Looking at all the ones you have quoted, the sellers are seriously taking the mickey (bar the last one). That's why they are all unsold nearly a year later. All those cards were going for about £30 - £40 tops early in 2014. Some printing plates were priced at circa $100 but open to 'best offer' where they would take just over half that. I got almost all the blank back 1/1's (with certificates) direct from Topps own ebay (US) auctions for their start price of $10 because nobody else bid for them. There were very few cards that you couldn't win if you used Auctionsniper stealthily, and loads of /99's and /11's were auctioned with starting price of $0.99 (finishing at circa £10 - £15). If you are after all the rarities for the 2014 set (out end of next week), then set up a spreadsheet, and watch ebay.com like a hawk! Use auctionsniper and don't double up (I've got some duplicates if you are interested?)

By getting the rarities for the 2014, won't the postage cost a small fortune ?, would love to watch ebay.com like a hawk, but when working 6 days a week at the moment , and for the next month or two, then four nights a week, drive the wife & son to work,

Regarding duplicates, if you manage to list them down and send me a PM with what price's for after, i'll see what we can do:p

I so wish...I know that you state you have this one Dorking.Eagle, but, i so wish i didn't have my head in the sand over the past few years, missed out on so many great cards, I take it, this card isn't likely to show it's face on the like's of ebay, dread to think what sort of value it'll have

I have that one, yes. Got it on ebay.com in the first few weeks after Premier Gold 2013 came out. Last one I saw for sale on ebay.com was in early August - went for sale for about $100 from memory.

The quad auto book card was the one I never got close to. A guy in China offered me one for something like £300 which I obviously had to pass on. As I say though, the 'heat' has largely gone out of the 2013 cards, and this Quad Auto book card (not the Palace one) went for just $50US. see http://www.ebay.com/itm/2013-Topps-P...p2047675.l2557

Super Mabbutt 14-12-2014 09:14 AM

I'd say it's Joel Ward rather than Dann.

Looks like I'll be spending a few more notes on the card collection, thanks for the updates DE.

Dorking .Eagle 14-12-2014 10:10 AM

Yeah, does look more like Ward than Dann TBH
Not going into my collection just for a sliver of a player though!

Cheers for the updates Dorking.Eagle, Think my first cards to get are those relic jerseys & auto cards

There's a Canadian seller on ebay called mimiimports (used them a lot last year) and they seem to have got a good stock really early (it'll be a week before UK sellers get them), and they seem to have set the prices pretty low (which is great!)

You would have thought the auto's would be a lot more based on the cost per box. I was expecting Buy it Now's on all auto's to be at least $20 for the first few weeks but one seller (mimimports) got on early and basically set the price for them, the auto's won't be rare either so they won't go up in price till the initial breaks are done and the listings start become scarce or until all the sellers keep at a particular price and another seller doesn't undercut them.

If any UK dealers have committed to cases (for breaking up and selling individually), then firstly they will miss out on the early 'heat' (the initial scramble for cards over this first week, while they are waiting for their stock) but also they are going to have to be lucky in getting some great cards (1/1's, printing plates etc) to balance out the base cards...

If the autos are that price (I think rather cheap) they will be giving away base cards. For UK dealers, each CARD cost 2.80 a card thats from click distributon.
So if you see base cards at 99p etc grab them LOL.

UK dealers will do much better with Premier Club (out in January) as they haven't got the customs and import charges to build into their overheads.

JOHN1509 15-12-2014 08:35 PM

so what sort of prices do you expect the auto cards to be at for the first few days/weeks ?

Dorking .Eagle 15-12-2014 09:38 PM

I got the basic Jedi auto card from a seller in Hong Kong for US$9.99 + US$4.99 postage
which was £9.49 total.

My basic Jedi relic was £4.95 + £1.75 postage from a seller in Canada (£6.70)

The basic, unnumbered ones are pretty much unlimited and will be easily available for many months (years?) to come on ebay. As you said, you got a Bolasie relic for little over £3 from last years set.

Still good prices though I think although they will come down a little. Maybe end of January when nobody has any money!!! The sellers/dealers will make the bulk of their profit from the rarer parallel cards, printing plates and 'big players' (from big clubs)

You can spend a fortune on them if you chase every parallel, plate, and bid for loads of variations, trying to get everything. Personally been there, done that last year. One of each card will do me this time, and no massive rush. Auctions starting at a few $ are a good place to try your luck. You can get the whole set of 7 basic base cards for $15 if you look carefully, or a relic currently is on for $2.99 with n o bids, and the $/£ exchange rate is pretty good on ebay.

When UK sellers get their stocks, it will be interesting to see if even with the postage savings they can be competitive with the overseas sellers.

I've taken my eye of the card collecting ball since we've been in the Prem.. the amount of 'manufactured' Limited editions has taken the joy right out of it for me.

Dorking .Eagle 15-12-2014 10:25 PM

I do know what you mean Neil. What I would say though is that as a club that spends the majority of its time in the 2nd tier, with maybe one set a season to collect, maybe supplemented with a misprinted fixture card, it's lovely to at least have the choice to collect (or not!) several sets per season. And that's before you count foreign language variations of Match Attax for example!

There's still the 'Merlin' (Topps) sticker book to come (out any day now), the new Premier Club set of cards (a more basic UK version of Premier Gold) in January, and Match Attax extra in February. With the internet and ebay, there is no need to buy a single card you don't need either.

The Premier Gold collection is basically a US concept, where numerous versions of cards exist. Over there, they take 'grading' their cards very seriously and so on. I don't think we're that bad over here, but I do like the quality, variety and choice that you get with their style of collections.

I think my card collecting goes in cycles, I'm currently far more interested in tracking down obscure cards from our early years. In a few years time, I'll probably be trying to track down these ones!

Dorking .Eagle 10-01-2015 08:09 AM

No shortage of Palace 'Taddy' cig cards on ebay at the moment if you have any gaps in your collection :)

Recently got this one on ebay:-

I tried to get it several years ago, but was outbid (can't find the post, but I mentioned it on this thread)

so well pleased

New bits of news-

If you just want to order the Palace stickers from the 2014/15 'Merlin' Premier League sticker book, these can now be ordered individually online at www.toppsdirect.com (see post 656 for numbers)

The Topps 'Premier Club' card collection (a more basic UK version of Premier Gold) will be out on 29 January.

Match Attax Extra card collection - no news yet, but expect them mid to late Feb.

Great to see that Palace corrected the card errors in the 'programme' card collection!
