You have to use itunes to activate it plus if you want to configure it to sync calendars, contacts, ringtones etc so you are pretty tied to it imvho

oh gawd...

It may be ok on OSX but it's a big steaming turd on windows :(

Brett 11-02-2009 10:06 AM

Come across to Mac, Ricky - we don't bite. :)

Dave 11-02-2009 10:30 AM

Itunes sucks on the Mac too for anything other than syncing your phone.

It can't even handle m3u playlists from the internet without a third party application.

Brett 11-02-2009 10:39 AM

But how can something suck if it can't do what it was never advertised to do?

Dave occasionally has these open source flashbacks. All people on the recovery plan suffer from them.

Nah, I'm a Windows man I'm afraid :)

Until I got the iphone I didn't realise quite how greasy my ears were. Everytime I talk on it, I have to wipe doen the screen. Tell me I'm not alone in this. I'm on the verge of developing a complex!

cumbrian_eagles 11-02-2009 03:27 PM

nah, do the same thing too, although mostly after longer phone calls rather than short ones.

Kevin T 13-02-2009 07:43 AM

I don't really have long phone calls, being a bloke and that, so have never encountered the problem.

richdeniro 13-02-2009 09:55 AM

Anyone know of any software so that I can use my iphones 3g connection to browse the internet on my laptop?

Or will itunes do it?

Dave 13-02-2009 10:01 AM

Not without a jailbreak.

Some suggestions that tethering is in the works soon from 02 / At & T

Buggers tried to deliver it yesterday. Hopefully they'll try again today and she's in. Shitty Link tho :sob:

A serious iPhone question. What do you do about headphones? I assume part of the apeal of an iPhone is using the ipod features (it would be for me, and only the small memory and financial issues have held me back from getting one so far!)

However, as I didn't have time to convert question time to Mpeg4 I just bunged it on my HTC to watch on there. But when I was done, I wrapped my headphones round the phone like I normally do with my iPod. Then when someone called it was a right pain in the arse to try answer a phone with headphones wrapped round it.

Clearly I am thinking about this a bit too much, but honestly, what do you iPhone people do? Just leave the headphones in your pocket to get all tangled? Is there some kind of wireless headphone I don't know about?

PalaceMonkey 13-02-2009 10:53 AM

I've actually found that these 'phones don't tangle as much as normal ones.
I don't tend to pocket them much though, either in use, or on my desk at work or table at home.

However I am fed up with them falling out my ear, and the sound is going in the right one.

Shall purchase some different ones I think.

PalaceMonkey 13-02-2009 11:12 AM

in my hunt for new headphones, I have learned that if you press the little widget twice on the right ear cable, you skip forward a track.

Mellers told me about pressing it once to pause, but skipping is grand :p

Dave 13-02-2009 11:16 AM

How can you not know this?

My multifunction no longer works :(

Anonymous 13-02-2009 11:22 AM

I just bought some shiny new Sennheiser CX300-II's. They are currently stuck at South Norwood sorting office awaiting collection.

Well ... I'm getting a nice new shiny phone - had to get some spoinky headphones to go with it :)
