No, definitely can't pinch - when you touch the screen it zooms in to that point, but you can't pinch it to the size that you want.

exactly, surely this makes it a worse proposition than Safari

Update available for Angry Birds. 15 new levels and new birds withmore levels coming soon!

Highbury Eagle 25-04-2010 06:33 PM

Planefinder

See what Planes are above you, where they've come from, where they're going to, altitude and speed. Very impressive though of no real use to me!

Adlerhorst 27-04-2010 03:21 PM

New bird on Angry Birds quite fun. Levels pretty straightforward though (not 3 stars though - no idea on that)

EDIT: got 3 stars on all of level 6 now. Actually much easier than some of the other levels.

AJ's right boot 30-04-2010 08:18 PM

Got the sat nave app fr £9.99, then bought the in car charger with a cradle for £5 inc P&P. A sat nat for £15! Bargain!

BulletEagle 01-05-2010 08:12 PM

Just bought FM2010, loads of fun, great app

Icy 12-05-2010 09:08 AM

Theres a decent South Africa World Cup planner app up for free on itunes at the moment.

MyCar Check is pretty nifty for a freebie too if your looking at buying or selling a car.

Beat me to it. Downloading it now.

Have completed all other levels but there are a few I just can't get 3 stars on. It's driving me nuts!

Also - there is one golden egg level that seems impossible as there doesn't appear to be anything to do! There's just a giant pig on screen whose nose shakes when you touch it but nothing else happens. Any ideas?

EagleinOz 19-05-2010 10:07 AM

You've gotta use two fingers and sort of drag it's eyes open. Then it's nose falls off and reveals the star. If I had a penny for every time I've said that.... :D

I need 3 stars on 4-3 and 4-19 and that's it. Just can not for the life of me get them!

EagleSE24 20-05-2010 03:49 PM

God damn Angry Birds is annoying! So addicted. I've managed to get 3 stars on everything on levels 1 and 2. Level 3 I need 14.

Mighty Hoax Level I'm struggling with 101/126 overall.

I agree, I'm liking it.

On the flip side I thought I'd give iBooks a proper go. It is awful. Absolutely god-awful. For some reason most of each page is dedicated to having massive margins, meaning to have to turn the page every two seconds.

Might work on a iPad, but total shit on an iPhone.

WeatherPro

There is currently a 7km/h easterly breeze where I am, but that will change to a 9km/h south-easterly later

I have never looked at that before, and doubt I will again.

Don't know if anyone has mentioned Run Pee yet.

An app that tells you the best time to nip to the loo during a film.

It tells you when the dullest moments are and what leads up to them. There is even a timer you can set to alert you.

The app also tells you how long the window is and provides a summary of what you are missing.

And its free!

Paddy Power app out now to make mobile betting easier finally!

It looks good, expect all the others to follow suit now!

First thing it does is to verify your current location tho so it will not be working abroad for legal reasons

PP giving you a free £5 bet as well when you place the first bet as £10

Mobile betting couldn't be easier!!

Get a Betfair account
Get iBetMate app
Done!

I have the Ladbrokes app which is pretty good, unlike their prices most of the time (outside of football for which they seem pretty good)

Will get the PP one though as have an account with them and their normal mobile site is horrific, though will mainly be on Betfair

Racing Post one is great if you've not got it

I dont use betfair - I only place fixed odds bets and they take a % of winnings which I dont like so I stick to the usual boys.

Cheers for the post heads up, not often on the horses mainly just golf every week but will take a look as I use it when I am on the nags (normally just wait for you, Gooders, Godders or Jam to post up the selections and copy!!!)

Finbar 26-08-2010 09:45 AM

Don't ever listen to me on the horses, I know next to nothing! Tend to only get involved during festivals where the app is great to see the runners / riders / colours.

Probably for another thread but if you bet on golf you are mad not to consider Betfair, especially for outsiders, just deduct 5% from the price and you'll find it's still better more often than not. If you don't want an account with them then open one with Betchronicle who base their prices on the exchanges so are often bigger as proved here http://odds.bestbetting.com/golf/the-barclays/winner/. It's the one thing you can do to level the playing field with the bookies. Anyway I'll be quiet now and leave this to get back on topic :p

Official Football League app, which can be personalised to become an official Palace app. Not had much of a look yet. Can upgrade for £4.99 for highlights and shit.

Sky Sports News isn't bad, and includes Sky Sports News Radio.

All Sega games are cheap until midnight tonight. Some classics there.

ESPN Goals, NME, Wallpaper, miCoach, TuneIn Radio, Gazzetta TV, la Gazzetta dello Sport, & Hipstamatic have been acquired recently; all pretty decent.

I am expecting delivery of my new iPhone 4 32GB today. Have never used an iPhone so this is all very new to me. Loving reading this thread.

Being new to the iphone game i'm not sure what i will want/need so would appreciate a few recommendations to get me started.

I love Palace, football in general, football games, gadgets, music etc. Any recommendations would be gratefully received. TIA

EagleSE24 07-09-2010 10:15 AM

You need to get Angry Birds and Doodlejump. 59p each and both very addicitve games.

Finbar 07-09-2010 10:26 AM

I know it's £18 but if you have a Slingbox then can massively recommend the app.

Watched snooker on Eurosport this morning for about 80% of my journey from Earlswood to Moorgate, couple of blackspots after Merstham (massive tunnel!)and Coulsdon South but other than that was pretty much constant. For those that don't have a Slingbox and watch a lot of tv / sport then you should look into it (no monthly sub and you can watch tv anywhere you have broadband or with the app 3G signal)

With my old phone (Nokia N95 which had a Slingbox app) I could manage maybe 30% but it was so intermittent I never bothered

I have the old Slingbox which isn't officially supported but it works 100% for me, have been watching snooker on the iphone from my desk all morning, 4pm will put it on the US Open tennis, perfect :)

As for games the only two I ever play are Bejeweled 2 (addictive and managed level 17) and Cat Physics which is a great time waster

andyocpfc 07-09-2010 10:31 AM

Sounds good Finbar, is it just Eurosport or can you switch between other sport channels?

Finbar 07-09-2010 10:39 AM

If it was just Eurosport then £18 for the app would be awful! :) Have access to all my sky channels

You have to buy the Slingbox first (£100ish) and basically it gives you access to your sky box (am sure it works just as well with other boxes but mine is sky) from anywhere with broadband, so you can then watch your sky from anywhere in the world. I used it a lot when I was in Aus a couple of years ago.

It is literally like being in your living room in that a remote control appears next to the picture and you control it on there, am sure there are clips on Youtube if I've not explained very well, may favourite gadget by a mile. Picture quality depends on your broadband connection but on the iphone it's generally very very good

Slingbox Solo looks to be around £100 and that's the most basic, the Pro (you can control more things with that I think) costs about £150
