Brian Moore,s director was a guy called Bob Gardam who lived down here in the New Forest
Told some great stories
My favourite was he covered a very dour Spurs match and was bursting for a pee. So went to the toilet and they missed the only goal of the game. The next week the production team presented him with a potty to use

I remember Danny Bakers story of the Millwall fans taking his rickety old ladder down while he was on the gantry at the old den :D

This Saturday (25/11) is from 16 August 1980 so imagine that they'll feature our opening day defeat to Liverpool. On itv4 at 10:30.

Watched one over the weekend, didn't see any Palace games but Steve Perrin got 5th place in the Golden Goal of the season for 77/78 (I think it was) and Nicky Chatterton in 6th and final place.

Remember going to that game
Never dreamed things were going to go that bad that season ok we had lost sansom but didn't think it would send us into free fall .
Remember few months earlier think it was near end of previous season we played at arsenal and realy looked comfortable think it was 1 1 and we missed a penalty what a difference 3 months made .

Yeah, I remember that 1-1 at Highbury. Think it was Gerry Francis who had his pen saved, probably by Pat Jennings.

Game famous for palace fans trying to take the north bank .

I was gutted at that game, I was standing right down the front and coppers were standing in our way the whole game, they just wouldnít move, fascists!!

Indeed - this was with Flanagan and Allen up front. Played like them, too.

Vennerballs excuses starting up ready for the defection.

Heard some fans say the 79 game was on the news personally I never see it ,
Hopefully it turns up one day
Can still remember swindlehurst and cannon goals .

Itís still gutting isnít it, the difference a year can make, outclassing that great Ipswich team then a year later, half the crowd, the Whitehorse knocked down and obviously defeat.

It was also sad knowing how it all panned out that season with Terry Venables being so belligerent defending himself and the team after, saying theyíll get it right. He jumped ship not long after and we went down pitifully, the end of a special era

Our home game v West Brom in 1980 next week. I seem to remember this was the game where I started to feel we were in trouble and the Highs of the last few years were really over. If I remember right we lost quite a few on the bounce and it was all becoming a bit easy for teams, that spark and flair seemed a distant memory. What with the ground now looking like a building site as well

That was the game The Big Match did an experiment by interviewing Ron Atkinson on the bench whilst the game was on. Very amusing.

As someone that was there too, I would love it to turn up but think those fans who said they saw it on the news are misremembering.

If it did appear it would’ve been on BBC news, as ITV were off air on strike at the time. It was such monumental moment for us that had it indeed been shown, then there would’ve been more anecdotal evidence; and just can’t recall anyone saying it was on around that time or just after.

Here is the BBC exactly the Saturday before, advertising MOTD, and our game at Stoke. (1:08)

Thatís right, I remember it from the last time they showed it. Not the slickest was it? :D
What I think is funny, how all you had on the bench was a manager, assistant manager/coach and one sub back then, these days a teams bench is like the whitgift centre on a Saturday afternoon!! :D

We had no luck that season what's ever , we lost 18 games thst season just by the odd goal. Turn half of them in to draws we might have stayed up. Remember it was only 2 points for a win back then.
