I want to know if it's worth the hassle or not. If its just for a nice theme I wont bother.

Winterboard especially, but there is loads of stuff you can download through Cydia/Installed (that are installed on your phone when you unlock) that is cool.

I've only had the phone 2 weeks to be fair!

Dave 16-02-2009 10:56 PM

After a few days of jailbreaking I always start worrying that the internet isn't connecting as well as before and revert

Oh and Ricky - there have been tools for every firmware since 1.0

Kevin T 16-02-2009 11:03 PM

Liking the numerical battery indicator in bossprefs too!

I should imagine there are, but seeing as the tool that I would recommend does it so well, that's the one I would recommend.

On the A8stract theme now. Smart as

I've got deep at the moment which is quite nice as icon's that are not part of an icon pack that is downloaded with the theme don't stick out so much.

oops - that was meant for Dave.

Dave 17-02-2009 09:04 AM

why are you being so secretive...

all the tools are easy to use, quickpwn is stoopidly easy

Anonymous 17-02-2009 09:06 AM

I didn't want to give any links - i believe there is something in the BBS rules about this.

quickpwn is stupidly easy.

Dave 17-02-2009 09:07 AM

unlocking tools aren't warez and cracks....

Anonymous 17-02-2009 09:14 AM

Fair enough. I was erring on the side of caution.

Kevin T 17-02-2009 09:23 AM

I've just noticed that none of my downloaded apps work now. I mean the apps I downloaded prior to jailbreaking. If I want to re-install one, will I have to pay again, or does itunes keep a record that I've already bought it?

Kevin T 17-02-2009 09:49 AM

I reinstalled one app (Twitterific) and now all the others are working again. Strange.

my son took his i-phone to thailand last week, for a week long school trip , and didnt disengage his roaming capabliities for the internet .
the service provider rings up my wife on the thursday ( i was away ) to inform her that the bill for the week was currently $3000 sgd ( about 1400 gbp ) , it seems he has beeen logged on unaware as he hasnt been using his phone .
now im a know nothing techno phobe , but is this the norm , i.e an i-phone automatically hooks you up to the nearest internet provider ? .
all previous phones i have used you have had to actively log on and you get logged out after a time of inactivity .
i have to speak to the service provider here when my bill arrives this week sometime , and try to argue getting these costs removed , but i guess i aint going to have any joy , though discussing it with others it seems this type of thing has happened before , in particular with thailand .

st albans 17-02-2009 10:18 AM

pretty sure that if you don't disengage the roaming then it will latch on to a local network and check and downloads emails every hour or so. this is all chargeable

by default though it is already disengaged, so he must have disengaged the disengagenous, if that makes any sense. mine is anyway and would have assumed they would all be the same by default
