if you are not in the UK.

In the UK you would clearly be using 3G, Edge or GPRS. You can turn 3G off as well if you wanted to (eg. to save power) but you'd have to have Edge and GPRS enabled.

Thanks both of you, I found this website http://brent.kearneys.ca/2008/07/21/...ternet-access/, it's a quick read and if either of you could take a look and let me know if that will solve my problem I'd appreciate it.

Ridcully 02-01-2009 01:38 AM

Oliver easiest way to try is to switch off wifi and see if you can access the internet before the fix and after...

Oliver V 02-01-2009 02:35 AM

Alright got it now.

Thank you both I wouldn't have been happy with the already expensive bill I get on the contract they offer in this country.

Blind_Eagle 03-01-2009 05:57 PM

How do you work that out from that ad then?

Serious question, I'd read that to suggest a bigger handset!!

Still thinking of upgrading my personal phone to an iPhone later in the year, but no rush for the present. Might as well wait to see if a larger one comes out that could replace my iPod.
