What are the differences between the two models (apart from slightly faster browsing with 3G?)

:sob: Gutted.

over here (hong kong) i've got 1400 minutes and unlimited texts for less than eight quid a month! :lux:

on the down side, i have to buy the iphone (or A.N.Other i guess) as a phone only deal which means it's steep - 500 quid.

is it worth it? i know in the UK i'd end up paying for it through my contract but here, where it's a big chunk i can't help thinking that's a lot of money for a bloody telephone!

GPS, shitty plastic back on the 3G

Got a slight problem lads that I need some assistance with if you would be so kind.

I have my iPhone setup to automatically connect to my WiFi when I get home which it does but as soon as I go to load a webpage it drops the wireless and uses plain 2g signal, any ideas?

I have tried a reset, tried switching to aeroplane mode and back, and I have tried forgetting the network and re connecting but it is still doing the same thing.

Dave 06-02-2009 11:24 AM

does it all back to edge when doing mail too?

EagleSE24 06-02-2009 11:37 AM

Anyone playing Real Football 09 on their iphone? £3.49 but definitely worth it in my opinion. Just try not to get caught playing it at work...

Swanny32 06-02-2009 11:38 AM

Not as far as i am aware.

Dave 06-02-2009 11:39 AM

sounds to me like your wireless isn't connected at all

Swanny32 06-02-2009 11:50 AM

It must be, the wireless symbol pops up until I try to load a webpage, in the settings it says it is connected to my network as well. Also have it setup to automatically connect to my Mums WiFi when I go round there and that works fine.

Dave 06-02-2009 11:51 AM

That wireless symbol doesn't mean much, ditto 3g or E

Swanny32 06-02-2009 11:57 AM

It must mean something otherwise there is no point in having it

Dave 06-02-2009 11:59 AM

Welcome to the apple world

I use http://whatsmyip.org to see if I am connected sometimes

When wireless is shown as connected, go to settings Wi-Fi, click the arrow next to your wireless ssid.
What IP does it show?

Swanny32 06-02-2009 12:07 PM

I'll let you know later when I get home.

Just seems strange as I set it up exactly the same way as I did at mums only yesterday. One works, one doesn't, I have tried forgetting both just in case they are conflicting but nothing.

Dave 06-02-2009 12:11 PM

It might be connecting but not getting an ip address -

Swanny32 06-02-2009 12:16 PM

If it is doing that Dave then how would I fix it?

Only been doing it since I installed my new Netgear Wireless Router so maybe it is a setting on there?

Dave 06-02-2009 12:23 PM

Yeah - if it connects fine on other routers then it's the new router for sure.

When you get home - turn on wireless then log into the router and see if you can see your Iphone connected under attached devices or similar

The settings are:

DHCP:
IP Address: 169.254.49.24
Subet Mask: 255.255.0.0
Router: Blank
DNS: Blank
Search Domains: Blank
Client ID: Blank

Same goes for BootP and Static

Nope, not attached even though the wireless symbol is present.

Tried forgetting the network and connecting again but it's not having it.

Swanny32 06-02-2009 06:12 PM

Nope, don't worry, it had access restriction on my router so although it was saying it had connected to the router anytime you wanted to actually use the connection it would drop out, all sorted now.
