The Addison Lee app is pretty cool. It will send you a cab to your location by knowing where you are from your phone location.
You have to have an Addison Lee account but they are pretty easy to get. |
Need some help, considering 32gb Ipod Touch for one if not all my kids, are they any good for games? Are they better or worse than a DS lite or two different beasts?
|
My personal opinion is that the ds lite is much better for gaming, the real keyboard and dual screen as well as better games
|
Have to agree. Standard rules apply most of the time.
If you want to play games, buy a games console! If you want to listen to songs, buy an mp3 player! |

She has on her list a DS lite to replace her aged old original DS, and MP3/Ipod. |

Decent but flawed! Good summary :p |
Ok slightly off topic but I could do with getting a Touch this Christmas. I don't want an iPhone as my Hero sits nicely in my pocket and I don't want an iPhone sized device with me all of the time.
8gb is £139 compared to 32gb at £209. Various relatives seem to be hinting that they are up for getting me the 8gb but I'm wondering whether it's worth throwing another £70 towards it myself for the bigger storage? Ordinarily I'd take the opinion that you can never have enough storage but the only issue I have is that I never used to fill up my 4gb Mini. I prefer to rotate my music every now and then. As a case in point I have 40 songs on my Hero! Obviously I didn't have apps or games on my Mini - but are they likely to take up that much space? |

No new apps?

Camera Plus is a rather good FREE app to give 3G iphone users a camera that has a zoom and better focus
|
Just been looking around the app store, not sure if it has been mentioned, but PandoraBox is a great little app which tells you which apps are on sale, what price they are at, for how long, and then links you to the app store.

Theres a free photoshop for iphone now which is quite ok all be it a bit basic
also if you find you are using all your texts if you get whats app you can text other people with the app for free! |

All though I agree the ds is probably better overall for games unless you are a torrent junky and know how to get round it you will be paying £20+ for games and its bulkier than the iTouch. Whereas with the touch you can get games from as little as 59p and also have a decent mp3 player to boot which can also go online to websites etc etc etc |
Shaun White Snowboarding is pretty fun :)

my baby is going crazy for the Bubble Wrap game

TimeAdder is a time calculator, so you put in the minutes, or seconds, or hours, or all three, and it converts into any of them. Very useful when dealing with large hours, like 23798 in minutes.

If you are looking for music and play games every now and again go for the touch. I wouldn’t sell my PSP/DS for a touch if it was on games personally. |
What do people think of the new Bing App?

There is a Bing app?
I hate Bing, but will give it a go |

Can you listen to Palace radio with Wunder Radio app?

Love the Bubblewrap app. Although it's frustrating me cos I can't beat my high score :(

For jailbroken phones, ProSwitcher. Enables you to easily keep apps running in the background and switch between them. Great for having Last.fm or radio on while still using the phone for other tasks. Quite impressed so far

Apps that made it through the year!
I've tried loads of apps, but many get deleted or shelved once they've served their purpose (like the snow report, or airport maps). What apps have survied the year and are on your phone right now, including the ones you wonder why you haven't deleted? For me it's

I have doodlejump

Downloading that now along with Crash Bandicoot Nitro Racing!!

The Guardian App
Fantastic app, iPhone optimised browsing is great, but in itself not worth the £2.39 price in my opinion. However, the ability to download all or individual sections for offline browsing makes this a fantastic app, even at twice the price! http://www.guardian.co.uk/iphone |
If anyone who has ColorSplash could do me a favour, I would really appreciate it.
There is a free app called Splash of Color, does the same as ColorSplash but is free, does anyone know which is better since I would rather not buy the first one only to find the free one is better. Thanks BE |

Disco mixx kidd, if you get it in time, download the app 12 days of christmas, I think its number 1 free download on the app store.
I recommend all of my apps, cannot say any of them don't work, they have all suited their purpose this last year hence why they have stayed on my iPhone and not been deleted. The 12 days of xmas app there is another thread for have a look on there free downloads, todays is a film you might want, tomorrows a tv show. You haven't fuccked up, just plug in the ipod to itunes and click sync and everything will be transfered across if you have the sync apps option ticked. Any more problems just post. |

Tomorrows is an episode of Outnumbered

I had that this morning, just sync it and it should be fine, if not try restoring it.

I have very few apps compared to the rest of you.
Got Ronnie O'Sullivan's snooker the other day. Reasonable. |

Really liking the information apps and the guardian. Doodle jump and traffic rush are both good games :) I think the iPhone is the best thing that has ever happened in my life :) |

I've downloaded loads and loads of apps. The majority last a couple of days and get deleted
|
How are people getting on with Championship Manager? I wouldn't play it on the desktop but could see myself having a game on the bog or ting.
|
Agreed

Bugs It crashes a bit more than most games but it tries to do more than most games - if you get a phone call it wont return to the game itll quit you out When you save games it doesnt always return to that point, and as there is no quit button this can be quite annoying as it normally returns to one of the autosaves it does cons Its very hard to move players on that are crap - so maybe realistic in that sense?:D Can be a bit slow moving from section to section EDIT:They've just brought out quite a big update which i havent gone into yet but theres loads of new screens and fingers X its more stable now-will report back when had a chance to muck around with it |
I found my 9 year old listening to a kids technology podcast last night, all these 7-11 year olds emailing in about best apps etc for their ipods, made me feel old.
|
might have been mentioned but the "Moron Test" is well worth 59p of anyones money.
|
Playing with TouchMouse this morning which allows you to turn your iPhone into a remote control for your mac.
Works really well and as well as being able to control the mouse pointer, it has a keyboard layout so you can actually remotely type type on your computer! |
I bet you one million pounds you will use it less than five times
|
I'll have the million pounds then as i used it last night whilst hooking my laptop to the tele to watch a film.
Plus used it this morning to click licensing and agreeing buttons on installations on a machine that was on the other side of the room! Very useful to save getting off your arse! :) |
If you need a remote control WHY ON EARTH would you use a mobile phone and NOT a remote control?
I can use my electric toolbrush to play ping pong, doesn't mean I should. |
Oh you love a good discussion dont you! ;)
Its a funky FREE app and my phone is always next to me to use as a remote is all. |

Anyone has a look at Vouchercloud? Was in today's Sun and is quite good. Picks up your location and shows you any shops and food around your area with vouchers. U can then get the voucher on ur phone to use.
